This camera angle is so much better than the one in big WTT events
too bad they don't keep it that way.... must be a lack of big sponsors in the contenders.
Really? I find it super annyoing to watch when switching view especially during the serves as in this tournament.
@@HumbleBearcatYeah, the view switching is annoying, but in general this angle captures spin and speed of the ball way better

@@till246 Problem with this angle is that sometimes the ball will be hidden behind one of the players, especially if you have a left handed player, and also in doubles.
Zhou has shown something he seldom displayed: aggression, determination, confidence and resilience in this whole tournament. Among Chinese elite players, he is a huge underachiever who has all the tools to be the top dog except mental toughness and determination. Though a little late, hope he can have another chance to crack the top circle.

The Chinese National TT Team is renowned to remove their players from international competition if they lost 2 to 3 times against foreign players. But the Chinese national coaches have a lot of patience with this dude, Zhou Qihao. Even though he won this match here, you should be able to see that he was not smooth and needs to be lubricated with WD40. This must be due to being nervous. Compare this match to other matches Zhou played against Ma Long, they are 2 different players. Zhou will under-performed once he is under the spotlight. One of Zhou's specialties is trying to be cute. They should allow younger players to compete instead of Zhou.
Zhou QH won MS in China Nat. Championship pre-Covid-19 era, but apparently had a leg injury subsequently & didn't perform so well in the following yrs. His techniques are 2nd to none v. the China top5 🙏🙏
Zhou has what it takes to be a top player when he beat both Ma Long and subsequently Fan ZD to win the 2020 China Championship. He underachieved because of his late of consistency and mental strength. One of his "weaknesses" is, if you are good, he can be better. But when you are bad, he can be worse. If this final was against a "smaller name" player, Zhou may not win.

8:21 amazing angle
Watched it live at the Teslim Balogun stadium yesterday. This was the first ever professional table tennis match I've ever watched and to top it all I saw Dimitrij Ovtcharov perform!
It was a crazy experience and the images of the matches still keep running through my head today. Professional TT is on another level! I never imagined the speed would be this crazy seeing it up close. It was a great experience for me and I'd love to watch the next WTT Contender Lagos edition

yeah, just the control of the forehand and the explosive power both on the legs and on the arm/wrist to make the movement and spin was just out of this world. This is the zhouqihao that no one in the world can stop.

Yeah,it was against a sidespin block that was played from mid-distance so the side spin dragged it to a wide angle .
The truth is he played against Boll at the WTTC and made him look like a power player which he never was.
I think this is one of the best angle. At least for the previous several tournaments
I dont think ovtcharov played hes best game. Chinese are really just so consistent. They bring new talent to the game all the time, there so dominating. The shot at 8:23 is crazy!
Apparently, Dima's perf level slipped after winning the Bronze in Tokyo Olym 2020 (2021). Can't see him playing better unless he is very hungry 🙏🙏

Glad to see he's hungry and agressive for wins.

We do like aggresive playing style,..taking risk, earning reward. Quick flip and boom. short on-the-table exchange and boom. Very entertaining.

Sad to see Ovtcharov so very far away from his prime days. Barely winning 1 set against Nr.9 ranked player in China. I remember days when Ovtcharov could compete against China's top 3 players.

They were not booing,they were all supporting Dima and they had to tone down the volume of the mic cos the venue was so loud.

It s clearly todays Dim is not in good condition not to mention to the best condition ..,,Zhou is good BUT is obviously weaker than Dim if he gives his deadly backhand shots with higher accuracy … look , todays Dim misses so many shots and results in his lost at last …. Don t always think China is invincible. It surely can be beaten up if Dim todays is NOT that CRAP
And todays Dim serves make many mistakes that Zhou can directly smash or straightly loop the ball to gain points …. He s so careless when doin serves today

Zhou from the backhand side was too fast, too solid for Ovtcharov. Ovtcharov failed to move Zhou around. His step aside to use the forehand from the backhand side was lightning fast too.

Nah, this was not really Zhou's win it was Ovtcharov's loss.
Lost the first game, couldn't get into it at all in the second and third.
Back against the wall clutched his way into the fourth, but it's still too late even with great fighting spirit and resilience.
Frustration bar is already full at that point and Zhou is no pushover, don't get me wrong, his angles, power and feeling are top notch.
It just feels like Ovtcharov blew it in the first game (same as Franziska who did a better job) and you just cannot do that against the Chinese - you only ever get 1 chance and they know it...
Anyway, congratz to Zhou which is on the rise now.
Well done, well deserved, solid mentality.
Let's see how he fares when his other Chinese teammates enter the tournament as well (Marvelous 12 from 2020 gives hope)
