the amy winehouse concept was def sprinkled throughout, but with the general concept being about an artists comeup, dealing with fame, rejection, vulnerabilies, etc. it can be appreciated without really knowing about amy winehouse's specific story or the direct inspiration behind the album

I will say that, going and listening to Amy winehouse after this album made me appreciate what Lupe did a lot more. Cuz I wasn’t too familiar with a lot of her work but after hearing 2 of her albums I can see where Lupe was going with this and I appreciate him for opening my mind to artist I wouldn’t usually listen to

If you haven’t checked out professor Skye’s review you should he does a great breakdown of the concept and the album absolutely hits the mark. But I agree you can listen without knowing the concept.
