I went from a 2021 Tacoma to a 2018 Tundra Crewmax when we had a child in 2022. No regrets at all! I’m driving this thing for a million miles.
The only bad thing about my 2018 is that I probably won’t be able to get another like it after this one goes
My wife and kids love my 2nd gen crewmax tundra due to how roomy it is, it’s also been bulletproof with absolute zero issues and can tow quite well.

I have a 2016 crew max. I added 15k in accessories after I paid it off. It is still like new. It will probably be passed to my grandson when he is 18 and shows himself trusted and respectful.

Wrong! It’s the 5.7 with several million mile engines and my dad has the first gen tundra is much bigger than any Tacoma
Love my '19 Tundra SR5 double cab. I like to sleep in the bed on quick camping trips, and slept in it on the way to and from Alaska last year.

Sold my 2020 TRD off road Tacoma with the 5ft bed and purchased a 2017 double cab Tundra in quicksand ! I love the interior room, bigger than Tacoma and without sacrificing the bed space. Double cab all the way.

With my two kids I feel that my 1794 model Tundra from 2014 is perfect for my family. We do frequent road trips and some off roading it and this has been perfect. I can't imagine getting rid of it. Keep up the good content.

We are staring a new overland build and we just bought a 2020 Tundra Crewmax, moving from a 2012 Wrangler Unlimited. I have driving a wrangler for over 10 years. You forget what space and road comfort are really like.

2nd gen crewmax here. I went with the locking long box aftermarket storage from ESP. It is great, but it is not as deep as that underseat storage in your 3rd gens
I have the 2020 1794 I modded out to a beautiful overlander blacked out I love my truck I of course had a few 3rd gen loaners over the last few years while Toyota was doing some miner repairs (stirring rack) on my 2nd gen I like the power of the 3rd gen but I love getting back into my 2nd gen after driving the 3rd gen it just feels smoother to drive and way more comfortable then the 3rd gen in my opinion .

Just shy of 221k trouble free miles on my 2008 5.7L. Runs like new.
If they could have put the cabs of the 2nd gen on the 3rd gen platform plus have the 5.7 option that would have been perfect 👌
Depending on what you're doing, more middle hump in the back seat means the rear drive shaft is tucked up higher and you probably have more transfer case clearance
2nd gen double cab for me. 2010, so before the facelift. It’s hard to beat the 5.7
Double cab 2G short bed for me; preferably in cement or Army green.
I have a 17 TRD PRO crew max, I kinda wish I could have the 6.5 foot bed with the crew max sized back seats
Where did space go from 2nd generation to 3rd generation double cab back seats. Cause i had second now just bought 3rd and was surprised how much smaller
I think the rear of the crewmax could shrink 4 to 6 inches and add that to the bed it seems. Theres lots of space then theres just wasted space

As a 2021 TRD Pro double cab there are many things that disappointment me about the 3rd gen, but nothing disappointing me more than the super short extended cab. That is absolutely unacceptable how little leg room you have.
What backseat is better F-150 cab or Tundra crew max cab?
I think if it was me and I was going that large big back seat Tundra; I think I would just go for an F450 or maybe a 350 SD.

If you went with the hybrid it would look like the 2nd gen crew max under the backseat due to the batteries 😂. So there's that. Outside of aftermarket accessories, I'm so glad I bought a Titan Pro 4 x with (headrest tvs, heated and cooled front seats, heated rear, panoramic sunroof) for around 16k less than the comparable....ish Tundra with less options. Still wish I had a Tundra though, but the prices are out of control.
Single cab = Nostalgic (especially w/ bench seat and arm around girl). Extended cabs = good looks and function. Crew cabs = suv w/ smol bed.

What made you buy 24’ platinum without trd or? Seems like you’ll be using this truck for mostly haul and family trips? You definitely gonna love crew cab. Are you still going to keep 22’ limited?
Good question - I might have got one with the TRD OR, but none were available from local dealers for awhile, and I needed to get going on this truck build asap. It won't be my main trail truck, so the 4x4 and LSD should be enough for my needs, hopefully. I'm selling the 22 - can't justify two trucks so similar at this price point.
The 2nd Gen 07 to 13 has under seat storage I believe because they changed the back seat design in 14

Yes. I had one, and it was a bit tight since I an 6'3"... But the space is fine and the bed length great

I just got 24 crewmax trd sport sr5 it feels bigger inside then my 19 f150 xlt super crew and the sr5 rides better and has more options
2 for me. I could not find the one I wanted. So got the F150

The power is cool - I don’t like that it doesn’t really improve fuel efficiency, and it completely kills the massive amounts of rear storage (which is one of the things I love about the Tundra). So overall, nah i don’t like it at all.
You can find a 1st Gen for $3-$4k? Dude, someone just smashed mine & I can't find one in Phoenix under $6k to replace it. 😢

The turning radius on the latest Tundra sucks. Getting the previous Tundra is the way to go.
