- Part 1 of 3. My visit to Dover Castle and the Secret Wartime Tunnels, my first in 15 years despite living in Dover for many years on and off. Unfortunately i was not allowed to film or photograph the immersive experiences due to copyright ownership from the Imperial War Museum, however I was able to get some footage of the end of the tour. The tour covers the start of the second world war and the evacuation of Dunkirk as orchestrated from within by Admiral Bertram Ramsay.

The wartime tunnels are only part of the huge tunnel network under Dover Castle. I also visited the wartime hospital.
Part 2 features a tour of the castle grounds and the Medievel and Napoleonic tunnels...

I went there for a school trip in yesr six around november time i really loved it since i love the war and history in general its really interesting once your in there I'd reccomend going there

Thanks for posting this. I was just there from America on the Sunday of the recent Bank Holiday weekend, and as you said, was not allowed to take pics or video. Now I can share your “undercover” shots with my friends to show them what I experienced. And what an experience it was. Truly walking in history. So incredible.

Matt Hill Thanks Matt. It would definitely be worth checking out the joint membership for English Heritage (upto 6 kids under 19 can go with the adults) rather than for paying for the family for one day only. I plan on visiting dozens of these places over the rest of the year.

Brilliant video, thanks for putting up. Visited there some years ago but did not think it was value for money, the guide who took us around the tunnels was not very good except to moan about the next tour coming behind us. No time to look at the exhibits. Never been back. Your video explains more. Thankyou.
That's a shame, thanks for comment, I didn't want to do a sneaky video of tour as would be a spoiler and deprive the charity of money but I was lucky and had a good tour, I will go back at some point soon

tooth8888 Thanks, I kind of knew this part was going to be difficult and did see some footage on CZcams that had been done a while ago, I'm guessing before these rules, however in that footage there were camera flashes going off constantly so not a bad thing that they have banned photography/filming as the experience was much better than trying to see past someone else's held up smart phone and flashes ruining the various projections in the tunnels that tell the story
