    What does ASMR stand for?
    Autonomous
    Sensory
    Meridian
    Response
    What IS ASMR?
A feeling of well-being combined with a tingling sensation in the scalp and down the back of the neck, as experienced by some people in response to a specific gentle stimulus.
Examples of different ways to experience ASMR~
    🧠Physical ASMR
Feeling calm, sleepy, tingly or satisfied while having your hair brushed/styled/touched, getting your forehead rubbed or your face touched softly while getting makeup applied. Someone softly tracing upon your back.
    🗣Auditory ASMR
Feeling calm, sleepy, tingly or satisfied while listening to a particular sound that triggers you. There are several different sounds that may trigger this feeling; such as a whispered voice, typing on a keyboard, water swishing sounds, listening to someone write, turn pages in a book, tap on objects, etc.
    👁Visual ASMR
Feeling calm, sleepy, tingly or satisfied while observing someone create art, slice foods, carve soap, wood, candles, trace over shapes/letters with their finger or a pointer etc.

I never had interest in Atari until my youngest wanted one because he thought it was so cool that they made something that could play games back then, and I’ve come to love the artistry and imagination of something so limited that brought the games home.
I spend a lot of my time cleaning retro games these days. Buy a lot of Q-tips, Goo Gone, isopropyl alcohol (highest strength you can find), Brite Boy and any all-purpose cleaning spray. If you’re serious about wanting to know how to clean them right, respond to this and I’ll type more, but it’s a lot to type otherwise...

Hey! I restore old video game stuff in my free time! The best thing to clean mechanical bits is 98% isopropyl alcohol (maybe a different % but high 90s works best). It also helps pull stickers off but the channel Odd Tinkering could explain a lot better.

I officially feel old. The very first video game system that I ever had as a very little kid was the Atari (well, it technically belonged to my parents since they had it before I was even born). Then, I got the NES in 1986 when I was 5 years old (I totally just dated myself). I actually remember having the E.T. game on Atari and I believe that it's probably still somewhere in a box in my parents' garage. Hell, my old Atari system and all of the games we had may even still be somewhere at my parents' house as well. I'll have to take a look when I have time.

    • Was the 8-track from before they were Grand Funk Railroad? 🤔
    • The switch is missing the spade-connectors (not that it matters, you can't connect an Atari to a TV made in the past 25+ years; it uses combined-AV RF output so you'll need some sort of converter to use it).

    • @matturban9103
      @matturban9103 Před 2 lety

0:00 Ohhhhhh another game collection vid from Prim... And it's on something from my childhood this time, Atari. This ought to be good... :)
0:55 The best way to clean old game cartridge contacts is with electrical contact cleaner on one end of a q-tip cotton swab and using the other side to dry them off. Then, let the carts sit for a few minutes to fully dry off or use a can of compressed air to force the issue. If you don't have electrical contact cleaner, you can also use 91% pure (or better) isopropyl rubbing alcohol. Do NOT use water or common household cleaners. For cleaning the external shell, just use a wet wipe and be gentle on the label. Some of those labels don't stick too well after 40+ years.
1:10 - 1:27 That's the 2nd revision of the Atari 2600 jr. model. The jr. model was how Atari re-launched the console in 1986 for $50 as a budget system. I have 2 of those in my collection.
7:15 Getting a console with a box full of games for only $35 is always a good deal. That being said, most old Atari 2600 stuff isn't worth much anymore. That market fizzled years ago after all the adults that played that system as kids reacquired what they wanted.
12:18 Yar's Revenge is usually regarded as one of the Atari 2600's best titles. It was also programmed by the same game designer that did ET.
12:49 Combat was the original system pack-in game. The system was first launched in 1977.
14:36 That's an RF adapter. You use it to plug the console into the coax port on the back of an old CRT-style TV. You don't need it if you get a Coaxial F Plug to RF adapter. They are cheap and easy to find on Amazon or Ebay. The new adapter would also provide a MUCH better signal.
19:32 Sure, I'll watch a cleaning video. Hopefully the info that I provided above will help with that...
*Games from this video that are also in my collection:*
    Basketball
    Bowling
Centipede (Pity that Atari didn't make this compatible with the paddle controllers.)
    Combat
    Defender
    Donkey Kong
E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial (It came with a collection I bought from a garage sale for $40. It's basically the bad penny of game collecting... You always eventually get stuck with one of them. :P )
    Enduro
    Phoenix
    Space Invaders
    Super Breakout
    Yar's Revenge

