Hello, I’m 17 years old and was in a car accident earlier today. I was with my little sister who’s 9 in the car. The problem is I only had a Learners Permit. The police let me know if wasn’t at fault because it was the driver who ran the red light while I had a green one (there was an eye witness). I was issued a citation and I have court in a month. What do you think will happen? Will there be a fine? I made an appointment for a road test before the crash even happened so does that help? Thanks. I’m in the state of Georgia.

Hello, my licence got suspended because of a miscommunication between my doctor and the MTO. So I went to the ER one time and the doctor told me I should drive for that day because I had a sever headache. I agreed not knowing he had sent a letter to the ministry that I had a seizure. A month after I received a letter of suspension and went back to my doctor. He did some test and told me he had sent the results to the ministry and I should be able to drive now. I got stopped one time and the police said my license had been suspended. I called my doctor and he said he sent everything to the ministry. I called the MTO nad they said my doctor didn't send the results. It was a back and forth until my doctor sent another report to the ministry saying I have seizure and it has been cure. I don't have seizure. I was able to get my licence reinstated and I have a court case coming up. What advice do you give?

This reminded me of a guy from Germany, 'Gregor', in our college friend-circle, 1998-ish. When one of us got a suspended license, this conversation followed (paraphrased, with phonetic spelling, and from memory):
    - Someone asks: Hey, Gregor, what happens in Germany if one drives on a suspended license?'...
    - Gregor replies: 'Vell, you can't drive with a suspended lizense.'
    - Someone else: 'Ok, but WHAT IF one did anyway?
    - Gregor: 'Vell, joo caan-not!'
    - One of us: 'Yeah I know you're not ALLOWED to drive, but what if someone DID ANYWAY?'
    - Gregor: 'Joo are not ĂŒnderZTANDink! Vit un ZUSPENDAT LIZANCE, ja CANnot DRIFF!' (His accent got heavier when agitated/excited- an endearing trait).
I always laugh when it comes to mind...

😄 That's a funny story! Gregor's insistence really highlights a common misunderstanding about suspended licenses. Just like in Germany, driving with a suspended license is a serious offence here too. It's not just about 'can't', it's about 'shouldn't' due to the legal consequences. Drive safe and remember, 'ja CANnot DRIFF' with a suspended license! đŸš—âš–ïž

Missed a support payment lost license therefore lost job car and a way to work. Then Florida suspended my suspended license multiple times while it was already suspended . Now they want like 4 reinstatement fees for one license suspension. Am I under the control of the Mafia or is this what I get for paying taxes? Should I move to a different country to avoid extortion? Not sure what to do? I’m being forced into poverty by the people I pay taxes too. Isn’t that a little bit counter productive? Would love to hear the excuse for ruining their own economy, thanks.

Appreciate the advice but almost everyone getting extorted has been completely drained of all resources. I was in a motorcycle accident which destroyed my leg was the whole reason i missed payment then the Judge which saw xrays and my healing process on paper found me with the ability to pay. His facts and findings were, Debtor claimed wife is paying his bills. Then issued a contempt of court against me and the only money i had to give him was the money Fema gave me to fix the roof of my house after hurricane damage in order to not be caged with diseased and dangerous people. Pretty much extortion at this point. Not surprised tho given our current standing in the world today on a global stage. God Bless this Nation huh? Thought about buying a Russian flag actually. @@NextLaw

In Ontario, it doesn't matter if you didn't know your license was suspended. You can still be charged with driving while suspended. The reason is that driving isn't a legal right, it's a legal privilege. And when something is a privilege, it's your duty to always know if your license is valid or suspended. Hoping for a good outcome for you.

When I was 15-16 I drove without a lisence, I was drinking and driving.
I had loads of fines I paid off close to 2,000 or less.
I than went to get my lisence and paid a reinstatement free of 280.
I went back to the drive test center and they noted it was still suspended, it was suggested I pay 680 to do back on track.
I paid and did it and it is still suspended.
I told back on track I never had a lisence, I have a lisnece nukber but never had a official lisence such as a g1, I was a youth when this happened and didn’t think I had to do back on track but I did it.
Past forward I still haven’t recieved nothing from back on track about my next steps being I was charged as a youth, and your suppose to have a interlock system in your car which I don’t freaking have!!! I’m so confused I even called to seek information and they said it shows nothing from back on track!!
I’m a single mother and have worked hard to get where I am from when I was 16 and it’s so frustrating .
Do you have advice? I feel like I got screwed over yet no one could explain why I had to do bs k on track even if I was a youth, why it’s still suspended, what the steps were after I did it..
    Any advice

Thanks for taking the time to write such a detailed overview. I am sorry for your situation; it certainly is frustrating. Assuming your charges were in Ontario, I would contact the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario (MTO) to explain your situation and get guidance on what to do next. Given your scenario is dated, your best bet would be to escalate your inquiry to a senior staff member at the MTO. Best of luck to you.
