So... I discovered Subclasses

- Team Fortress 2 has an entire world of subclasses that I just discovered today. Here is my experience/guide on 5 of them, Demoknight, Fat Scout, Huntsman, Battle Medic, and Trolldier. Each subclass is honestly so much fun to play, and I hope this video explains why. I'll always still hate the TF2 bots though.

Team Fortress 2 is a 2007 multiplayer first-person shooter game developed and published by Valve Corporation. It is the sequel to the 1996 Team Fortress mod for Quake and its 1999 remake, Team Fortress Classic - Hry
You deal 195 damage with troldier if you hit them with the shovel instead of gomba stomping. Also that's technically not trolldiring but I am not great at it so it's not really my place to say it's wrong.
i learned this shortly after posting this video and i can’t believe i missed that lmfao, definitely have to do an update on that next TF2 vid
@@kel_ski sound smith has some trolldier tutorials, I don’t know if you have talked about them in the video because I haven’t watched it yet but I’d recommend them :D
You can literally one shot medics, scouts , spy’s , and engineers . If u hit a market garden. Also if u wanna see a DEEP ICBERG level subclass , google blindpyro on CZcams
@@kel_ski no offence but how the fuck did you know of trolldier's existence before knowing that was a thing
@@kel_ski need to hold ctrl when you're in the air so when you almost about to land on the enemy you can use your mighty shovel and the shovel give them a huge amount of crit that can kill them in one shoot, well not for the heavy tho.....but still
it's good to use it on scout's,snipers, spies, demo etc but nor for heavy and soldier.
was so confused when he tried goomba stomping everyone instead of hitting gardens 😂😂

Fun fact about demoknight, using a movement quirk in the source engine if you turn while mid air you gain stupid amounts of speed which if you hit a ramp while gaining said speed you can FLY, Solarlights gameplay is a good example of this mechanic called trimping
Yeah, he NEEDS to see Solarlight’s stuff. It’ll blow his mind.
i must watch this Solarlights man 👀 sounds like fub
@@kel_ski You have watch him
@@kel_ski have you been enlightened yet?
@@kel_ski have you seen the Heavenly god of all Demoknight mains?

I fully respect u sir!
gotta keep those snipers in check 🤝
@@kel_ski great to learn so you increase survivability in case your team has no thumbs and can't utilize 50% extra health lol
Maybe try Battle Engie later. The Gunslinger's mini sentries let you be a lot more aggressive and mobile with your sentries. You can then run around with anything like the frontier justice blasting faces and you've got a bit of durability to brawl. Great for maps that require you to move about more.
i’ll have to give this one a try! thank you 🤝
@@kel_ski Battle Engie is also effective with the Jag or Eureka Effect, ye ol' Uncle Dane made an hour or so long video all about the battle engie playstyle, also the Widowmaker is a very good choice bc shotgun, but infinite clip if you hit shots and no damage fall off.
Battle engi is more of a mind set than a actual weapon load out, being just a whole lot more aggressive just like a scout but with damage from 2 sources and slower.

As a demo knight main, I love to see how much you enjoyed him. How much did you learn about Trimping?
stop torturing this guy lol
i only discovered the term from my discord after i posted this, i must look into it…
@@kel_ski Its possibly the most important aspect of Demoknight, you can get across the entire map in a few seconds. You just need to approach a slanted surface, jump, and charge into the slant. I recommend using the Tide Turner for more mobility while trimping
@@kel_ski you really gotta look at some solarlight videoes... the guy is probably the best demoknight in the game. Also if you see the unprompted no context"demoknight tf2" somewhere, its because of him
@@kel_ski trimping makes the dopamine go BRRRRRRR
Your edit of the intro from Flashgitz was 10/10. Quite literally anyone that played OW and then got the grip on playing TF2 will very likely do this.
i still play overwatch from time to time, but this game man… got the death grip
a bit surprised battle medic didn't use the blutsauger. the crossbow seems to do the role in a similar way, instead of healing yourself on hit, you can still heal people with the crossbow.
i realized this after, i just saw in a guide somewhere had the crossbow listed, so i used that. i’ll have to try that gun though!
@@kel_ski also remember to use sollem vow which allows you to see enemy health or amputator to counterbalance the blutsaugers downside
@@kel_skiI'm late, but the crossbow is the best primary. Burst healing op
My god... I was expecting something else then community servers this time... But this?! Amazing.

