Winchester Model 1894 and the P.C.M.R.

- Winchester Model 1894 carbines in .30/30 were issued to the Pacific Coast Militia Rangers (P.C.M.R.) in World War II. They were located in both British Columbia and the Yukon, in Canada. This video covers these carbines in detail and the circumstances of why they were issued. The P.C.M.R. were issued with other weapons as well, but these are not covered in this video. The boys and men of the P.C.M.R. were a form of "Home Guard", locals who knew their areas and who could work with the Canadian Army, Royal Canadian Navy and Royal Canadian Air Force in case the Japanese attacked British Columbia, Canada.
Was there any real danger given that Japan was over 7,000 Km away from B.C.?
What could Japan do to attack B.C.?
Did Japan ever attack anywhere here on the West Coast of North America?
Is it true that the Japanese invaded and captured part of the USA?

Great video, my dad (US) was 4F so didn't participate very much, he taught mechanics for vehicles. He found a bomb in the Lochsaw ranger district in 1955 while fishing.
Nice video of something I knew nothing of. Hats off to the brave men who served. Nice to see that older men did their part and to the government who would let them do it.

Interesting story. It could be the basis for an Alistair MacLean style adventure novel. Japanese submarines land invasion force on the isolated B.C. coast.

I had to leave a lot out as this video was originally twice as long. I expect there are lots of videos about these fine firearms and their use … otherwise 7 million would not have been sold and the army issued examples are the minuscule minority.
