Sonic The Hedgehog 1 (Game Gear) - Complete Playthrough (Best Ending)

- This is a complete playthrough of the first Sonic game for the Sega Game Gear. I collect all the Chaos Emeralds and all the 1-UPs, so I get the Best Ending (and the 500000 points of Special Bonus that come with it). I also collect a lot of rings, though not all of them, and I enter all the 8 Special Stages as well. This is not a speedrun, as I explore the levels as much as I can, though they're quite linear so there's not much to explore. I avoided the Shield monitors on purpose because I felt the video would be more enjoyable without the Shield graphics making Sonic invisible every other frame (not to mention that the flickering also slows down the game quite a bit). I never get hit, anyway.
Throughout the video I often exploit a glitch which allows Sonic to travel at very high speeds, simply by rolling off a ledge (this is particularly useful in Labyrinth Zone).
Some of my subscribers who were paying attention maybe noticed that I uploaded a similar video yesterday, but there was a mistake in it so I quickly made another (better) playthrough and I deleted the previous one. this is 1 game i could play over and over, and its sequel which is my fave sonic game of all time. i was playing this a couple days ago and got to labyrinth and not long after it started lagging under the water my game just had a breakdown and reset itself coz of the lag, needless to say i was gutted lol -.-

Yes. I explained that in the video description, which you obviously didn't read. For one, having a shield makes the game lag a lot, not to mention that CZcams's stupid frame rate would have screwed things up even more.
One of the best sonic games. Though, what's the difference between the best ending and normal ending? Is there a bad or special ending as well?
If you collect all the 6 emeralds, as seen in this video, they will go up in the air, spin all over the island, and clean the pollution. If you collect 5 or less, nothing of the above happens. The screen fades out a few seconds after Sonic hits Robotnik in the ending Green Hill cutscene, and you go straight to the bonus count with all the pollution still visible around the island. You're still awarded 20000 points per emerald, though.
tl;dr 6 emeralds clean the pollution around the island, that's it.
In my opinion this ending is much better than in Megadrive ver. of the game.

Why is it that unlike the other zones of this game, the Labyrinth zone has spooky music that makes one think of Halloween?
