@andrewlavoie6034 probably because they either couldn't make the old animations work with hands, got a different animator, or just decided the style of the old animations didn't work for what they were going for.
If I ever get this game on PC i might try to mod the weapon animations to be a little smoother while still keeping the pace of the original ones. These are great, but maybe some Insurgency-esque animations might be cool too.

I own a real No.1 SMLE and, though it's clearly a fictionalized version inspired by the rifle, it's really nice to see it in games. It's not exactly unknown, but it's pretty rare compared to other versions. I love that it's in this game.
I do think a shotgun could be added to the game. Just a simple double barrel over and under shotgun with birdshot so you can shoot rabbits easier or even the birds. It might work as self-defense against wolves, but because it uses birdshot, it isn't a great hunting weapon.
Wanting to expand on this. Make it so you can find either birdshot or slugs, and you could swap between them depending on the situation. Gives the shotgun a multipurpose niche at the cost of ammo capacity (maybe make it rarer too?)

There's another animation for the distress pistol, if you press reload after firing when ejecting the shell, your character will put a new shell in without closing the action first, saving time in emergencies

I'm one month late, but the revolver in this game doesn't "jam". There's a gunsmithing skill that allows you to craft ammo from gunpowder, lead, and empty cases. All ammo has a "condition" percentage which determines the quality of the ammunition. Ammo you find around the map is always at 100% since it's mass produced, and as such will always work perfectly. But unless you have maxed out your gunsmithing skill, ammo you make yourself will come out at a lower condition, which means it has a chance to misfire when you use it. If you craft a bunch of 50% condition ammo, then when you fire it'll have a 50/50 chance of misfiring. What you see in the video is a misfire caused by using shoddy hand-crafted ammunition.
Alright I gotta get back to this apparently... last time I played there were 2 guns in the game (by that i mean no uniques)😂not counting the flare gun ofc, which is probably more useful tbh (at least back when I played)
Man the reload animation for the revolver is pretty nice too bad the hammer and cylinder doesn't move when firing. Otherwise it would be almost perfect.

You either have a colt python .357 swing open or a .45 colt SAA the sinle action army is specifically a .45 long colt the standard military round of the time and is not a swing open revolver it is a closed frame with a fixed cylinder.

The presence of military is also seen in the game. I think same types of rifles and revolvers is explained by a fact that it all comes from the military. I doubt there would be a point of buying specialized hunting rifle if you can get one from the military. People just modified them to fit their needs

All the revolvers here are smith & Wesson model 27, smith & Wesson triple lock revolver and a colt double action army M1892 revolver...
Finally single action means you need to manually pull back the hammer to fire opposed to all the revolvers in the video that are double action
