The king told here before she left that she would only find darkness in the Southlands -- that happened.
I believe that when the building collapse on Isildur The floor gave away and he fell into one of the Ork holes that’s how he survive
Pats so confident in his wrong predictions it’s something I need to aspire to
I LOVE Pat!!! he makes every react so much more entertaining
normies specialize on taking 10 minutes before each episode to comment just to make sure they are proved wrong later and forget a dude fell from the sky, elves, and more, but still question how could they breathe. how could a person survive falling from the sky? its a show marketa!!
Theo is not his child…They just shared their first kiss a couple of episodes ago.
Bronwyn and Arondir did, to clarify 😅
I don't know... They strongly suggested there is history between Arondir and Bronwyn from the start
one thing most reactors always do is question logic like how can they breathe after 6 episodes of watching a show and movies with magic, never comment on anything but wait.. those 300 YO elves and magic are ok but a human surviving smoke? there is no way
I don't want the creepy trio to talk at all. I want them to just be creepy, do evil things and not say a word 🤣🤣
Well they already are talking to Sauron apparently in the next episode
Sauron hasn’t even created the ring and been defeated yet, so we won’t be seeing an eye of Sauron
True also the other rings weren't given or made yet hear the director said 5 seasons?plus probably shows when gollum finds ring and more back story it's gonna be a fun series can't wait!
Good point.
The "eye" of Sauron is just a Peter Jackson invention
And we shall not see Sauron regardless.
@@NovRen19 The show is called the rings of power, we’re going to see Sauron 😆
If you're wondering about Theo you can see his ear when he arrives outside the camp with Galadriel.. The wind blows his hair back. Around the 51 minute mark.
Khazad-dum is the old Dwarven name for what later becomes the Mines of Moria.
So if you've seen the movies... you KNOW what happens to Khazad-dum....
They have reactions to the movies...
All the people with plot armor survived the volcano explosion
Halbrand was about to die but then he decided he won't.
while the buildings and animals burned Pompeii thought us nothing at all lol
@@ShantalhaitianPrincess Dr who showed us that without plot armor you die in Pompeii
If the writers of this show are a little competent. At the very least, they could make the characters have burned skin and hair.
Guys you know Arondir and Bronwyn literally kissed for the first time like 2 episodes ago
I quite like how the Durin/Elrond plot line changes our perspective on the Moria in the main trilogy. We know that the dwarves will dig too deep and reach the Balrog, but while it was always assumed that they dug out of greed, we now know that it was originally out love and selflessness. They might have gone too greedy and ambitious with time, but it all started because Durin and Elrond just loved each other so much. It adds another layer to the tragedy of their downfall, I really like it!
I did t think about that but that makes a lot of sense and is very sad
i haven't read Silmarillion but as far as i was aware the Eye didn't come to pass until the third age after Sauron was separated from his ring
but his Sigil was Always a Red Eye on Black Ground.....
Yep, the eye as a symbol for Sauron was not present during the second age.
And, just for clarity, it wasn't some neon-electric absurdity at the top of a tower staring down Middle Earth. God save us from Peter Jackson's trash takes.
@@mechtime well a metal dome with a window frame in it and nothing was not cool enough...i like the peter jackson version more tbh
and im shoked how toxic the Tolkien Fanbase is....my GOd christopher trained you right.....
tolkien foundation is a big arse if you want to do propper middle earth stuff...and im not surprised be reading people here
@@derfritz4550 yep thats true but she was referring to the tower with the flaming eye on top
You can see Theo's ears in the scene when he almost gets his arm chopped off by an Orc. (His "Dad," Arondir, saves him.) The ears look human to me.
Concerning Tolkien's lore for Half Elves. They were given the choice to live the mortal life of Men or as Elves, Elros, Elrond's brother, chose to live as a man and became the first King of Numenor. Elrond chose to live as an Elf.
I was worried the show was rushing things but they have kinda reset the timeline now, I'm not sure how they are going to handle the finale but I'm looking forward to it.
what about Arondir's kid? 👀
@@davidnobre5660 Bruv, he ain’t got a kid.
Only Eärendil's and Elrond's children had the choice. Everyone else is mortal.
@@davidnobre5660 Nobody knows whether or not he's a Half-elf. And since the show isn't going by Tolkien's lore, anything can happen.
@@Lothiril I think mostly they are only going off of Tolkiens lore. But Tolkien had a lot of contradictory stuff. For instance it was said in his notes that Gandalf may have been to Middle earth prior to the third age just not as he was when he went there. And the Orks being corrupted elves, is one of like 4-5 different origins he wrote. So even in the book some stuff is unclear.