demoknight has his own version of rocket jumping, trimping. you can go pretty much from start to finish on pl upward on a single charge
that sound so sick, im sure people have gotten some nutty kills with that tech
@@kel_ski it is so hard to master tho you cannot imagine
@@kel_ski solarlight did tons of those and its really scary if you see a demoknight casually flying at you like missile
@@arnaudvbg2716 basic trimping is pretty easy though, just charge into a slope and turn haha
@@arnaudvbg2716
It's pretty easy; it's just hard to explain. So, you need to go on maps yourself and try it out to see if it clicks.
I'll try to explain briefly:
Slopes:
There are three types of slopes. The steeper the slope, the easier it is to Trimp. Slopes like stairs are the ones I find most easy to control.
Slope 1: These slopes are at about a 20° angle; they aren't very steep. Keep in mind, the steeper the slope, the easier it is to Trimp. Some common examples of slopes like these are the ramps you see in payload maps or short stairs.
Slope 2: The slopes are steeper, at around 30-40° angles. These are the ones with the most control. For example, the roof of the 2fort bridge. You can load up the map and practice Trimping on it. Keep these console commands handy: "sv_cheats 1" and [bind mouse2 "+attack2; impulse 101"]. What this basically does is replenish your ammo, charge, health, and everything when you hit mouse 2. These slopes are where you need to do all the turning.
Slope 3: The slopes are the most steep, almost 90°, like cliffs and stuff. Here, no turning is required. You just need to charge jump (press charge and jump at the same time) close to the wall.
How to Actually Do It:
For Slope 1: You need to already be in the air or have already Trimped off of a surface beforehand. As you hit the slope, you have to turn so you maintain the momentum and fly off with much more speed. (Not Recommended for Newbies) bassikally the steeper the slope the less mommentum you need to trimp
*For Slope 2*: Here is where the fun begins. What you need to keep in mind is that all you have to do is make a 180-degree turn when trimpping.
So when jumping, look at a 90-degree angle opposite the direction of the slope you are jumping on. Start your charge and slowly and gradually start turning until when you hit the slope, you should have made a 90-degree turn. After that, you still need to keep turning while you fly, making another 90 degrees, making a total of 180 degrees.
If you did everything fine, you will fly to heaven(In the source engine, when you jump and happen to land on a slope, the game typically applies its friction logic to decrease your speed. However, when you're turning, the game starts increasing your speed instead).
Once you've learned how to do this consistently, you can charge cancel by hitting your sword, then you can air strafe to get to your desired location.
For Slope 3: Just jump and charge; you will glide through the air. Don't make any turns because it could cancel your charge.
I am new to Trimping too, so the stuff I say is probably wrong but works for me.
Hats off to you for trying jump maps, rocket jumping as soldier is one of the easiest skills to "learn" in Tf2. But also singlehandedly the hardest to master.
i can see the insane potential it has! makes me want to get better
Always enjoy seeing new people get into this game and its wild selection of subclasses. Also nice seeing this game still going strong despite the lack of meaningful content.
the fact the game is going this strong still is a testament to its design

Little tip for Trolldier:
If you hold crouch while you're in the air, it takes longer to hit the ground or something, so when you're above a player you should hold crouch and then hit them with your Market Gardener.
It also gives you a bit more control when attempting to turn
Another tip: when market garden is equipped you have a 100% chance to bottom score and be a useless teammate
it also moves you more when rocket jumping or stickybomb jumping
@@bubblesthetalkingdog6590 Hell yeah! It *is* pretty fun.

