The weather in the Battle of the Bulge was actually on Germany's side, as Allied air power couldn't fly and see them. Almost as soon as the weather cleared, the Bulge began to shrink.
C Ray Starling but at the same time mud and fog reduced German armor capabilities and what luftwaffe resistance could be offered.
(being armed with some Mark Felton knowledge)
Bad weather was more of pro than con for the German forces. Although Luftwaffe operation was planned with the Ardenne offensive the Luftwaffe had lost 80% of their experienced pilots over Britain and communications was so bad that when the operation did commence on Jan 1 a lot of the Luftwaffe offensive was down by German AA groups. I have a feeling the "Americans are bad at geography" stereotype comes from the policeman not knowing that Springfield is the capital of Illinois
ExplodingMemeYT I thought that said Stalingrad for a second
@Schlomo Shekelbergtransgenderstein Now I'm not an American but I have an American friend that is an expert at geography. I am also an expert at it.
@Schlomo Shekelbergtransgenderstein It's a stereotype, all of the videos and stuff you see about interviewing random Americans are politicized and cherry picked from the others they interview. The two main parties in America are constantly at each others throats and that even involves trying to make people of the other political affiliation look like brain dead idiots, and geography is one of their main methods. So whilst many American's do not know as much about geography and history than other developed European countries maybe but that's mostly the fault of the administration which often second's history and geography in favor of other things like language, arts and arithmetic however the vast majority of Americans still have basic knowledge of geography and history.
@Schlomo Shekelbergtransgenderstein Also lastly what do you mean by "is like Blacks trying to do science". Because if it is indeed your belief that people of dark skin are collectively bad at science that is also very wrong (and also pretty racist) and that isn't even a common stereotype from my knowledge, otherwise I don't understand what your saying.

"Cavalry may be scary, but not when you lead them into forests." -Oda Nobunaga
In the case of Hürtgen Forest, tanks are undeniably highly prone to annihilation.
@Dan Gurău he correctly cited the quote, and compared that quote to what happened in the forest.
Basically the point is that heavy and mobile forces offer little resistance in environments where their view is limited and their mobility nullified by the terrain.
The US had 50,000 Sherman’s vs Germany’s 1300 Tiger and King Tiger. So when they say “Tigers destroyed 1000 Sherman’s vs 500 Tigers “ it doesn’t show the actual picture. Because percentage wise it meant the complete opposite.

9:50 The Eastern front was such a deadly meat grinder for the Germans that demotion to private and reassignment to the East was being used as a punishment for Western front soldiers deserting their positions.
The fear of being sent to the Eastern front was a greater punishment/motivator than just being hung or shot for treason. That shows how insane the Eastern front was.

The story that General Omar N. Bradley was arrested by his own troops because the US Military Policemen thought that Chicago was the capital of Illinois - ROFL
What I maybe like mpst abput that story is how Bradley must've obviously been pissed the heck off. But also understood that if the MP (albeit unjustly) saw the need for arrest, he couldn't resist. Gotta respect the law. 😂
Now that was seriously messed up. I got a good laugh though..loool
wait what, why was he arrested because the mps thought that Chicago was capital of Illinois?
German paratroopers had landed in allied lines and were causing confusion, as they could speak English. So they started asking questions that only Americans would know, but the MPs thought Bradley was a spy since they figured Chicago was Illinois’ Capital.

Great detailed coverage. An interesting episode within the liberation of the Netherlands that is beyond the scope of this video is the Georgian Uprising on the island of Texel. Soldiers of the Georgian Legion - that were drafted in the German army and stationed on the island of Texel - saw the end of the war was there and they were on the losing side. Therefore they made a last stand and rebelled against the German soldiers on the island. You can call it a mutiny in some way. The Georgians were assisted by the Dutch resistance and a terrible battle started at the end of April. This battle ended on May 20th after the Canadians intervened. By that time around 800 Germans, over 500 Georgians and over 100 Dutch laid dead.
Wow! I am georgian and I have never heard of that story. Thank you for sharing it. I've googled some more about it and it's definitely very interesting.
History Hustle ive heard about this. After the war, the Soviet ambassador to the Netherlands visited the site every year in May until the collapse and paid his respects despite the fact that all the Georgians who survived got sent to gulags. The German Wolf analogy is actually a really nice one.
Your story telling , production quality and logic display is almost overwhelming, amazing to say the least, thank you so very much for the efforts you put into this.
I would love to see you animate and tell the story of Operation Bagration, debateably possibly Russias most sucessfull Blitzkrieg offensive in WW2 and one of their most sucessfull campaigns other than Stahlingrad and Kursk where they had both times much higher casualties and far worse strategic supperiority
Glad you made the post about these videos not doing well; I may never have seen them if you hadn't. Wish YT didn't suck so hard at sending notifications. I thought that was the whole point of the bell icon.
These videos are excellent and deserve to be seen.
Been following this channel for years and the quality has been improving! Great narrative pause at the end, man. :)
I really appreciate the little details in this video. For example, late into the video, you can see that the germans are using more and more last ditch weapons.
For example 20:10
@Aiden Banana indeed.
And bloody infantry picture in frontlines map.
World War II: the most AMBITIOUS RPG project of the 1940s.

These were really good. Super informative and fun to watch.
My dad's friend told me that his grandad fought in Operation Market Garden, and survived. He apparently ended up holding the British flag at a ceremony later on
Dis DUDE was he captured?
@@goldenfiberwheat238 no, not as far as I was told
Dis DUDE so he escaped back to allied lines?
@@goldenfiberwheat238 yes I'm pretty sure he managed to either escape or get saved
@@goldenfiberwheat238 2 of the 3 Allied objective were taken by tanks. So he didn't have to be captured or escape