LOL Navi is so right Arondir and Bronwyn were all "a fresh start when this is all over" like well DEATH FLAGS! Also like poor Ontamo (Isildur's friend) whose fiancee was bragging how proud her father was going to be of his future son in law. I was like awww...that's a shame...🤣🤣
27:50 "Is this the same volcano they took the ring to?" Oh no it's actually another volcano that is also in Mordor called Mount Disaster :^)
😂😂😂
Dude its called mount doom not mount disaster 😐
@@kyleward1834 Read my comment again. Very slowly. Maybe you will get it
@@DudemitnemHut I'm not sure its my reading thats the problem friend... I mean even the word volcano is spelt wrong
@@kyleward1834 Well yeah that's true. But in my language it's spelled with an U so happens🤷♂️ But you obviously just didn't get my joke/sarcasm. Pointing out my grammar doesn't change that
The shockwave from a volcanic explosion like the one shown in the episode has a temperature between 1500-1800 degrees F. Anyone caught in the blast would have their flesh burned off their bodies. But, this is TV. :)
in Game of Thrones they would be dead lol
A pyroclastic flow can be incredibly deadly, yes, but it also loses force and heat as it travels. If they were far enough away, it could still be extremely dangerous but survivable.
@@cervanntes true but the village didnt look that far away and the flow set buildings and animals on fire I still like the show but somethings could have been written better
@@cervanntes While essentially true, minimum safe distance would be beyond where the town was set.
@@anthonyshaddox7594 As far as I know, pyroclastic flows seldom go farther than 10 miles (if that) unless they are in the "supervolcano" league or possibly side-blasts like what happened at St. Helens. Even then, not sure how hot they are at the end of their run. The real question is how far away the village was from the eruption.
.....you cannot expect me to believe that an elf of Galadriel's caliber can take a volcano blast right to the face with no injuries but can't hold her own against half trained mortals. You can't have it both ways
Sometimes when I see Durin and Elrond interacting my eyes get a little bit teary because I have been treating anxiety and depression and, maybe not so surprisingly, some "friends", people that I expected to be more warmful simply ghosted me, if that' s the correct word. I don't know what to make of it (them) right now but I'll figure something out within proper time.
Well, another nice episode! In fact I'm enjoying the series a lot, along with She-Hulk!
get a journal and write how you feel don't keep it all inside
Yes. That is Orodruin. Also called Mount Doom in the common tongue. Where Sauron would eventually forge the One Ring. One Ring to rule them ALL! The Balrog is the same race as Sauron. They were Maiar who became evil. They worshipped Melkor, aka as Morgoth in the first age. Sauron was like Morgoth's right hand man. He was his best pupil. So, our big bad of this series is only the second worst entity in Tolkien's universe. Morgoth was the literal worst.
You could argue Ungoliant is worse as she nearly consumed Morgoth.
The big bad of this series is galadriel 🙄
They mentioned Theo's dad having been gone for a long time. Arondir is not his daddy... although he is someone's "daddy" if you know what I mean. ;-)
So... are we getting the finale reaction?
Interesting note, A Balrog is actually a corrupted version of the same type of being that Gandalf is. Essentially primordial spirits that were corrupted by Morgoth.
Maia right?
@@MoviesAndTvShowsAreSubjective yep
@@MoviesAndTvShowsAreSubjective yes, a Maia in the singular and Maiar is the plural, though there were different types of Maiar. The balrogs were all spirits of fire that Melkor corrupted. Another Maia of the same kind that he failed to corrupt, named Arien, ended up being tasked to guide one of the two trees (Telperion's, the golden one) fruit in the sky, as the creation of the Sun, after the trees died, such was her resplendor that even the elves couldn't stand to look directly to her (that's why Tolkien's Sun is female), Tilion was the Maia that guided the moon (Laurelin's last flower), he kind of couldn't help crushing on her and trying to get too close though and when he did (eclipses hehe) his vessel would get singed by Arien's heat. Incredible strong spirits the Maiar.
King Durin was referring to the Valar, the gods of Middle Earth, when he was speaking about wiser minds devising the elves fate.
I've never understood thinking Arondir was Theo's father haha. They mentioned his dad running off very briefly early days, also it felt quite clear to me that although Bronwyn and Arondir clearly felt something for each other they hadn't quite taken the leap yet into any kind of relationship. Also not sure he'd have grown so much in 14 years if he was part elf but I don't know enough about those things hahah.
Arondir is Theo's father because...the script says so and the plot demands it, you know, cheap shock factor and what not. Yes, the show is that predictable.
@@Alexszander dunno what show you're watching but they've not said it at any point so far.
