    Does brass wire behave much like copper? Is this a soft or a half-hard? Looks like a more harder wire compared to the same gauge in copper, maybe it is the fact it is brass? Newbie here 😊 Thank you for the great videos!

    • @MaggieCSAtelier
      @MaggieCSAtelier  Před rokem

      So welcome 🤗 I’m using half-hard, it holds the earring shapes better. And yes you’re right, brass wires are harder than copper wires generally. :)

    Your videos are so helpful, thank you! Is there a black wire you recommend?

    • @MaggieCSAtelier
      @MaggieCSAtelier  Před rokem +1

      The safest black wire for ears would be oxidised silver, you’ll need to purchase sterling wire and then process it. Hope this helps. :)

    Have you had any issues with senility to the brass?

    • @MaggieCSAtelier
      @MaggieCSAtelier  Před rokem

      Hi Claire, not really. Brass tarnished naturally over time but you can bring back the shine with just a polishing cloth.

    Maggie I'm actually looking to make this shape - but as one piece and not two pieces. Any suggestions? Every time I straighten the end - the circle opens and kicks out. Thanks in advance!

      Hi Karen I don’t quite get what shape you wanna make, you can send some images to my email or social. Just let me know where you send it :)

      @@MaggieCSAtelier they key hole you started on at 7:00 minutes. How do you make that as one piece and not two? The "legs" at the bottom would be open. I'm so confused - lol!

    • @MaggieCSAtelier
      @MaggieCSAtelier  Před 2 měsíci

      I see. It sounds like the piece isn’t entirely flat, so when you try to straighten or flatten it certain parts would open. The best chance to fix this, you could check your piece from the side, and on each bending point, where the wire bend to another direction, make sure they look flat from the side. Start from the first bending point, use 2 flat nose pliers, each on one of the wire, adjust the wire til they look flat from the side. I hope you got what I mean, it’s quite hard to explain in words 😅

    I clicked on the link to buy some of the brass wire, but it looks like they're not selling it on Amazon now. Any ideas of where else I could purchase it? Or another similar wire type?
    Thanks!

    • @MaggieCSAtelier
      @MaggieCSAtelier  Před rokem

      Thank you, Jill :) It's strange, I just checked on the link shared, and the wire is still available on Amazon. It'd be great to check with DIY or craft stores near you. They'd be the places that are most likely to carry them. If not, check online on any browser that you are using. Just key in 'where to buy brass wire half hard near me." Then you'd be most likely to find suppliers near you. Etsy might also have some suppliers too. You could check that out too.

    I usually use 14kt gold filled or sterling silver wire. Could you tell me how quickly the brass wire might tarnish, I’ve never used it? And by chance do you know how well the wire works in a polishing tumbler? Thank you! I am new to your channel and love it ♥️

    • @MaggieCSAtelier
      @MaggieCSAtelier  Před rokem +1

      Thanks Teresa! Brass wire is hard enough and safe to use in a tumbler. As for tarnishing, it’s like silver, depending on the surroundings, humidity & on whom it’s being worn. I left my pieces on the work surface and they turn into deep gold or vintage gold but without any black bits or spots on them. Hope this helps !
