Why you should learn UX in 2024

  • We started 2024 by dropping some truth bombs and now let's rise from the ashes and build up our careers! Join our FREE daily UI challenges at hype4.academy
Of course it's NOT impossible to become a UX designer in 2024. It's still a good year to start but it may be one of the last good years - after that it will get significantly more difficult. There is the threat of 500 designers applying for a single job, heavy optimisation, extreme layoffs and AI taking the jobs over, so let me walk you through why this may not necessarily be the case - at least for those that are motivated enough to do more and better.
This is my goal for this community - to provide you both hard truths AND ways to still thrive. Without hacks, shortcuts and micro-tips - only a clear path forward.
And speaking of a clear path, thousands have already jumped onto my products and you can too:
GET my bestselling books (10,000 sold!) for just $27 (regular price $79) right here: hype4academy.gumroad.com/l/ui...
And you can use the code BLURRY2023 at checkout at all my other products:
    hype4academy.gumroad.com
The code is currently at 36% and it will go down by 2% every week so on Saturday it will change into a 34% discount.
Don't worry though, my courses and books help you get to the goal faster but I try to also share as much as I can for free here - it just takes longer and it's more divided into separate videos so it requires more focus from you as well.
In any case, if you're hard-working and motivated - welcome! You'll do well here!
    All the best!
    Michal!

@@arnav_1290rYou see, I don't have any professional experiences yet. I just started this path (I'm studying since september 2023), and now I'm heading to the 6th UX Design course by Google (Coursera).
I'm 20 now, but I'm from Brazil. Here, it seems to be nice, actually. Maybe it can be a little hard to find a job in this field, but I believe it's not impossible. Idk how it is in ur country tho.
About university, I don't see why not. Like, ofc u can be a designer without having a degree, but if u do, it'll be superb. It's a way to prove ur abilities, and if it's something that you like, go ahead! Knowledge is never enough.
Sharing my plans with u: rn my goals are to find a first job as a UX/UI Designer here in Brazil, save money and try to study abroad in Japan (I'd love to live there and be a designer there as well).
So don't be afraid. You're young, the sooner u start, the quicker u'll be working with this =) don't give up just bcs it's sounds difficult, follow your dreams and do what you like. The world is getting better, we can have this now. GLHF =)

thank you for this positive approach to the craft of design. I totally agree with you that a good basic knowledge, hard work, and having a good idea of what type of designer you want to be are important keypoints to keep your head above water.
Lately I see so many people who call themselves web designers, but meanwhile don't know what they are doing at all, have a bad website where the basic principles are already wrong, and meanwhile don't seem to be learning. It just frustrates me sometimes. I am so tempted to call them on it and explain what is wrong with their own website XD. Let me just focus on my own work, website and knowledge, I have more than enough work to do. :P

Haha this feels quite disingenuous compared to the "DO NOT learn UX" video. Not of these solutions are fixes to this broken industry. The "boring work" solution: spend time becoming a better designer, BUT WHY? So you can waist your new learned talents on drag & dropping the same old design system, or for the developer to strip your design of all that made it good? Also, as you stated, its an over-saturated market... its not like you can just quit your terrible UX job and get hired at some beautiful creative happy company. You literally have to take what you can get, and 99% of those jobs suck. I'm not sure what the answer is but it isn't staying in this steeply declining industry that's for sure!

    • @MalewiczHype
      @MalewiczHype  Před 2 měsíci

I don't think it will "replace" designers at all, it's what most designers fear. What AI will do is make a lot of design work happen faster so there may be less people needed but AI won't do design on its own. You don't need a design background but you need A LOT of motivation to grind super hard for 1-3 years to learn it before those AI tools become ubiquitous.

Can't proportion and balance be achieved by auto-layouts too? And what about the probability of human error that arises from using manual-layout?

When looking for full time job and you get interview requests or rejection.
Ever wonder what the hiring manager, is a designer, you can't find their portfolio anywhere online. 🤔
Also, other designer manager's portfolio website and domain expired or the content is outdated. 🤔
Maybe you can freelance and update their stuff, think about it 😅

Freelance is a safe bet either way - you get experience, you get some money and once you get better at it you may not even want a full time job anymore.

Thank you so much for the video, sir. Do you remember me? I was the one who mocked you for making a video about UX on Instagram.

AI can never replace UX Designers. Never 👎

Sadly - it will. Not right now though and probably not very soon. But it will be able to do 98% of typical designer work within the next 2-3 years.
Truly forward thinking designers should embrace it and pivot into leadership roles - problem solving is a skill always worth having.

1:24 TOTALLY - companies would rather take on a post-graduate, beautiful girl with some idiotic diploma rather than a wizard with 15 years of experience costing 3 times as much. Generally, what has happened, is the thing that HR wanted to happen in the programming area only programming is too difficult to pretend you know what you are talking about.

I don't think they judge based on beauty at least not from what I've seen. They do judge by monetary value heavily though. And to many companies an expensive senior won't really change as much when they have multiple limitations.

Sure but how would i ever get a job when there's hundreds, sometimes thousands of people applying for the same ux position?

    • @MalewiczHype
      @MalewiczHype  Před 5 měsíci +7

Do freelance and non-profit work first (that's way easier) and when you have ANY real world experience in your resume (not just course projects) you're suddenly in a better position than 95% of those "thousands of people".

    Interesting video, but…
“My subscribers on average have a bigger chance to succeed in this industry.”
Any actual data to prove this claim, @MalewiczHype? I’m curious where the average comes from. 🙃

2-3 emails per day every day for 3 years from people either getting their first job or a promotion, some that started with me in 2021 are already on senior positions 🫡

This channel is very strange. One video he tells you all the reasons to be in UX and in another video all the reason not to be in UX.