I think one of the best melee weapons for fat scout are the boxing gloves of killing, the ones that gives you like 5 seconds of crits if you kill someone with them
that sounds amazing
@@kel_ski yeah, you should try it out :D

After melee kill destroying couple other guys out of your reach with a shotgun is so satisfying...
You are one with the TF2 community now, do not resist.

it’s so janky but i love it lmaoo
For battle medic, use an ubersaw instead because every hit gives you some ubercharge so you can get free invincibility when you want to rush in or get out to rejuvenate.
holy crap that’s amazing
5:36 wait till you try any other class ever
I love playing fatscout unironically, even in tf2 classic on custom weapon servers (a fanmade mod for tf2) they gave him unlocks that flesh him out as a viable sub-class!
honestly running around shotgunning people with the comfort of 300 HP is great fun
@@kel_ski yeah, and the best part is, like a battle medic, people underestimate you until it's too late, thus pumping em full of russian lead before they realize what the hell just happened.
Here is a tip for demoknight: with the charg'n targe or splendid screen, you can enable mouse filter to turn ridiculously more left and right, but it may mess with your aim alot
Havent seen you in a minute and just saw this in my recommended, cool to see how much you've improved!
I will now proceed to binge watch the rest of the videos i missed out on
welcome back 🤝 i’ve still been loving this game for sure lol, it’s been a blast learning more about it. enjoy the binge!
Fun fact you might not know: Eyelander Heads boost your stats, you get more speed and more health, cap is at 4 heads but the boost is why it's so good, you're almost as fast as a scout and get I think 50 more health
Also check out Horseless Headless Horesman's Heattaker, a reskin of Eyelander but looks ABSO-FUCKIN-LUTELY dope and sounds amazing too
thank you for the tips and suggestions!
So, from the gameplay of the demoknight, I don't think you discovered this, but if you swing your sword near the end of your charge (when the charge bar in the bottom left is red), then you'll get an automatic critical hit. The only one that doesn't work like that is the Tide-Turner, as it gives a lot more maneuverability
0:45 why is that so true tho? lol
Because the jokes are funny.
Kelski search up Demoknight trimping montage there should be a video by solarlight its insane

fire video. just poppin in to say that the trolldier isnt about stomping players but about heating them with the spesific shovel (the market gardener) which does 195 damage to enemys while youre still in the air... anyways fire content keep it up my guy :)

Watching TF2 through the eyes of a brand new player is so refreshing, I'm legitimately jealous you get to fall in love with this game the way I did many years ago. There's so much to experience still, glad it's treating you right.

Theres a gamemode called medieval mode where everyone just uses melee weapons and a few other specific weapons, one of my favorite ways to play it is as Heavy with the Buffalo Steak Sandwich and also the Killing Gloves of Boxing. Each kill you get gives you 5 seconds of guaranteed crits so you can go on a rampage as long as you keep getting kills.
You really should try other swords with demoknight, probably one of the most versatile class in tf2 also battle medic isn't complete without uber saw
i’ll have to give them a try!
Here’s a tip for trolldier, don’t land on top of people, land next to them so you have a wider margin of error to wack them with the market gardener while still in the air so you can get a solid 195 crit with it. Going for stomps is fun, but the heart of the subclass is in the funny shovel.
Ok here's another tip, when you play this sub class your a useless teammate and get killed easly also lowers your chance to get a gf

I'm not sure whether to call it an alternative playstyle for the subclass or a subclass of its own, but rocket jumper while focusing all your damage on the stock shotgun gives you a lot of the meat of fat scout while keeping most of the mobility
so you fly around shotgunning people mid air?
@@kel_ski Or using it to get right in their face like a scout would, both work
That example with the cousin, where no matter how much time has passed. You still just vibe when you see them, a couple of days each year.
I feel the exact same.
PLEASE try out the tide turner and trimping, its great
try out the blutsauger with combat medic sometime, it’s a shockingly good combat weapon! i see other people mentioned this too, but i’d heavily advise. just reading the stats doesn’t emphasize how good it is. i used to have one with thousands of kills back in like 2016 lol
YES ANOTHER TF2 video

