I was 11 when this movie came out and my mother was 30. She snuck us in to a drive in movie theather by having us hide under the seats of her 1984 plymouth voyageur. I am now 36 and she has since passed away. Love you mom.

We did this as high schoolers when it was $10 carloads at the Starlight Drive-in here in Wichita. But we'd pack 4 in the trunk and 6 in the cab lol The place is still up and running though, need to go there one of these weekends.

That shark snatching up Sam Jackson was like, "You can seal off this pool if you want to, but I'm getting this food. I'M HUNGRY!"
With LL Cool J jabbing the hell out of the shark's eye with his cross, in the HIGHLY unlikely event that you ever find yourself attacked by a shark or a gator, that's actually a great method to get it to let go! 😂This movie is classic. I was always so happy LL Cool J lived to the end!
And he walked it off after deep femur wounds
I liked that they made him the chef. Anyone who's worked in a kitchen knows that you have to be able to adapt and think on your feet in a stressful situation, so it makes sense that he's better at surviving than the scientists.
He's also religious, so him using his cross to do exactly what he should have done also makes it seem like it was his faith coming through for him.
Then again, living and working in a shark research facility, it's also pretty likely that he'd had conversations before about what to do in case of a shark attack. (And any time someone repeatedly stabs someone or something with a crucifix I can't help but think of The Exorcist.)
My favorite shark movie, Ive watched it a billion times. So glad you reacted to it. It’s so underrated. It didn’t need a sequel but I lowkey wish we got one.

Saw this on my birthday. When Sam Jackson started his speech, all I could think was how funny it'd be if a shark suddenly ate him. When it happened, the entire theater screamed except for me. I was laughing so hard that I started wheezing and couldn't breathe for a minute. Best birthday present ever 😂

I saw this in the theater and when Sam Jackson got killed the audience was *SCREAMING!* One of my favorite movie memories.
This is one of those movies that changed at the last minute thanks to the test audiences. Originally, the doctor lady in charge was going to make it, but the test audience said no, it's all her fault, she's gotta go! So they had her get et by the shark at the end.

I actually hate that she didn’t make it, yea it was her fault, but cmon she had a noble cause, fck them sharks she ain’t do anything wrong, ya gotta crack a few eggs to make an omelette(an LL omelette lol), and ya gotta mess with a few sharks brains to cure Alzheimer’s I guess lol. Plus the way she thought to electrocute that shark was genius she did that like a boss and she was brave asf to use herself as bait in the end. She was dope she should’ve made it. She just should have listened to dude who was not underestimating the sharks who was more concerned about the fences and the safety and everything.
Can you imagine that’s how you go?! A shark or a croc or a gator or a tiger or a bear or something fckn eats you!!? Heck nah man!!! Rest in peace to the poor souls who died that way man smh unreal…

Under the guise of picking up something from my Grandparents, my family pulled up and I saw a bunch of cars. My grandparents used to have big cookouts, they were so much fun! I was mad because I was like are they having a cookout and didn’t tell us?! Turns out it was a surprise party for my 16th birthday. I cried😅

I remember starting this movie in the morning before school. I was in 6th grade. I was so into it, I said what school, and proceeded to watch the whole movie and not walk to school that day. 😂 #executivedecisions
I remember watching this on home video with my dad back in late-'99, early-'00. To this day, twenty-five years later, we STILL talk about the shock of SLJ's last scene.
Love how the shark looked at and recognized Susan, before killing her. It's like it was letting her know that what she did was messed up.
Also, the "you ate my bird" line always makes me smile and killing off Samuel L. Jackson's character right in the middle of his heroic, uplifting speech was a genius move by the filmmakers.

Fun fact: In the original ending of this movie, all 3 of the main characters survived at the end, including the female science lady Susan. But when they did the test screenings for the film, the audience did not like that ending at all. They did NOT want her to live. So they re-shot the ending to have her character killed off at the very end. It’s kinda understandable since her character was the one who caused all this, so it’s kinda fitting that she ends up dying too lol

Damn bro, I haven't seen this movie in at least 15 years. When I was a kid, we had like a dozen VHS tapes, and this was one of them. You either watch one of those, or see what's on the three grainy channels we could pick up 😂 we wore this mother OUT. It still holds up!

If youve seen the Dave Chappell skit " Samuel Jackson Beer" he talks about this movie. In the skit Dave says, " He ate me. A fucking shark ate me!!" It was sooo funny at the time because this was an amazing movie.
