I have almost exactly the same freezer config. except the motor mouth is not metal, my is plastic. In this video, you used the "old" or "new" wire harness connector (at 5:40)? Since my freezer has a big chunk of ice freeze from the evaporator fan motor down to the bottom & the motor & some wires are rusted. How do I reconnect the wires differently from this config, since some wires are not in the old wire harness connecto?. Please advise, I'm female with very little knowledge about electricity.

Will the fan start right away or does the temperature need to go down first? I installed exactly as shown. No spinny...

Excellent video and the steps shown are spot on. This kit and steps will also work for Kenmore Canadian model 970-C566635 for which there is zero information available online. The kit also works for Frigidaire model FRS26LF8CS1 which is identical to the fridge shown in this video.

  • @caracarlson-roberts6325

I have installed the new motor but the fan will not spin. Why? Also the temperatures on the freezer and refrigerator will not stay at their settings that I used. They keep flipping back to some strange numbers that are not right at all. Like 74 for the freezer and 60 something for the refrigerator. Can anyone help.

I got the part but my refrigerator has a plastic mounting bracket instead of a metal one, so I can't ground it the same way as the video. I guess I'm going to ground it somewhere on the fridge and hope for the best.

    Hello great video!
Just a quick question.... When this evaporator fan motor should be running?
    A) When the door is close fan motor working all the time
    B) When the door is open should stop spinning but if we press manual with my hand the door switch will start spinning again
    C) When the refrigerator is on defrost mod, fan motor should working or not?
thanks fro your answer will be very helpful for me!

+kaloian krastev Like we said in your other post I would suggest going to our repair forum to get troubleshooting help. Here is the basic answers, A: The evaporator fan motor usually runs whenever the refrigerator temperature is higher than the refrigerator control is set at. B: When you open the freezer door the evaporator fan motor stops so it does not blow the cold air out into the room. C: In defrost mode the evaporator fan motor should not be running.

We discovered that our problem with a warm fridge (the freezer section was ok) resulted from the rotating part of the motor for the evaporator fan getting a bit gunked up (after 22 years spinning within an electric field) such that sometimes the fan/motor did not start to spin (to push cooled air down into the fridge), but the fan/motor would spin if given a slight push to get it started. Sometimes it started okay on its own when the compressor started but sometimes it didn't. When the power was off, the fan/motor could be manually spun a bit, but did not spin freely. I removed the evaporator fan/motor (as per a similar video at czcams.com/video/YYVEaTJnOxA/video.html) and cleaned the rotating motor component with special electrical-contact-cleaner spray to remove a black residue coating where the motor spins, until the fan/motor would manually spin freely, then reassembled. One caution is when I was putting back in one of the screws holding the motor assembly in place, I pressed a bit too hard and cracked the plastic housing, but repaired that with crazy glue.

What is with these things?? I've had to fix so many parts on mine. Luckily I'm handy, but if this doesn't fix it I'm just going to have to buy a new one. I'll never buy a Frigidaire again!
