hey everyone, i apologise if some of the artwork/editing in this video feel a bit lacking compared to some of my other stuff. the truth is i've been having issues with my hands & wrists that have been getting worse as of late (it's looking like rheumatoid arthritis), that made it difficult to use a pen or mouse & keyboard at times. but, i just really wanted to get this video out on my birthday (16th), as it's very fitting due to being pretty important! Though, this will be my last "major" video of the year (i have one more small "bonus" video coming in a couple of weeks). as i haven't had a proper holiday since the pandemic started (you kinda forget when you're not allowed to travel lol), i will be taking december off to rest, visit family, and come up with some new video ideas (i already have some cool ones in mind 👀). i know youtube has some issues telling people about uploads so i'd recommend hitting the notification bell if you haven't already so that you will know when i've returned!
in the meantime as i mentioned towards the end of the video, i've relaunched my merch store! i'm working with a new provider now and i'm really happy with the quality and some of the ideas they've helped me come up with. if you're interested it's still at www.chipflake.shop as usual, if you wanna get some stuff for christmas now's a good time!
thanks for watching this video and supporting me in general. i was a bit anxious to post this but it's something that's really important to me that i've been wanting to talk about for a long time (not just to stop the annoying comments lol). i hope you can understand, but i'm probably not going to read the comments on this video too much for my personal mental health. even if your community is super wholesome and supportive, someone will always find a way to say something gross. so i apologise if any of those types of comments get through, obviously if i don't delete it it doesn't mean i support it. please just do me a favour and don't respond to those people, just report the comment and move on. 9 times out of 10 those people don't even believe what they're saying and are just trying to provoke a reaction out of you
but yeah, thank you again for supporting me through almost 5 years of Chipflake videos, and 920k (!) subscribers, it genuinely means so much to me and i really hope i dont have something seriously wrong with my hands so i can continue making animationssssss :'D

We have similar origin stories, except I was in that weird subgenre of CZcams since young and realized around 17 just how shitty it was.
It took empathy to change, I put myself in another’s shoes. Then I thought back on all the years...of supporting such people. I cried. I felt so horrible. Overwhelmed, guilty and detached.
Learning empathy, being open minded and aware is what truly helped me. I can also relate to other things you mentioned❤

As someone who has only just started opening my selfe up for 1 1/2 years, I can really relate to your story!
I clearly can remember my self: 5 Years old, in long grass, sobbing about that i want to be a girl, not a boy.
But with the education system, bulling, social anxiety, fear of disappointing, suppressing my own feelings and years passing by, I just lived after what others wanted me to be, so I could be liked.
If someone referred to me as female, online or in RL, I always was happy about it. But it took really long until I gave this a second thought!
I identify as non-binary. But I don’t know if I am at the end of my journey.
What I know is, that right now, I am happier than ever before!

I myself found out I was a girl about a year ago. Half a year before that I had my first contact with other trans people after I made a Vtuber Avatar where I probably started to question myself, but I wasn't concious about it. The moment it hit me was when I got a few new IRL friends who are part of the LGBTQ+ community. My mental health is still not the best, but I'm way happier now.
It's also nice to see that creators I enjoyed for years had similar experiences (hope this sentence doesn't get misunderstood)

SAME! I've been telling people to use any and all but my pronouns actually change (I'm genderfluid) but I've told people because it could be annoying to ask to just use any and all. It's ended up that I only ever have my agab's pronouns used even when NB or my none agab pronouns.
That quote has made me think about what I want to do and not what I think others want to use. I don't know what that is yet but it is something I think is long overdue for thinking about.

