Damn Kassem. That’s kinda heartbreaking. I loved those california on and askassem videos. Have been following you for 10 years now and it was always nice to know that even though you won’t return to them, I could always come back and rewatch something. Whatever makes you feel better, man, I’m happy if you are. But damn.
(Hoping for some hardcore fan out there who archived his CZcams library in advance, anticipating that Kassem would do a mass "privating" of his library in the future...)
I’m gutted, I came back to watch all those videos every once in a while just because they were so good. I’m also disappointed that he apparently doesn’t realise that people do in fact see that he’s playing a character and a lot of times he was actually also just wholesomely poking fun at people. It was all just jokes
I'm gonna sound harsh but when our culture inevitably goes back to being less puritan and Kaseem inevitably once again conforms to the new attitudes of his in-group, he's going to make those videos public again.
Kassem was a voice of a lot of young guys. I remember when I first watched his vids and that cheeky, smart ass charm was fucking epic. He carried this suave, nonchalant demeanor that was simply fascinating. And what this did was emancipate a lot of young guys, some losers, misfits, basement gamers etc to something respectable, that they had a place. Kassem was an ambassador for so many, warts and all, and I dont know how much hes aware of that. This platform has been awesome to see him as he is, that attentive openness to ppl, his consideration and tenderness with you both. Honestly, I love the guy and just wish he'd smile more!

I’m sorry Kassem, but you are wrong. Your California On was pure genius! I hope you’ll realise that soon! Funny or not, offensive or not. That was the purest form of true comedy! You were brilliant and I hope that you realise that the joy you’ve brought into peoples lives outweighs everything you feel that you may find relevant. The world needs more guys like you removing consequences and worries out of the equation. It was beautiful and I’ve cried of laughter so many times watching you. You are the best man!
So I really like hearing about Kass on the apps and the current stuff they have going on, we get lots of stories from the past that I like and Jamie talks about what she's up too lately. The volgs have been good and I'd like if you guys came up with projects or what you want to do besides this podcast then use the podcast to get feedback or let's us know what paths you want to take while your still young and healthy. Great episode as usual!
Kassem says he would never cave in to cancel culture, but I think that's definitely what happened. It's understandable, but it's also a bit of a bummer that we can't revisit those videos. Maybe one day we are past that and they're suitable for the current internet environment.
i can't speak for Kassem but when I watched those videos back in 2011, I thought they were funny but I was also still in high school. considering we're all grownass men now, being famous through videos where the basic plot was "let's ask attractive young women offensive questions for views" is something i would pretty embarrassed about now. and if we're being real here, if kassem is trying to meet someone his age on a dating app, those videos definitely give off the vibe of being immature and not relationship material - even if they're from 10 years ago. it's not about cancel culture, it's just about growing up

Disagree. The videos featured plenty of men as well. It was good comedy and I still enjoy the jokes that were in them. If someone can't see the humor in them and rejects kassem based on them, then maybe they're not a good fit to begin with. The humor in the videos was and still is solid. Doubt relationships or dating had anything to do with the removal of the videos.

Oh my God Cass I never felt something so hard in my life when you were describing the girls on dating sites with the Lululemon pants on top of mountains hiking being active. those are the ones I stay clear of but they’re all like that it’s the most annoying overdone picture ever, amen brother!

I've been a fan of Kassem since 2010. One of my favorites of his (that I understand being taken down) was an animated short where the character would abduct people & cover them in wrapping paper. He's a wrappist.

Nobody was gonna "cancel" kassem, most people understand that he doesn't find the jokes he used to make funny anymore and that he's moved on as a person. There might be some people on twitter trying to claim he's a bad guy but there isn't nearly enough to actually do anything about it. If someone gets "cancelled" it's usually for much worse things. I love kassem's videos but if he wants to private a percentage of them it's really up to him nobody was gonna make him do that.
