  • The only tramway network in the world that connects three different countries (Switzerland, Germany and France) also uses particularly long articulated vehicles from two different operators.
The green trams of Basler Verkehrsbetriebe (BVB) are complemented by the yellow trams of Baselland Transport AG. The latter mainly operates long interurban routes that also have significant overland sections south of the city, but still also loop through the downtown area. The green trams of BVB run both to Weil am Rhein, Germany and St. Louis, France.
While BLT uses very long Stadler Tango vehicles designed for overland running (hence their use of a Jacobs bogie), BVB has extra long Siemens Combino and Bombardier flexity light rail vehicles (LRVs). The River Rhine is crossed on three different bridges.
This film shows everyday operations in the city center of Basel and was filmed in March 2021.
