From what I've seen from Josh & Olly is that they manage to avoid "awkward" situations when interviewing non-english speakers like these k-pop idols, which is rare considering the cringe interviews that these poor idols usually go through. Also, Josh and Olly are just the perfect match they seem to balance each other so much and it's so sweet.
i feel like a lot of the cringe in english kpop interviews comes from the interviewers not knowing much about kpop or korean culture, and not knowing how to phrase questions in a way that makes the most sense to non-native english speakers. josh and olly are clearly knowledgeable about kpop and the korean language/culture so i think that helps quite a bit, plus they just seem like cool easy going guys who genuinely want to connect with these idols and like you said they have a great dynamic
It helps that Josh is fluent in Korean and knows the culture as well as natives. He lived there for some time while in university and his wife is Korean. He's even been on a couple Korean shows.
12:44 "there's something about san" hahah there is indeed. he's a very loving person off stage and an insane performer on stage and when i say insane i mean that in every sense of the word, he's one of the best kpop performers i've seen and it's not even an exaggeration. what you said about wanting a reaction from san is also true, san is probably the biggest hype man of his members, he's always making everyone feel included and hyping them up whenever they have to do something.
also it's very impressive that both hongjoong and san aren't fluent in but they're still able to communicate in english without much help.
The thing with San is that he IS an introvert, he is shy, but you rarely see that with other Ateez members because he's confortable with them, but he gets a bit shy outside of his own bubble. It's very cute that you can see him getting a bit more confortable during the video as well.
Max, I highly recommend a very authentic interview ATEEZ did recently with PopBuzz. Yeosang, Mingi, and Jongho, who are often quiet, really show their true personalities likely because the questions were on Jenga pieces so they were playing the game to find the next question. No one was on "interview mode" so I think you'd really like it. (I think it was the same day because it was also in London and HJ & S are wearing the same clothes).
This vid was great. I would add that Hongjoong's body position also communicated his desire to interact with Josh and Ollie (I couldn't tell if Ollie was sitting that way for the same reason or because he didn't fit in the booth). Thanks for the great content. ❤
I was just going to recommend that same interview! I had no idea that they all can speak and understand English fairly well! I was really impressed! There's usually at least a member or two that have no idea what's going on in English interviews but to me it seemed like they all could follow along. I was really impressed!!

yea hongjoong in my humble opinion has the confident that help him in everything he does and i think that was one of many reasons why he is the leader of ateez when i watch their stuff hongjoong seem always knows what to do and he can handle any situation beside he has that emotional intelligence that help him with his members ... actually he inspired me sometimes because he is so young but still can handle and observe so many things and he knows when he acts as a leader and when he is just a member of a group of 8 plus his seance of humor is my fav 😂😂
Same. I really sensed him as my fav cyz he's got such control over his hand on handling things. And I really love his humor too. Idk if it's the scorpio in him but he's always ready to snap 💀
One of the things that makes me so impressed by hongjoong is his ability to be funny and witty in both korean and english even though he isn't completely fluent in english. I speak three languages fluently but i don't have that ability or confidence to really be out there with my sense of humour in all three, maybe 1,5 of the languages i speak lmao. It's very admirable

Yess I find that most of my humor in one language doesn't translate to the other (because I'm not fluent enough). And so, it's really impressive from Hongjoong
hongjoong has this ability where he compliment his members/staff in public too and you sense his sincerity what i have observed from their content is hongjoong's ability to help them grow by being encouraging without coming across as pushy. he would make a great mentor in my opinion
He's been a great mentor already to xikers.
Hongjoong is a good conversationalist because he's usually the spokesman for Ateez especially when it's English speaking interviews. He's more confident from having to speak all the time for the group. San is more outgoing when it's a Korean interview because that's his comfort zone. I feel San speaks English well but is not confident enough like Hongjoong is. But it seems like they both had fun and it's so cute watching them interact with the Josh & Olly.
Hongjoong’s immediate comfort level made complete sense to me once he said he watched Josh and Ollie’s videos ❤

I'm new to Josh and Olly, but I really like what I've seen of them so far. They seem really genuine and have a good dynamic. I can tell Hongjoong felt pretty comfortable in this situation and his humor peeking through with all those "new experience" comments were really funny! All in all this was a very wholesome experience and I'm glad you reacted to it :)

I'm always amazed of how accurate you are. The whole Woosan part was 100% accurate. Wooyoung himself have said this before that he likes teasing San coz San gives him reactions and he enjoys it. And San, yes he is an introvert, which is often surprising to most fans becoz of how chaotic he is when with the group but there are times when you can see his reserved introverted side you know.

