    I’ve stayed here. It’s an absolutely beautiful property with so much history. In my opinion, it’s a steal for the price.

      @@sheepnomore8063 it was and May still be. It was built by my ancestors who are buried in the back of the property nearer the river.

      There is no evidence that this property has ever flooded in its multi-century existence. If you want a waterfront property, then you must live on the water.
      My experience is that those who are irrationally trepidatious about waterfront properties are those living in some dull, inland zip code and can't afford to live waterfront.
      Wildfires and earthquakes out West, blizzards in the Midwest and Northeast, tornadoes in the Plains - every region has its climactic hazards. The only part of the country that actually experienced distinct issues relating to flooding and hurricanes is the Gulf South (from Fort Myers to Houston). The Virginia Tidewater is one of the best regions in the country - aesthetically, culturally, economically, and climatically.
