"The Watson deal was something the media was more focused on" EDC basically saying that Lamar wasn't looking for fully guaranteed like we were saying all along.
180 fully guaranteed over 5 years is quite alot except to other peoples who thought it would be like 133 million or something guaranteed lol, i would say what makes lamar the winner and other peoples the Loser though is the 260 million (80 not guaranteed) being higher over 5 years than both Deshaun and Jalen. This was an absolutely* brilliant interview and great responses from DeCosta. Those who don't like Florio are simply nuts. They don't understand the business of the NFL, and thus some of his content goes unnoticed or not understood, regarding the nuance Mike consistently provides.
Edit: DeCosta did a masterful job of traversing the question of the DeShaun Watson deal. Eric is the lead on this front, as his QB is the closest caliber player to Watson, but he did not want to say the Browns made a bad deal, because it is going to hamper the franchise for years to come, while simultaneously saying, we are competitors, and want to compete for the ultimate prize for years to come.
It was a genius level response to a real honest question we all want to know more about.

@@chuletajones6833 seems more like he did the “cry until you get what you want” tactic more than anything in trying to set the market for guaranteed money or getting close to Watson’s figure, then realized he wasn’t getting that once Hurts got paid and the entire NFL decided it wasn’t going to give in to his demands, because only an awfully run organization like the Browns makes those deals. But I’m sure he did a great job understanding a lot of the technical components within a contract too.

Florio wasn’t wrong about Lamar. He needs an agent but is too dumb to realize that. If he had an agent he would have been under contract since 2021. Lamar has lost about 80 million dollars that are never coming back. Florio was absolutely right and is still right now. Lamar needs an agent. When he goes to ‘negotiate’ his next contract teams are going to remember this fiasco and are not going to want to be a part of it.
