This is amazing! I am a Muslim woman who has been covering her hair for years and to learn that there are similarities between both religions means that hopefully one day we could all stand united someday. The things you mentioned in your video is almost, if not exact, to what I would tell people who would ask me why I cover my hair. In Islam yes it is a command in order to not attract the opposite sex as well as to honor our husband and marriage yet we still find our ways to make our head wraps unique and pretty. Stay beautiful

I am a Christian woman and very recently (about 2 weeks) I have felt a personal conviction to cover my hair. I am the only one in my Pentecostal church that covers. I don't cover my hair completely but I do cover all the time. I stumbled on this while researching. Thank you so much for this

A servant leader is what you are, Andrea. I'm a Christian and have been interested in head coverings since I experienced Cancer and lost my hair. I disliked Cancer, but loved the freedom from hair (I know that sounds funny). I went without head coverings and with scarves, turbans and wigs. As I continue to grow in my faith as a follower of Jesus, I find myself interested in head coverings once again. I don't know where my experimentation will lead, but I have just sent in an order for your products, with another in the cart. Thank you for your service, not only for women who live their faith, but for those who have lost their hair due to Cancer or other medical conditions. I love that my journey of exploring and learning is being accomplished with a company such as yours. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Wow! I have tears in my eyes. I am the hypothetical woman you are talking about. I was a passionate tichel wearer during my marriage, which only lasted 2 1/2 years. After I received my Get, and a bit of soul searching, I felt that I was drawing attention to myself wearing a tichel. I asked a shaila about it and my Rav said I should wear a sheitel especially going into shidduchim again and desiring to fit in. I purchased a beautiful sheitel that I felt comfortable in but I was feeling a little insecure around my tichel-wearing-with-a-passion friends. Thank you for the validation I needed in such a big way. Thanks my beautiful friend.

I'm a middle aged survivor of religious abuse (Christian evangelical) and experienced weight gain and unusual immune system symptoms with falling hair until the truth about my childhood rape was discussed openly last year. I've experienced a reversal of my stress induced symptoms since then, so I know I'm on the right track! When I was young I liked to braid my hair, but now I find these tichel ladies so inspiring I just want to wear scarves! Thank you for placing your tutorials on CZcams so that other women can share. (I'm not Jewish, but I don't dig on Jesus, so it's nice to come here and learn from you. Thank you so very much from Northern California!)

I love covering with a Tichel rather than a sheitl because for me I’m honoring my husband by covering my hair as a mode of modesty. I feel with a wig I can have hair that looks even more incredible and stylish than my own hair and that doesn’t honor my husband at all in my opinion. So this is my choice. I am a Messianic believer and have been watching these videos for almost a year. I was criticized by someone the first time I covered my head and just stuck to your videos and waited for the opportunity to try it again. I ventured out and started wearing a head covering during my recent visit in Israel. I returned to Hawaii and have continued to wear tichels. I am the only person at work that wears a covering, but the other women have been complimentary and encouraging. This has encouraged some of the ladies I fellowship with to want to wear a tichel out of respect for their marriage. I am grateful for these videos because I am sharing them with other women. Thank you for all your helpful hints.

I absolutely love the message you are spreading! I’m Christian, and love learning about other faiths and have such a high respect for the Jewish faith. My great grandparents are from the Poland/Czech border (the town they were born in was fought over many times). I believe my maternal great grandmother was half Ashkenazic. I have wanted to wear head coverings for years as a way to connect to my heritage but when I tried it in the past, it would always slip. A friend told me about Wrapunzel’s no slip bands today and I’m super excited! Just placed my first order (just the band and scrunchie for now), but I can’t wait to start ordering scarves and shapers in a few weeks! Thanks so much, Andrea! 💚 Elizabeth

So i'm not sure if this will be clear, but i was raised Jewish, left Judaism for Christianity, eventually finding my way back to Judaism. While i'm not motivated by modesty i'm motivated by 2 things. 1. i like to cover as a way to reconnect with my heritage but it also, and this might sound weird, but i also feel like its a soldarity with other women. Some Christians cover, Some Muslims cover. Other religions do as well, and we are women. And we are more alike than we are different, and we can stand together with our different beliefs and still live in peace.

