  • The artwork of Joan Miro looks very simple. But is it also easy to paint yourself? In this video I look at the Joan Miro artwork and especially the Joan Miro Constellations series. It looks a bit like surrealism art. It looks a bit like drawings of a child. Can it also be done with collage? In this video I will show you how I paint like Joan Miro constellations and also show the artwork of the participants of my painting course for extra inspiration.

In almost all my videos I use with Winsor&Newton Galeria acrylics, if not, I will say so in the video.
Other materials I use are in random order: 5, 10 and 40mm brushes, palette knives, acrylics medium, Ecoline liquid watercolor, Lyra color pencils, Lyra soft pastels, oil pastels, Stabilo color pencils, paper palette pad and basic masking tape. I also use household items like a permanent marker, scrub sponge, scissors, paper towel, and so on.

I know I am catching up on your videos and I have watched several. This is not my favorite artist, I tried hard to really like the style. Great guide and in time I want to give it a try. Thanks for representing him.

Hi James, thanks. What I learned from looking at art and making my videos is that ' I don't like' in my case often has to do with not knowing enough about the background of the artist, the style of painting or the art movement. Painting in a style helps me to get to now x better and turns it into loving the artwork. Maybe it can work for you too. Albert

Hi Albert, I really enjoyed the video and was wondering what age group are your students.
Their work cheered my heart. Some joyful interpretations there, thanks to all of them and
to you for sharing it. You are a wonderful teacher. Thanks for the videos.

Hi Peter, thanks. The age group is 40+ or 50+ depending who shows up. I'm always amazed by what they make. Funny thing, it's not in a big city but it a small village. Talented people live everywhere. Albert

Hi TJ, thanks. It's up to you. Do know the collage became complicated. Painting a background first and drawing on top of it was easier. Or take a smaller paper and try both... options, options 😉 Enjoy, Albert

@@ImperfectPaintings I definitely think background first looks the best way to attempt this

Interesting style, thanks for making it easy to follow. I was a bit confused though, I thought you were going to paint after all your pen work but you went down a different route by sticking on pieces of prepainted paper ... is one method preferable or were you just showing us different options... 😀

Thanks Trish, I often show multiple options to try, just pick the one that looks interesting, or try all to explore possible new materials or ways of working. Enjoy, Albert