@@JeM130177 no worries, they will. I'm predicting the future now ( not really, just read the script/summary).
@@Alexszander well I'm not sure you can insult a show for being predictable if you're out there reading the leaks. Have noticed a few people not enjoying the show seem to have read all that stuff. I've enjoyed the surprises.
@@JeM130177 sure, that makes a lot of sense. Have a good day!
32:23 What we see in the tree "is but an outer manifestation of an inner reality"
putting the mithril next to the tree would only hide the problem temporarily
This, I have been discussing this everywhere online. I think even if it "works" it's still smoke and mirrors. Even the corruption seems to be done on purpose by Annatar, imho.
@@Jehphg yeah, they need to use the Mithril actively
the creepiest music plays every time they're on screen and they look like unholy wraiths but "We don't know if they're bad." lol
I'm so happy Marketa remind;ed us of the island king telling his daughter not to go, because I totally forgot and did not think about that at all when watching this episode until Marketa said that. Then I was all, "WHOA! He didn't jus say it would be bad for her. I'm pretty sure he said there would be only darkness. Since she's blind now, he meant literally for her.
There could be no fire if there was no oxygen, people.
I wish we could see how Elrond, Durin, become friends. 😏
Marketa I'm glad I'm not the only one that loves the Balrog.
halbrand is sauron
Arondir's fade does stay on point. Elvish magic.
Balrog is a title, it's name is Durins bane. The leader of the balrogs was called Gothmog.
Always enjoy your reactions. Navi...your ears look natural.
I had to pause and laugh for a while after Marketa said "Yes!!!" about the Balrog : )
10:49 that's a chromed chicken leg 🤣
Maybe the crazy wizard group burned all the hobbits wagons because they sensed the magic food produced by the stranger. If they were really upset, they could have just burned everyone. I think they might just be hunting the magic so they can control it because they actually know who that is and they don't want other strong people to find him.
That had 2 purposes, cruelty for cruelty's sake, but also treating them badly so they could become bait for them to use them to find/when they find the wizard
SO if you recall Galadriel's narration in the beginning of the LOTR:FotR, there was 3,000 years between Isidul getting jumped and Smeagol finding the ring. And Smeagol was something like 500 or 600 years old I think? So I don't imagine we're going to see the Eye of Sauron in this series. At least, not how we know it in LOTR.
I vaguely remember the movies but isn't Isildur supposed to be a man? Human I mean. How is he still alive in the movies? Unless he only appeared in flashbacks.
@@JordiVanderwaal He is. Clearly he's still alive. Canonically, he cuts the ring off of Sauron's hand and he and Elrond are inside Mt Doom with Elrond telling him to throw the ring, but he keeps it. So Isildur is alive.
@@SaraTiggs but I mean I thought this show was supposed to happen hundreds of years before the movies, I don't get how he's there (in the show) already, being human and all. I must have misread maybe.
@@JordiVanderwaal When the Hobbits reach Rivendell and meet up with Gandalf, Elrond speaks to him "I was there, Gandalf. Three thousand years ago." and it cuts to Elrond shouting at Isildur. It's a meme.
@@SaraTiggs thanks for confusing me even more. 🤣 I'll do my research when I have time and look some characters' chronologies.
The Balrog didn't come into existence because of a leaf!! It was already there laying dormant until the dwarves dug too deep and too greedily. Im not seeing any greed here!! Also i think Kazadum is still around until after the Hobbit trilogy, Balin was the last known king
Balin tried to recolonize it but the balrog didn’t go back to bed and the orcs were still there so it didn’t go very well
Well you're sorta half-right. You see, after Khazad-dúm fell because of the awakening of the balrog, Durin was killed by it, hence its name, "Durin's Bane"; and the place was overrun by goblins, not to mention the fights that happened later on. Years later Balin, the same Balin we know from the Hobbit, has - with a small group - tried to reclaim Moria. While he did have some beginner success, ultimately he failed, and was killed by an arrow to the chest (his tomb is where Gimli cries in Fellowship). One other notable dwarf, Oin (also part of the Bilbo Dwarf company) and a few other dwarves tried to escape through the west gate, but the water level was high, and the Watcher in the water killed them.
They thought that?! Hahaha.
I’m seeing some greed from Disa.
He is with Celeborn down there right? hiding from commander wifey.
Are you guys gonna do a react video for Werewolf by Night?
Hah! Like number 500 goes to me! lol. Loved ya'll reaction friends!
18:52 I'm pretty sure they are Avari.