You're very funny and your editing is great. Your videos have got me to play TF2 for the first time so thanks lol
As a combat medic, i recommend the Ubersaw for survivability, you gain 25% ubercharge on hit
thank you for the recommendation!
If you are using the crossbow to snipe, the solemn vow might be a better option so you ca see the enemies health. Ubersaw seems like a better choice for normal medic game play or using a different ranged option.
@@EmperorNefarious1 I normally pair it with the kritzkrieg for more damage output or the normal uber to get out of a sticky situation, as im pretty aggressive and up-close meaning i often end up using my melee enough to have an ubercharge when i need it
With fat scout, you should give The Family Business a try in combo with The Killing Gloves of Boxing. Sometimes hard to setup but when you get it you're in for a lot of potential damage and kills with those free yummy crits
There's also some pyro gimicks I'd love to see you give a shot. As well as some specific map gimicks! There's so many fun things to do in this game, I'd love to show you them lol
This ain't gonna be a variety channel, this is just the beginning of Kel's TF2 channel.
LOL
It's always so refreshing to see new players further diving into the deeper mechanics that this game has to offer and I hope you enjoy your stay in this long running silly hat simulator game.
Also you were playing trolldier in the way that it was intended its not wrong tho, the sub class revolves around the market gardener, landing crits while airborne from rocket jumping, still love the video tho.
you should try the pyroshark, its super niche since not much maps have water but its really fun!
i’ll give him a look 👀
Demoknight is my favorite class to play, and I love going caberknight, sure it is not the most practical, but getting those double kills with one crit swing explosion, or one shotting a full hp heavy never, ever gets old.
Keep up the great work man !
Finally! I was hoping you would talk about sub-classes!
hope your enjoyed!
I love the L4D2 and TF2 vids you make. By far my favorite
Alright so... first of all... welcome to the community! I literally just discovered your channel and your adventure with tf2 but i have been loving the ever living hell out of your content. Second of all, i know i'm late to the party but there is a custom game mode you might enjoy. It's called uber upgrades, and it takes the mvm upgrading system and injects 500 pounds of steroids into it. That's the best description i can give you without spoiling the fun. Unfortunately not many people are playing this gamemode as much as it was in it's glory days so you'll need to figure something out with discord, but i'd say it's pretty darn fun once you get used to it.
Bruh I was dying on the inside seeing him goomba stomp instead of hitting the markets
If you replace the bonesaw with the ubersaw, you can become a medic knight, with a sword (saw) and shield (ubercharge)
I recently saw a fan o war video for the Scout and ngl I love it. The loadout is:
-Soda popper: it gives you 5 jumps once the hype meter is full, great for flanking/escaping. You charge it by doing damage.
-Mad Milk: a grenade that coats enemies in milk that heals anyone who damages the milked person(s) by 60% of the damage done which is huge as you can sustain yourself and heal your team
-The fan o' war: a melee weapon that deals -75% damage but marks enemies so they take mini-crits similar to jarate, except it lasts 15 seconds and cannot be removed through other means that would remove jarate(invisibility, healing, charging etc). It is also the ultimate hailmary when on low health because you have nothing to lose and if you can mark the enemy before they kill you, they'll take mini crits for 15 seconds which is VERY LONG.
How it plays:
This loadout allows you to be very flexible on both positioning and role.
You can play as a frontline scout with extra durability thanks to the mad milk and you can mark players who can't hit you or ignore you.
You can play as a flanker to take out backline classes like medics, snipers and the occasional engineer without his sentry. Also this allows you to mark enemies from behind which is a lot easier to do than run at them with your melee weapon and 125 health.
You can also be somewhat of the RPG trickster who wastes the enemies' time by dodging their attacks with the 5 jumps from the soda popper and the healing from the mad milk.
Now if you want to kill most classes, the soda popper is often enough if you can get in melee range, however, you become a very scary threat to heavies since they can die very quickly to 2 mini crits from the soda popper. Not only that but you can also greatly reduce the effects of overheal by:
A: Dropping the medic
B: Marking the medic's pocket with the fan so he'll take mini crits which melt through health very quickly.
Mini crits also affect some damages that you don't usually consider like bleed/burn damage and sentry damage which helps if your engineer's nest is in danger.
This allows you to dive without commiting too much which usually gets scout killed because all you need is to hit the enemy once in melee then run away.
You can take a much more supportive role while not restricting your offensive capabilities which is great imo.
It also motivates your team to be on the offensive since it is very satisfying to hear the mini crit sound and see your health go up when you deal damage, monkey brain activation and whatnot.
My favorite funny class is the revengineer, the gunslinger+frontier justice is so ridiculous. Yelling “MAH SENTRY” in chat and then just going on a guaranteed-critical rampage will never not be funny
It’s funny you mention that because I am training to hunt with a bow and it is very cathartic
Battle medic usually uses the ubersaw with regular medigun so that you can just charge Uber
as a medic main, i wish every battle and pocket medic could simultaneously evaporate and suffer as they do so
Ay nice to see another tf2 Kelski vid great work
thanks Mr. Pingo 👑
@@kel_ski anytime Kelski 👍
My personally preferred method of Demoknighting is 'Hybridknight', which is where you don't equip the boots in favor of keeping a grenade launcher. My grenade launcher of choice is the Loose Cannon, as it combined with the usual Charge-n-Targe and Eyelander lets you have crazy mobility while not ditching the resistances and guaranteed crits the Charge-n-Targe gives you over a more mobile shield like the Tide Turner. The biggest downside is that you start off with only 150 health and you won't be going quite as fast as you would with the boots, but it's still very rewarding imo
i fking love these videos, thanks for existing