This video changed my day and probably my life. I'm passing through some problems with sexuality and gender identity. I already talked to my parents because I couldn't hold it anymore. They said that "I'm too young". My dad explained the reason behind that, and as I expected he said "I'm too young because I do not have a lot of experience in my life" and I really understand it... but it's a lot to hold until my 16 years. This video could make me feel like someone understands me and know that people that I do not even know went through it or is going through it. I tried talking multiple times what I feel about me and my gender but I kept it for so much time that I do not even know who I am anymore.
if you are passing through the same thing as me, I want you to stay strong and do not change because of what others say.
(and there is bullying in schools because of that even today)

Hey, I dont know if your going to see this but do know that going through puberty is really confusing for everyone. Especially nowadays where questioning your gender and sexuality is sort of expected too, or atleast really visible online. Be yourself, do stuff, date different people and learn who you are, what you like and what you don't. Thats a lot more imporant than worying how to catogorise yourself. There is already so much change and insecurity there, and trying to make sense of it is logical. But the more you dive in to sexuality and gender the more you will question yourself. Because during that lifestage your trying to get a sense of self and the lhbt space gives those doubts of self a possible direction. That doesnt nessairaly mean it will fit you in a couple of years.
I wish you the best of luck with your dificulties, coming from someone who had problems back then too.

When you're a people pleaser, it's really, REALLY hard to NOT be the person others expect you to be. I'm really happy that you were able to find yourself, Chip! Also, your voice is still adorable.
Same here, I've always been the people pleaser....and to many different ppl as well.....so it's been somewhat of a challenge being able to please/figure out myself in a lot of ways.

From pretty early on I always felt like I had to be the people pleaser, people liked to tease me a lot about everything really so I always just went along with different interests and even different personalities a lot.....all the way up until when I was a teenager.
What got me to focus more on myself, not entirely sure, I don't think there was rly one specific thing or incident per se. I'd say it's probably a mix of figuring out what makes me happy the most for one (which is art), that was one of the things, that and I think getting to know more people as well; you see I never really had a ton of friends, in fact I went through some periods with ZERO friends, it wasn't until I began interacting with people more on you know like yt comments I began to realize myself more, which in turn actually has given me a couple of online friends, who are both pretty accepting and encouraging of my interests..... So uh yeah I hope that answers your question

you have always resonated with me ever since i watch on of your videos and still relate to you but i don't know how i could express myself so just see every thing i do as a necessary action instead of a fun activity and i almost never see passion in anything i do and i cant see any way to change that so all i end up try to have passion in just gets left unfinished. All of that causes me to second guess myself about everything i am and who i could be so i just see every goal i set as work that i need to get done and this burns me out really quick and even while writing this i don't know that what im saying about myself is even true.

It's way too reductive to be actually considered good. You cannot compare a whole trans situation with a headache, especially considering that said headache does not possibly bring you to have surgeries to change your body and take medications.

depends on the person, if someone always has excuses I'll stop believing them. I have a former friend (she treated me badly and also kinda ghosted me for 5 months and always had excuses why she can't talk or doesn't have time then I see her playing games online every day), well she texted me and told me she treated me badly and deserves punishment and punches (it kinda turned a bit to a weirdly sexual kinda bdsm chatting) and wanted to meet up with me, the night before she told me she had a car accident and that she couldn't come because of that. And I wasn't sure if I could belive her, she explained to me what happened. But I feel like we could have meet up still (she had the accident the day before and no one was harmed) also I know that she met with at least 1 person the day we were supposed to meet. Honestly I would have already blocked her if I didn't have felt that sexual energy, I'm still very mad at her but also physically very attracted to her.

As someone who recently discovered I was trans, I really related to that part of not feeling "trans enough". That's the one thing that kept me from finally admitting I was trans, as although I wanted it to be true, I was afraid of being wrong (happens when you get yelled at for every tiny mistake all your life). Loved this vid, even though I'm only watching it 3 years later.

This hits home for me despite being cis because of the whole "Anti-SJW" thing. All it takes to understand people is to stop dominating the conversation and let the other person speak their peace. Never seen your channel before but I can relate a lot to never thinking about what I want and focusing on what others want of me to the point that it's easier for me to do what others want than what I want. I'll get very nervous when meeting new people and friends where I'll be very skittish about everything until I can sus out their likes and dislikes, like each time I meet someone I need to craft a mask to wear around them.