The Balrogs were Morgoth’s personal bodyguard and his best fighters aside from the dragons. They are supposed to be ancient spirits of fire that existed before their world existed nd are related to all the other spirits like Sauron and Gandalf. The one in Khazad-Dum was not being held by the mithril, it was hiding there after Morgoth’s defeat and the dwarves barged into it’s hiding place and well its species is not known for effective anger management.
I love Marketa!!
"i don't know what happen" yeah you do you just don't remember...
@3:38 that is actually not true, not a lot of people died in the original trilogy. If you remember, from the fellowship only Boromir died. The hobbits had quite a bit plot armor
Guys I'm going to reveal to you now that it wasn't the Mithril itself that turned the malorn leaf back to normal. That's a deceivement made by the production, for metal itself doesn't possess that kind of power. It was the everlasting bond of friendship and care between an elf and a dwarve, that imprinted on the Mithril, made it purify the leaf. You can say that Mithril has special properties that allow it to absorb whichever will make it stronger, even emotions. I think that's what the production is trying aim in here.
You're welcome 😉
I think Theo is unrelated to Arondir, but it might be worth mentioning that Men of the East (Haradrim and Easterlings) have been described as darker skinned men.
Good one!
32:54 Michael Scott approves
12:20 "she's a good person" riiiight. Her whole character up to this point has been using and manipulating others to satisfy her revenge arc. I love how she tells Theo that it darkens the heart to call bad deeds good. After she reveals her hatred towards an entire race
She recognised that she was going too far after Adar told her that she was turning into the kind of evil she was hunting. In this episode Galadriel realises her mission has made her cold. It's called character development
That is called character development my guy
How did you not notice the eye shaped smoke coming out of the mountain
Great as always! Keep the name graphic!
Yoooo this show wass tooooottally good i loooooved it 😂😂😂🙃
29:00 The Balrog are Maiar corrupted by Morgoth. Only one Balrog was known to survive the fall of Morgoth. But at this point in time while the people of Middle-Earth might be aware that at least one Balrog is still around, no one would know where it's holed up. Durin III fears the collapse of the mountain. Whereas he is correct to not pursue this mining effort, it is for a different reason that he's unaware of. Durin IV is trying to do the right thing in the here and now, instead. I would argue both are correct, but Durin IV is correct for better reasons; things he can see and judge rather than only assume. Although.. it will lead to the fall of Khazad-dûm.
You seem to be misremembering a few things. Tar Palantir, Míriel's grandfather, said she'd find 'darkness' if she went to Middle Earth, so it turns out that he foresaw her going blind, not her death.
It is not forbidden among elves to be with others, it just rarely ended well. Beren and Lúthien (Lúthien herself was half-Elf, but the other half was Maia, like Gandalf) were the first and most famous human/elf couple and both tragically died (though they did reincarnate and lived as mortals), incidentally, they were Elrond's great grandparents. Technically speaking, Half-elves are not often 50/50, Elrond's bloodline is man, Maia, and Teleri Elf (well, one Teleri and one Sindar, which is an offshoot of Teleri) on his father's side and man, Noldor Elf, and Vanyar Elf on his mother's side, Elrond is mainly known as half-elven because his parents were not wholly elves, his mother Elwing was around 60/40 Elven while his father Earendil was 50/50, overall 'close enough'.
The Half Elves got the choice to be counted among Elves or Men after Morgoth's defeat by the Valar Manwe; Elrond's brother Elros was the only one who chose to be seen as Man and granted the Gift of Men (death) rather than seen as an Elf and granted passage to the Undying Lands, he became the first King of Númenor and thus ancestor of Aragorn, he died at 500.
Apple Sausage does exist, it's mainly apple pieces inside the sausage, I was never quite fond of it myself.
The Balrog is not likely the same as the one in the story, if it's the story of Glorfindel and the Balrog they did both fall together but the Balrog 'died' (Balrogs are Maia so they can't necessarily die like mortals). This Balrog is possibly Durin's Bane, the one Gandalf fights in Moria, though it is awake rather early by lore standards. The Mithril does not keep the Balrog trapped, the Balrog has simply gone into hibernation and hiding after Morgoth's defeat. Khazad-Dum lives longer than this age, since Gimli felt that Moria would be vibrant with Dwarves still alive in the Third Age, and this is the Second Age. Mithril as well never caused a rift between Dwarves and Elves, their conflict goes much further back.