14:33 The switcher! My face lit up when I saw that. We're all used to consoles simply plugging into televisions and starting up with just the press of the power button, but the Atari 2600 didn't quite work like that. You needed to hook that device up to the back of the TV, and when you wanted to play the Atari you had to reach back and slide the switch up to "Computer" so the console could display on the screen.

This is the quickest that I've ever responded to a Prim ASMR video!! It's noon right now in Toronto. I'm in bed nursing myself back to health. I thank God for a beautiful and very talented ASMRtist like you! As the old saying goes, "Some may come, and some may go, but you have TRULY stood the test of time!" I have found that within the few years since I have discovered ASMR, you have remained the constant within my list of lists. ASMRtists have come and gone, but you are the sweetest constant in my life. I thank God for you in my time of needing peace and quiet, slowly but surely nursing myself during this unsure period, resolving my diabetic problems. May you get ALL that your pretty heart needs, wants and desires. I appreciate your sweet smile, your lovely soothing, silky smooth voice, the constant level of your voice's volume, and how in each and every video of yours you bring a new, refreshing, and exuberant youthfulness to them!! Thank you kindly for just being you. I think that you totALLy rock within the ASMR World, not to mention this world as well!! Lol just curious not trying to be rude but you look like you’re 17 just wondering how old are you? Because that game system was back in my day and I’m 38.

This was such a fun video! I've never owned or played an Atari, but I'm familiar with a lot of older games because I find '80's and '90's video games to be really interesting. I like to watch others play them on CZcams and also play some myself online. Space Invaders was one of the first video games to achieve mass popularity, and was probably the beginning of all the space-themed games. It even made it to the cover of Mad Magazine, with Alfred E. Neuman's head taking the place of the aliens. Breakout is also one of the earliest video games ever. Phoenix is a really cool early game. A lot of the games were space-themed back then because space shooters were the most popular arcade genre, along with Pac-Man type games.
I've played a lot of Defender, Centipede and Donkey Kong but am more familiar with the Colecovision versions. I wonder if Fast Food is a clone of Burger Time. A lot of games were clones of other really popular games. Combat is one of the earliest Atari games, I think it might have been one of the launch games around 1977. I've seen some people play it, and it's interesting that they included so many different modes of gameplay on one of the first cartridge games.
That's so funny you found an 8-Track and cassette tape in there! I love surprises like that!
Thank you so much for this video, Primie! I really enjoyed it!

I had one that was my older brother's. Me and my younger brother used to play it in our room. The NES stayed in the living room. And I figure you can clean them just like Nintendo tapes(that's what we used to call them back in the day. Tapes. Music was on tapes, movies on tapes, video games on tapes. Nobody said "cartridges".)

Some classic stuff here! FWIW, I think that "Yars' Revenge" was the absolute best original game (i.e., not based on an arcade game and didn't, to my knowledge, have any subsequent releases) for the Atari 2600. When you think of the limitations of the 2600, it's amazing how much creativity the designers eeked out in this game.

That is WAY fancier than the 2600 I had as a kid. Looks like it was trying to mirror the 5800 in styling.

The Jr came along towards the end of the 2600's life. Like most systems, it was a stripped-down, smaller version (like how the Sega Genesis Mark 3 was tiny and didn't have the peripheral connector).
