- God’s original purpose (from the beginning) with marriage was: Man and woman together to exercise dominion on behalf of God (Genesis 1:27-28). A married couple is the way for God to exercise authority over the earth. Not the man only or the woman only, but man and woman in perfect harmony together.
A second purpose is prayer. If man and woman pray together, the two are harmonizing in prayer are irresistible (Matthew 18:18-20).
A third purpose is two can walk together only in agreement (Amos 3:3). Walking together helps you harmonize.
Just like Jeremia had put a yoke on his neck, Hosea to marry a prostitute and Ezekiel to dig through a wall, a married couple also has a prophetic responsibility. With your marriage you portray the relationship between Christ and His Church (Ephesians 5:22-23, 32).
