I really wanted to love it........ after about 15 print outs I have a perpetual paper jam. I have done everything I could find to fix it. I should have taken the amazon review to heart.

Your daughters are adorable! I ordered this printer today! BTW, my daughter and I were in East Berlin before the fall of the wall. I must remember to print some of those pics! Love your old Macs. I believe the larger one was called the “Lisa.” I had the original 512 K!!

Hello! Thank you for your detailed review. May I know if the photo prints are sturdy enough to be sent in the mail like a postcard? I know it won't be as thick as regular postcards, but does the print feel like it would survive in the mail? Thanks!

Had to send mine back. Wouldn’t print because it said very low battery even plugged in for a couple hours! Hope the replacement is better.

I have the Bolle Photo Plus BP-280 which is a 6x4 Di-Sub printer (very similar to the HP Sprocket) which no longer can be used after IOS 10 came along as the app was never upgraded.
I guess the same may happen with the HP Sprocket Studio after IOS has a few upgrades.

Can you do a review of an inexpensive film scanner? I have miles of film strips from cameras taken in the 1980s and 1990s. I have them developed on 4x6 paper, but I would like digitize them. Instead of scanning from the photos, I want to scan from the film negative source to get higher resolution.

Yes hi thanks so much for your video for you really do help simplify things on your video !!! I have trouble with my eyes so I thank you !!! I had a question that I hsvfbg seen anyone address so my question is..why is it when I go to print a pic on my Sprocket Studio Maker I keep getting a line or 2 faintly streaking vertically when the pic comes out and yet on the pic itself there’s no streak or line on my photo when I snap the pic from my iPhone..thanks !!!

I love your video and had no idea this printer can do so much. As I am printing out pics, I am getting lined across. There is no firmware update. I have also tried to print collages and it not working. Trying to get through to HP is not easy.

Is that still working? I saw a lot bad reviews about bad quality. Some of customers said after few months the 🖨 printer broken up.😞 not only this brand. So I still consider to buy or not .

Great info, way beyond what I was told at the Apple store.
    Update:
The printer had several updates. it once worked fine, it died. It was under warranty and it was replaced, the next day. Great.
I cannot connect to the new printer, and customer service no longer really cares because they have lived up to the warranty. I’m supposed to get a call from the tech department. If they have called they haven’t left any messages to let me know they made an attempt.
Then I get a call asking if they called. I’m in the woods in the middle of nowhere rural Midwest. The calls drop or they hang up with my frustration. I think it’s the latter. Call center is in India. I cannot understand the associates English. If you are hiring people for a call center you have to hire people who can communicate. Everything is repeated multiple times.
After a conversation with my camera store the bottom line is that this is a toy. It probably costs under ten dollars to manufacture and they charge $149.
    My advice, pass.
When it works it works well, I don’t think the first printer was broken and I don’t think the current one is either. It’s a software issue.
I have enough anxiety over COVID, I don’t need this. Neither do you.

Some Selphy models run out of ribbon before papers, especially if you start it many tilmes. Say printing out one or two each time. So you would need to go through the whole pack and turn it off between each print before you know for sure that it doesn't waste «ink».

It's nice to see small dye sublimation printers for home use. One issue that might occur with these type of prints are scratches. You should have done the fingernail test to see what the result is.

    • @Narfs
      @Narfs Před 4 lety +1

Why? Do you ever scratch your nails across a photo or do you handle them with care?

I know this is an old question but for what it’s worth, I believe this printer lays down a clear coat over the dyes. I have a previous comparable HP model that doesn’t and it’s pretty durable. I’ve had photos fall out of an envelope in a damp, cruddy parking lot and I was sure they’d be toast but they were fine, surprisingly and thankfully. It’s just anecdotal and not the scratch test info you want, but I’d assume this one would perform even better with that added clear coat. Unless they put out a newer model soon, I’ll probably replace my older one with this one.

It is pretty cool, although i guess 44 cents per photo is not the cheapest you can go. Price is about the same as ZINK paper? So wait, if you live in apartment can someone from other apartment connect to this printer?? I know I can connect my phone to various TVs from other apartments (and they can connect to mine), luckily there is code security so no problem there.

They have discontinued this model. That is why so many people are having problems with the app. How do I know this? They replaced my sprocket studio with a sprocket 2.1. In other words the only digital version is the one that’s printing 2X3” pictures.
Do not buy this. Do not buy a closed out version on eBay. Eventually you will not be able to get supplies assuming that the app will support your printer.
I was told all of this by an HP exec in executive escalations. That’s how bad customer service is.
Buy a Canon. When you can. Tariffs are keeping them out of the country. You will not see much technology for sale this Christmas.

To bad you can't used other resizing apps with these, i have a Polaroid zip , it allowed me to make my prints very small great for my craft, but then they took away that feature and now its useless .

They updated the software and the printer wouldn’t connect. They’ve sent a new printer and it won’t connect. Customer service is an oxymoron. I will never buy another HP again. I’m waiting for Xmas for a big boy printer. There are 4 office HP printers in my business. You messed up because you consider this a toy. The software worked. Leave it alone.
Theoretically this is how it’s supposed to work. It doesn’t.

This printer is a piece of junk. The ink cartridge was stuck and difficult to remove the very first time I tried to change it. When I did get it out and put the new cartridge in, it tried to print and then RIPPED the ink cartridge. And don't think you are going to get any help from HP, they just told me to go buy a new printer. Seriously. Do NOT Buy this printer.
