Singapore had protection by 4 other country with five power defense agreement. Police make a lot work to control the citizen from inner danger. So, don't worry, as long as British not losing any war, Singapore will be fine.

Lol comments like these show just how much we over-glorify the Army. Yes its a good and noble thing, thats for sure, but who is proving to be more effective right now? The police. They're dealing with real life situations, not simulated training exercises. At the current moment, which job is more deadly? The police. Police officers in Singapore get injured or die on a much more frequent basis than those in the Army. But that does not mean the Army should not be glorified. At the end of the day, both forces are entrusted with protecting the nation, and both forces deserve the pay the get. The only difference is, in the CURRENT situation, police officers are in a wayyy more risky situation than armymen and thus get paid more. That's also the reason why those in the civil defence as firefighters get paid more.
