In the early seasons l felt the people he interacts with are crazy but in the later season Larry is.

Fun fact: this whole show is improvised. Which makes it so much funnier because the actors reactions are real. The scripts were basically just laying out the plot and the rest was just improv feeding of each other.
Uh, there was a time before an internet filled with endless porn. You had to watch and rewatch the same tapes.
The "taking the shoes off in someone else's house" thing is very culture dependent. Here (Ireland) it could be seen as rude to ask someone to do it as the host. I've been in areas in southern England where I've been asked and it seemed very strange, and an imposition.
