I think you 2 should keep this YT thing up. You 2 are awesome...the Chef Approves
Thanks so much! We certainly plan to do more of these!
Honestly, you kinda were right, the ironsworn/starforged truths are amazing for worldbuilding. I was recently going through the starforged truths then took them and the resulting setting for a Stars Without Number game. Just wish there was more varied truths and settings for them. :)
They are incredibly good. I’ve got a separate video coming up where myself and a special guest go through the truths exercise and build a very cool world!
Great conversation guys!
Thanks for watching!
The Ultimate RPG Game Master's Worldbuilding Guide is an excellent tool IMO. I had a chance to play through two of the exercise with James D'Amato for our (now sadly defunct) podcast. It was excellent, especially for collaboratively filling out those blank spaces on the map and adding depth to in-world organizations and factions.
I agree completely. James was really cool when he came on my show and ran through the faction exercise with me.
@@errantadventurespod it might have been around the same time, he went on a bunch of podcasts and shows then, including tiny ones, like our little D&D show.
I wish we had more opportunities to develop the stuff we came up with in those exercises.
We made a bunch of pirate factions, including a scheme for retired pirates to run legitimate fronts for the illegal activities. Which populated the world with tiny little shops selling lace doilies or used books or homemade pies, all ran by a one-armed , scarred old geezer called Jeremiah Stabbington or something. 😂
Feel like I’m the only one whose show he didn’t come on
@@thebadspot hey, he's releasing the next book (for Game Masters specifically) in March! 😉
And I was so hooked to scup and the factions turns! What a great combination! Can't wait for something similar guys!
I'm only mad at myself that it took half the season before I thought to do that. Should've been rolling that factions from the start!
Thank you for sharing your experience on this topic for us. It's been super interesting!
Thanks for tuning in!
That was great.
Really insightful thoughts and opinions expressed here.
I want to run games like you guys have described running (without drawing a massive map with all details filled in). I would love to have nore of that cooperative world building in my games and you showed that it is possible!
I'm a huge fan of collaborative world building, it is one of my favourite things to do. Thanks for watching!
@@thebadspot thank you for your excellent work here on youtube!
@stevenisonline glad to have you on board!
Ok so here’s my question: Did homeboy keep using the faction turn mechanics after some time, RAW? I ask because I think the vast majority of people often use the SWN faction stuff to get going and then largely intuit or fudge it as they go along, so I’m always excited to hear about when people actually use and CONTINUE to use these mechanics!
I started using it around episode 20 of the season and used it every handful of episodes from there to the end of the 55 episode season to represent the changing factions in the city. I probably only did 5 or 6 total faction turns, but I would have kept using it. I can see why people would eyeball it after a little bit, but I enjoyed playing the mini-game.
Great question, thanks for watching!
Please keep doing these!
We’re recording again tomorrow!
Everytime I attempt to record myself (to start my own CZcams channel) I loose focus of the character/story and focus on myself and how ridiculous I might sound. Could you maybe do a video of covering your first time recording or your experience on how to get over that? Perhaps not the best to request a whole video just an answer would be nice thanks so much.
I think I’ll do a video on this at some point!
Amazing! Thanks, Matt for all your great content! @@thebadspot