Seeing new tf2 players make videos on the game is something we get to see very little of, its a nice change of pace!
glad you're enjoying watching me learn the game!
when rocket jumping airm diagonally next to you not directly at your feet. the closer you aim to your feet the higher you go whereas the further away you aim the more horizontal distance you will get. also voice chat is team only on official valve servers

hey, thanks for the compliment my dude 🤝
Probably my fav thing to do is play medic with quickifix and pocket a soldier, basically market garden for medic
If you love Demon Knight, you should see Demo Knights who do trimping
the Trolldier is more centered around the Market Gardener (the 195 damage when in the air spoon) rather than the Mantreads (the Mario boots) also let go of W immediately when in the air and slowly turn using your mouse and A and D keys to strafe, which takes advantage of the Mantreads' stat of better turning control while rocket jumping
there's a thing called Trimping with Demoknight(well the comments prob explained it to you by now)
there's also Battle Engineer which uses the Gunslinger which makes you more of a frontline class rather than a backline one (due to the Mini Sentry's flexibility), and you may focus on your supportive buildings (Dispensers and Teleporters) since you do not need to upgrade your sentry
the Battle Medic is pretty much more known with the Blutsauger (health on hit syringe gun), though Battle Medic with the crossbow is much better
also the Huntsman have a bigger headshot hitbox due to Source Spaghetti, having the nickname "Lucksman"
also there are also Pyro subclasses, the Pybro (using the Homewrecker for destroying sappers and spychecking often and maybe reflect projectiles like rockets and pipes away from anyone and buildings), and Pyroshark (push enemies into water or ambush them while they're wet using the Neon Annihilator which deals crits on wet players, though that weapon could be a Pybro weapon as well since it can remove sappers aswell)
since you hate normal Pyro, why not try Combo Pyro? Though not a subclass, its very skill-based and pretty much differs a bit from W+M1 (you may need weapons like the Flare Gun, Axtinguisher, Dragon's Fury, and maybe the Degreaser which makes combos a bit easier)
and Gun Spy... use revolver really (you can use Dead Ringer along with the Spycicle to make your survivability much higher)

I have made 3 unique mercs in my own version of tf 2, they have so much to explain, so I won’t for now, but they are, THE DISCO, THE KNIGHT, AND THE PSYCHO

Airstrafing is a huge part of tf2, proud of you for sticking with it and getting the hang of trolldier

Collecting heads isn't the only way to play Demoknight, you can pretty much use ANY melee weapon with any of the shields, I recommend you go try out the Demorai (using the Half zatoichi as your melee), every kills, you restore 100 or so health, it's an incredibly fun time
Oh yeah, did I mention you can FLY as Demoknight?
Hey kelski! Great vid, but do you know about operation last laugh? It's an annual community mvm meme event, and you DON'T wanna miss it. It only lasts for like a week tho