Maybe I'm assuming here but I would think the reason for covering the hair is because the hair can be seen as "sexy". So it seems to me that a wig isn't serving the purpose a tichel is for. A sexy wig instead of sexy hair....what exactly does that accomplish??

Bad hair days motivated me to get a scarf. I learned hijab, and basic tichel. I wear a veiled tichel, quite commonly sold, except i wear a veil in the back, its not tucked in and most of my neck is covered, depending on the weather.
The soft colors available from hijab suppliers work the best with my everyday street clothes. I have many more undercaps than i do chiffon! Lace for summer, jersey for winter. Recently i rediscovered neck gaiters, in a zillion colors, and theyre longer, which protects my scalp! I keep finding items that make it a real pleasure to put on, attractive for going out to lunch!

I am of interracial decent...and an American Christian woman. Despite I have long hair, I have worn many wigs.... I am grappling with the idea of covering my hair because I am also struggling with what it means to be a professing Christian woman, who says...I want to do as the bible instructs yet when I look at myself and my peers in the church..." we don't dress modestly". I am not interested in expressing myself as a Hebrew woman, but follow the instruction of the New testament books...that are written in Greek. I learned that dressing modestly is to dress reverently, sacredly, proper, fit, comely and even in doing that to display myself conspicuously as a believing woman. In my study I found that to be moderately attractive...so I know that it does not have to be "ugly"... In most of the churches of America ... women dress like commoners, worldly women who have no real conduct of discipline morally, and yet I am instructed by the bible to set myself apart, to not be of the world...Beauty in American is a billion dollar industry...women without hair are buying hair by the tons....braiding it elaborately and thought a wig can cover my natural hair...it can not compare to covering...i state this because in all religions ...whatever we believe ....we should be able to openly acknowledge those beliefs, as living out our faiths. I am looking within myself to see if I can commit to this standard... I appreciate your sharing...and I will check out Wrapunzel. thank you so much....

Frum it Up was sharing in one of her videos (she's a Sephardic Orthodox Jewish woman) that her work requires her to put off the tichel (which seems insane to me) for specific conferences. She wears the tichel every day, but she has the sheitel for those specific conferences. While this isn't my world, I wanted to mention that specific instance as well, that sometimes the tichel is against dress codes at work so the sheitel option is good to have on hand.

  • @loveiselasticcreations3663

I am not of the Jewish faith. I am Christian and non denominational. I like the way head coverings looked at first after a type of ear surgery where a good part of my hair was gone on one side. My mother on the other hand made fun of me .You see I used to be married to a Muslim man and for her that reminded her of something that was very ethnic and bad. It is taking me 10 years to be able to want to wear something like this on my own to please myself. And I’m happy to do so. I am now faced with no water being able to go into my ear and I’ve run out of options even with swimming caps and fit earplugs molded air plugs everything lights water in so there is a fabric called pole fabric PUL and I am going to try to make that into a tickle. And that’s just for the water. As for every day I bought One of your Wendy shapers. Made me giggle because my name is Wendy, so all things name Wendy must be good. And some of the fabrics. I look forward to getting them. So you really are bringing people together from all walks of life and all religions.

We haven't made a video like that. So sorry! For head wrapping, though, there are typically three different shapes of scarves: long and oblong (rectangular-shaped), square and triangle. Most Wrapunzel-style wraps are done with long and oblong shaped scarves, though, we do use some square and triangular-shaped ones in our tutorials, as well. All of the scarves on wrapunzel.com have the dimensions listed at the very bottom of their product descriptions, which should give you an idea of what sizes we prefer. Hope that helps! :)

You are such a beautiful person both inside and out. I'm so glad I rediscovered your channel and now you have a beautiful store. I saw your very first video a few years ago when I was just beginning my research into head covering. I come from a mixture of religious backgrounds, my mother is church of England, my father was both church of England and Jewish. His mother was Jewish by birth and at some point in his adult life he became Jewish, however even though he made sure that my brother and I both attended church (CoE) he was actually an atheist. so yes I had a very confusing religious up bringing. however since my father passed away I have been drawn to a Pagan path. and now I am being drawn to cover my head. it's a very strange feeling, I don't know where it is coming from but the need to cover is growing stronger by the day. Being pagan there are no guidelines or rules to tell how to cover, this is where your lovely videos have come into my life time and time again :) thank you so much you have given me options :) I do also have to say that I'm definitely more like the hyperthectical person you described, but after watching your videos and trying different ties, I'm finally smiling at myself in the mirror. Blessed be :)

