in the scenes where jennie and lisa shut the doors down, kind of represents the end of those eras, and when rose pressed the up button in the elevator is to show us how there’s a new era coming and there’s only the way up for them!

Almost every scene is a callback to a previous music video. The rainy pier Lisa is on is from Playing With Fire (when it was on fire); the 4 of them driving with the pink background w/ palm trees is the beginning of Boombayah; the diamond tank is from Ddu du ddu du; Lisa’s truck with garbage bags is from Boobayah (but filled with pink money this time); Jisoo with the umbrella is from Ddu du ddu du (but it’s raining money instead of sparks); the bathroom scene with Jennie with a lit match is a recreation from Playing With Fire (plus the jewel heart from Kill This Love is on the table next to the tub); Rose on the globe is from Whistle (but now the world is black and pink instead of looking like the Earth); Rose driving the Lambo is similar to her driving the purple-ish car from Kill This Love; the pink katana Lisa uses to “cut” down / break records is from Ddu du ddu du; the scene with Jisoo with the camera has her paparazzi scene from Ddu du ddu du in the background; Rose swinging on the chandelier is from Ddu du ddu du; the 4 of them in the car at the end is both reminiscent of Whistle but the projected background behind them is more like the one from Lisa’s rap scene in As If It’s Your Last.

They referenced every past music video, all of them - except collabs (that I noticed), I had fun matching the scenes and other throwbacks! But it wasn't just a straight copy, it was an upgraded version of the original! Also, I'm pretty sure the choreo is a mash-up of parts of their older choreo...

They SHUT IT DOWN This song throws SO much shade at their haters and doubters. The MV is an homage to previous MVs, it's jam packed with visuals and lyrics you have to watch it over and over to discover things. This is why they are where they are. IT'S GREAT😊👍

I think jisoo normally not wearing crop tops or more revealing outfits like the other members has been more a consequence of upholding her regal classy image that’s kind of unique to her. I don’t think wearing revealing outfits would do anything to diminish her image but from a marketing standpoint I always felt that was the reason. It could also be that jisoo herself isn’t partial to wearing anything too revealing though. the throwbacks made me smile and I caught some I missed watching this video! I hope you’re doing well
I'm my opinion the surface of the song was to diss haters but the inside meaning is.. Blackpink is reinventing themselves by shutting down the past and only elevate UP more from now on.

It's really good! If you've noticed that every moment harks back to popular scenes in your previous videos. "THIS IS NOT A RETURN AS WE NEVER LEAVE". This is a more than DIRECT answer to clueless haters, as people like to complain about them reusing ish. Smh… I love the music. Born Pink is the big pop album the girls of BLACKPINK were born to make. It's their return after a period of growth, when Rosé, Lisa and Jennie completed their solo debuts (hopefully Jisoo finds her sound soon). But it's faster, brighter and a lot more fun than the previous album “The Album”. the MV is a masterpiece and reminds me of how BLACKPINK gained their reputation and became more popular internationally for all the years since their first debut.