Two of my favorite 'groups' in this video. Thanks for reacting to it. Josh learned Korean as a kid and Ollie just learned it a few years ago. He bravely practiced his Korean by interviewing famous Korean actors. He also does research on guests and then asks goofy questions using his knowledge of them. Guests love that.
Ateez is just one of those groups that make everyone feel closer to them. Fans, staff, show hosts. Many times they are so themselves they get too hyped and eventually make everyone laugh and have a good time. I guess it's a small company thing where they are not so pressured from the start and grow up keeping their very genuine personality, never faking who they are.
I think hongjoong made this interview much more fun with his funny jocks and his funny facial expression 😂😂 i think hongjoong is an excellent communicator and he can lead conversations very well even when he does not fully know the language but he is so smart to use the vocabulary he knows to make full conversations like this i think even if i don't know ateez well but i saw any of their content i will easily know that hongjoong is their leader
Hongjoong in such conditions really makes me realize how an leader no matter a I or E really handles things whether people or situation. He's got one of my fav humor as well 💀

I don't know how to describe hongjoong in words actually because he does so much as a human being in my opinion his character amazes me sometimes, i mean he knows his surroundings very well and no one has his confidence and his charisma i think ppl sometimes forget how hard to be a leader, especially with a group like ateez he is literally one or two years older than them but he like a father and a mentor to all of them like i always say hongjoong was born to be a leader he is one without even trying.
also he is an introverted as his MBTI says but he is a very social person and he can make conversations very easily as u said, and the words he said at the end he is so respectful and humble.
And he notices and observes everything some say he is a strict leader but i think he just knows when he needs to be that and when he needs to chill out and let things be
San is my favorite person in the world and the way you were talking about him had me kicking my feet🥹
Fun fact! You mentioned that San is an introvert, and he is! San and Hongjoong both are INFPs, like me! As a Hongjoong bias, that makes me very happy XD

I think this was a perfect pair combination, like Hongjoong's strength is vocabulary and San's strength is pronunciation.
Ik that San, Wooyoung and Hongjoong are undoubtedly very interesting people but can you also focus on the quieter members of ateez whenever the next reaction is? All the boys are so special, they all deserve attention 🫶 Seonghwa has a sweet heart that always thinks about others, Yeosang as well. Mingi and Jongho are most often misunderstood and Yunho needs love too😭
Idk why but when I saw that you reacted to this code I got so giddy inside. Like I love jolly so much and I love ateez so much and they’re dynamic was so cool to watch.
Very interesting looking at it from this pov. Im a long time follower of the Jolly channel and thats how I got to know about Ateez. They seemed super genuine and polite in the video, while also being really funny. So I looked them up and was hooked 🙈

O hongjoong ele é muito bom no inglês diferente do san que entende e fala o básico mais ainda assim consegue se sair bem por isso acho que ele estava bem mais quieto do que o normal ali pois com certeza ele não estava entendendo muito o que o hong e os outros diziam. Ambos tambem são bastante expressivos o hong não esconde muito bem quando não gosta de algo, ele ja é mais aberto sobre isso , ja o san tenta amenizar para que os demais não se sintam mal por ele não gostar de algo por isso ele é um dos mais amorosos e carinhosos entre os membros do ateez, tão fofo .

british food is just better than american. I mean i, myself am proud to be british bc british ppl are funny and when i watch british youtubers there hasnt been a single one who has been boring to me. British interviewers are also more polite and do more research when interviewing BTS for example, americans interview them but have no clue who the group even are or what they do. From what i've seen.
I’m always enjoying their interviews and Ollie’s jokes. But in this video his joke about mayonnaise sounded willfully, out of place. It looked a little bit cringey😅