Hi, I'm a Catholic woman wanting to cover my hair with a scarf. I also feel the need to dress more modestly, i struggle with both. But i was wondering if i were to wrap similarly to the way you woman wrap your hair so beautifully if it would be considered offensive. Some people seem to think certain hair covering or ways a scarf is tied belong to certain groups,
. And personally i don't wish to be offensive, but i do wish to be more modest and to be frank it seems to me there seems to be a corrolation between wearing a head covering and growing in holiness. I love the manner in which you wear your head scarves. As a traditional Catholic would it be considered offensive to cover my hair in this fashion?

I'm not Jewish, but I live and work in an area of Melbourne, Australia, that has a large Jewish community, and this video in particular has been really informative; I now understand why I see some Jewish women wearing tichels, some wearing sheitels, and some not covering their hair. (And I really want to find out where to buy these beautiful scarves in Melbourne!)
My question is a linguistic one however. You use some non-English terms in your video, and some I recognise as Hebrew, but there's one I don't recognise at all. At 7:22, you say "That's not her ______. That is not what she wants to be doing in this world." Could you tell me what that word or phrase is? Thank you, and Shalom. :)

Hi, she said, "That's not her avoda." Loosely translated it means work or job. It usually refers to spiritual work with me completes here on earth.

Only a married woman in Judaism covers her hair? I am not married but I would love to cover my hair the way you do. I am old, 73, no man is looking at me anymore. If it would be for Hashem, blessed is He, then I would do it.

Lately it's been to grow my hair back. So I slather coconut oil once a week, put the underscarf over that, and wrap as usual.
      My new snarky line:
      "Why are you wearing that?"
"My hair is soaked in oil under there, and it keeps the flies off."🐝🦟🐜🕷🦗🐝🐝
      What an image! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
      I think we're done now.😁

I have a question: I've been practicing wearing tichels to get used to them for when we convert, but when I have the tichel over the top part of my ears (like you have in this video), I can't wear it all day without a headache and my ears hurting. Do I need to wear my tichel a little more loosely over my ears? I just have so much hair, that if I wear it without part of my ears covered as well, that I have hair showing all over the place!

Emrysina You need to join the wrapunzel fangroup on facebook - the ladies on there can help! Basically yes you can wear behind your ears, but you need a no-slip headband!

Is hair covering halacha, or minhag? If the former, pls give citation, for those of us who don't know. Thank you.

Segula Love it's a halacha for married women only. You can only show a fistful length out if you want (like your bangs)

+Ithila Some do and some don't. Often it's a personal choice and requires the guidance of a knowledgeable Rabbi.

Ty for the enlighten and the education. As a English professor who came to Messianic Judaism from Christianity, not only do I read but i anayze looking for the balance that brings clarity and concise information. I find head coverings a beautiful Mitzvah, one that was ordered by Hashem. This I understand well. However, please forgive my boldness, and I will share this with the most highest respect, their is a difference between a tichel and a shichel. We have a beautiful Jewish friend who's wig is more elaborate, decorative, and not as modest as her own hair. She gets more heads turning to her than if she would walk around with her own God Given hair. There is nothing modest about certain wigs. They are expensive and made out of real hair. Whats the difference? Absolutely none. Hashem gave us our own beauty. There is a difference between a commandment and a man made tradition. No where in the Torah, does it say to wear tichel or a shichel specifically. It just says wear a head covering. The purpose is to cover your hair, why? Because it's flashy and calls a man's eye. But if a wig does the same thing then how is this staying modest and obeying that Mitzvah. We as humans always complicate and over exaggerate Hashem. At end what you use on your head is your business. But we should always be mindful that when you do follow a Mitzvah you are doing it understanding how it should be done and not adding in things that defeat the original intent in the first place. That's when harmony truly takes rhythm.

If this is a command from God to cover, why do you cover? Doesn't it state in the Torah the reason? In Islam women cover so as to not attract attention from the opposite sex. The woman's beauty is supposed to be reserved for her husband. So why do you wear something on your heads that is pretty. Isn't it hypocritical to cover your hair with hair that is prettier than your own hair---a wig?