At least in Tolkein's lore, Gandalf is never 'meant to be evil', the Five 'Wizards' were sent to help Middle Earth deter Sauron's rise to power; Saruman the White led the White Council where he offered his wisdom to the Last Alliance, Gandalf the Grey - who initially didn't want to go because he was afraid of Sauron - aided the Free People directly and indirectly often by bringing joy and raising courage and spirit, Radagast the Brown took care of the plant and animal life, and both Morinehtar and Rómestámo the Blue attempted to convince the inhabitants of the East to not side with Sauron. The Valar specifically told the wizards that if they tried to dominate Middle Earth or grow their individual power to match Sauron's power, their strength would fade, which is why when Saruman turned and Gandalf 'died', the Valar appointed him the new White Wizard, tasked with the purpose Saruman had forsaken and more powerful than him.
Mithril does get used to make at least one of the rings, but not the One Ring. The One Ring is like Sauron's horcrux, which is why it has a corrupting influence, he also corrupted most of the other rings so he could enslave and corrupt the bearers, like he does to the Nine Kings that become Ringwraiths.
Navi with elf ears is the thing I didn't know I needed
Also to clarify, ACTUAL people survived Mt St Helens soo Im guessing fictional folks could survive a cataclysm like this.

One must simply give a new name to the Orcs' habitat.
The Stranger = Radagast The Brown.
Radagast does not arrive in Middle Earth until year 1000 in the 3rd age. I believe it's either Allatar or Pallando.

All the wizards don’t come until the Third Age but I’m starting to wonder if the stranger is a wizard. Everyone says Gandalf but Radagast is an interesting theory.
Sauron's plan is solid, injure himself so Galadriel takes him to the elves, make sure the elves take the mithril, he forges the ring that controls all the rings. I'm sure Halbrand is Sauron

The thing about the backlash against the show is a bit complicated, but it basically boils down to this:
Thare are people who absolutely cannot remove themselves to previously settled canon (either movies or the books themselves)--the "gatekeepers", basically. Anything remotely contradictory to the original story(s) will hate this show. The thing is, if we just had the same story, it'd get boring real fast--we already know the story.
Then there are the trolls, who talk/type trash while knowing nothing of the actual story.
As someone who did read the books, I can say that I actually do like the show because I can appreciate it for what it is: another adaption of an already told story.
Love this channel but marketa the only one that was killing it y’all laughing for the wrong facts but y’all cool

That Southlands to Mordor transition was godly cheap and bad, I'm sure there is a sign there saying Mordor Population - 200 or something.
47:36 To understand this question requires knowledge of what happened in the First Age, back when Morgoth was the one evil master and Sauron was only one of many of his lieutenants.
Galadriel's people--the Noldorin Elves--basically invaded Middle-earth to wage war and colonize. Their conflict with Morgoth was not sanctioned by the "gods", and so the Noldor were basically doomed to waste away in Middle-earth, win or lose.
The Mythril must contain the soul of the elf who sealed Balrog.
The implication seems be it contains the light of one of the lost silmarils which created the light we saw in that glowy tree in episode one. Judging from the legend that Elrond told.
@@JeM130177 did they say the word silmaril?
@@ayoCC yes. Elrond told the story and said the legend was that..i think the tree the elf and the balrog were fighting over may have contained one. Not 100% sure of the details but I'm sure he said something about lost silmarils. Though tbf now I think about it they did say the mithril was a combination of the elf's goodness' pure heart/soul and the balrog's evil's strength and endurance so you're not wrong. That may just be part of the legend of why they were fighting but not of the creation of the ore. Think Frodo would have had an easier time if it dispelled evil. Though it was taken when he got to mordor. I'm not sure mithril canonically has that power at least.
@@JeM130177 From what it sounds like.... all the sources that let allow elves to live are some sort of creation with the essence of an immortal being. Some immortal thing created those trees, then an elf made the Silmaril gems, and i feel like mithril would be the same since it has the entire essence of an immortal elf. And the rings were also able to preserve with the immortal soul of sauron.
This show is quickly revealing there is neither Tolkien nor Rings in it, "Auta i lóme" and " Aurë entuluva," have you fallen to rings of power? With the showrunner's now declaring in their most recent article that phans who oppose the show are evil, despite what these remaining episodes bring, is now redundant, for their arrogance is forged in ROP. We invite all to discover our "Exsurge Tolkien" and have a counter perspective to ROP and discover how it is full of heresy and hubris. The heresy of hubris is the most damning, for it is the single vice that binds all the persons developing The Rings of Power to the supremacy of a will that is Anti-Tolkien, ironically leading the very destruction of the beloved treasure the "Theyocracy" of the machine claims to cherish. The showrunner's design for ROP aligns with the mortal sin that fundamentally changes the craft of Professor Tolkien's Canon and the spectacular secondary world, as Melkor enslaved, corrupted, and broke the firstborn children of Iluvatar, the elves.
