  • In this video I finish cleaning a few parts, set the float heights on all four carbs and bench set the throttle butterflies. Bench sync using guitar string as a 'standard' unit of measurement to achieve a similar throttle opening on each carb. This gets the bank in the ball park for synchronisation on the bike when we come to a point of being ready to fire it up.
    Air mixture screws set to: 2.5 turns out
    Float heights set to: 22.3mm

    The movie series is great and very helpful but I have a stupid question. which one is and what is roughly the diameter.
    Will you make a video of the regulation on the motorcycle ?

    • @ratmotors903
      @ratmotors903  Před 2 lety

      Hi! Thanks for watching! Yes, when I get the bike sorted I’ll be syncing on the bike as well. Sorry, diameter of which part?

      @@ratmotors903 That is, which guitar string it is. 10:32 Does it matter?

    • @ratmotors903
      @ratmotors903  Před 2 lety +1

      Oh yes! Sorry. The string is the high E, the thinnest string. I use 12 gauge strings on my guitar but that is not so much of a problem, it’s more important that it’s consistent across the bank so the gap is the same so whatever gauge string you can get will work.

      @@ratmotors903 Cool. Thank you very much. I am asking because for the first time I will disassemble and regulate this carburetor, so any way to make my work easier is very valuable to me

    hi, are you going to restore your motorcycle or are you going to make a scrambler?

    • @ratmotors903
      @ratmotors903  Před 2 lety

      Hi, thanks for watching! It’s going to be a scrambler, bike was a non-runner and in a bit of a state so not best candidate for a restoration. I’m restoring a 1972 CB450 and 1978 XS1100 at the moment as well. There’s some videos of the CB450 on my channel, I’ve the frame being powder coated at the moment. The XJ900 is waiting parts, I’m tackling the engine first.

      Hi! Thanks for watching. I will be, currently on a CB450 rebuild. You can see that on the channel too 👍
