SEE WHY KISUMU IS NOW CALLED YUROP

  • In this video, join me as I fly to Kisumu to find out why people refer to Kisumu as Europe. #Kisumu #Yurop #KisumuYurop
The City of Kisumu is undergoing a rebirth through a well thought out and structured urban renewal as outlined in Governor Nyong’os Manifesto. The transformation is reflected in the ongoing major infrastructural developments.
Early last year, the County Government embarked on a major beautification process to give the City a new look and bring back its lost glory. This beautification process has today received a boost after the County Government through the City of Kisumu partnered with local Corporate entities to complement its efforts in improving the face of the City, positioning it as a true African City for the Future in line with the Africities Summit theme, “The role of Intermediary Cities in Implementing Agenda 2063 of African Union and Agenda 2030 of United Nations”.
Kisumu Boys and Kisumu Girls High Schools are both set for demolition and relocation out of the CBD to give space for expansion of the CBD.
Kisumu Governor Prof. Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o has inaugurated a Kisumu Car Free Day where residents won’t drive or ride into the town but just walk like they do in Kigali, Rwanda.
CS Mohamed defends Ksh498m renovation of world-class Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium after public criticism. As the facility is about to be launched during the Madaraka Day celebrations in Kisumu, some Kenyans expressed dissatisfaction over the perceived quality of work on the lakeside facility.

Am impressed with the developments being carried out by the Kisumu county administration headed by Prof. Anyang' Nyong'o as the governor, Kisumu city has potential to become a city that can be equated with cities of first world going by a taste of what we are experiencing now. Instead of demolishing the two historic learning institution i would suggest they be merged and metamorphosed to a world class university. Move out the bus park to outskirt of the city as planned to Nyamsaria, Mamboleo and Otonglo respectively. The economic expansion will be surprisingly immense. The students of KB and KG need little distraction caused by the matatu and the influence of the city since their age can not tolerate such hence i suggest a land should be located between Rabuor and Korowe to place KB and another be located around Kibos to place KG. All these changes will bring positive change in expansion of the City.

Kisumu's new CBD should happen on the land just behind the Maseno University tower all the way to the Water Institute by the Railway Station. In fact, The Railway city had been designed for that part, it just lacked investment.

Create policy's that will invite investors in Kisumu both local and international investors. Kisumu has the potential to be bigger than Nairobi. The governor should look into the policies to change Kisumu and its youths, just a beautiful city with no employment wont matter to anyone.

TUK, UON, St. Peters Cleavers, Moi avenue Primary etc are education institutions in cbd yet we also have newly coming up cbds like Westlands, Upper hill. However I salute our governor for the great work he's doing to give our city a new look. Thanks

Who is a leader? A leader is someone who does more than just leads people. They must be driven by the right motivation and make a positive impact on the people around them. A leader is someone who can see how things can be improved and who rallies people to move toward that better vision. Leaders can work toward making their vision a reality while putting PEOPLE FIRST. Leaders need to be empathetic and connect with people to be successful.
Leaders do not have to come from the same background or follow the same path. Future leaders will be more diverse, which brings a variety of perspectives. The most important thing is that our communities are united, but we are disappointed with the division in our leaders from Western Kenya. All of you want to be the President at the same time which is difficult, and you know that this is because of selfishness.
What is difficult for you to come together and agree to support one of you? Citizens are ready to endorse one of whom you will all support. Stop dividing citizens, bring all people together for a better future. Come together and give us one of you. We are waiting for your response.

Would love to see other African cities compare to other African cities. I wonder how does it compare to Kigali Rwanda for example 🤔

We simply use the best standards. We cannot run away that European cities have got more advanced infrastructure. It’s not about a lack of patriotism, it’s simply comparing ourselves to the best standards out there. If it was about patriotism, the people with the most African, Kenyan for that matter, names, are the ones who loot public coffers meant for their countries improvement in the worst ways possible. Sounding African, dressing African and Africanisation does not necessarily mean having Africa’s best interests at heart. If the actions of the founding fathers of many African states in Sub Saharan Africa never taught you that then nothing will.

@@paschalnyamogo6959 Europe standards are not the best. Places like Dubai Singapore out do them . The problem is we are leaving our stuff for Europe while trying to copy them. The muswaki, African print materials hakuna matata etc have all been taken over by Europeans we have wealth but can't see in a few years most of our children won't even know their mother tongues

Luopean city I have to say. As for relocation... if the county govt can afford to buy and build a modern highschool in big plot just outside the city why not ...they have to build and equip it with modern facilities to make them attractive also they have to be accessible.
