Revealing the Truth About AI and Software Engineering Jobs
#TruthAboutAI #tiffintech
In 1983, I got a high school summer internship at NASA, programming FORTRAN on punch cards. Things have changed a lot since then!
1983 with Commodore Basic (C64), programs were saved to a tape drive.
I had an Atari 800XL
Same here as a 12 year old , over the Xmas holidays with a zx spectrum, schools later were using C64
I got my first full-time tech job(Linux support at a web host) in 2010. I was 17 at the time and bluffed my way in with "Working on my A+" and a willingness to work weird hours for low pay.
My techy discussions with Ada Lovelace, those were the days! ^^
Love your videos! Thank you for making them!
The problem with using the bureau's statistics is that there's no way to know how much will be outsourced. Were only 6 months from 2025 and the software and cybermarkets are saturated as hell with applicants. I don't know if I buy it. There's no Jobs. Not to mention Tech Lead's new video is eye opening despite his trollish nature.
it means there are much opportunities in there, no one will compete with small things
dont be weak
Skynet here we come.
I'm an unpaid intern artificial intelligence engineer and it sucks to have to work for free
@@christopheryoungbeck8837 Internships should (legally IIRC) be purely hands-off shadowing of a trainer until you are fit for purpose and then you are on-boarded and paid for work done. Work being done = get paid. It's federal and State law in the US.
Entered tech in summer of 2000 as a C++ desktop developer working in VR
What year? Well... my first "tech" job of any sort would have been in, aaah, 1997 I think. That first tech job was working in a combination of desktop support, network operations (working with Novell Netware III to really date myself) and AS/400 operations. I did that for a few years and then my first programming job (which is really more when I consider my "tech career" as starting) came along in early 2000.
I remember a 2000 article interviewing various scientists/inventors, asking them to prognosticate about the year 2050. Ray Kurzweil said the 2050 would be here by 2020. :- )
Thank you, for the update on Software Engineering Profession. I enjoy your videos. indeed, the documentation. I got into tech 2022. I begin studying with Flat Iron School for SE 2023.
It’s crazy to see how computer engineering is now compared to even 5 years ago thinks are rapidly evolving 🤩
Think about all the new computer chips, processing power and massive infrastructure that would have to change for all of this to happen. Programmers (real ones) aren't going anywhere. Sure jobs have been lost, but the demand is still there. Likely it will take much more time, several decades even before AI is going to replace engineers to that degree. AI is the new hype and yes there are tools, but they will help with productivity at a much more efficient level. When the economy returns, more jobs will pop up. Programmers should keep their skills sharp and focus on being better. New tech is coming as well.
I've been into tech ever since i was young, twenty years ago now. And I agree with your point, AI should be used as a tool, not as a replacement for jobs. AI should be a copilot!
I think a computer is the ultimate engineering device which really got me into tech but after getting into tech, I was mostly working on software which includes AI and other programs.
Forsure!! Its always evolving :) Happy Friday!!
Good point, I would add that even though AI assist a lot, we still deal with other humans... and know, I feel that even more! From different areas and etc!
Love your videos! Keep it up ❤
Im choosing nursing. Yeah nursing is high burnout and stress....but i cant sit behind a computer 8-12 hours a day typing away. Then do it all over again...and again....
software engineer who use ai will replace software engineer who dont use ai.
❤
That’s been said. I read about an insurance company (or something like that, not sure) who have actually grown their staff as a result of AI.
@@kevinmcfarlane2752 i just want to prove them wrong to people who said software enginneer has no future
Tiffany janzum madam
Thanks for valuable knowledge sharing
Profecionaly i would say 1990.at 12. I am 46 now so 34 years ago.
1981, in high school, on an NCR mainframe through timeshare
I got into tech at the age of 48. I am now 48 and a half. Could I start a new career in cybersecurity with no tech background to date?
I got in sw and FE dev at 37
I graduated in December with an engineering degree in all I could get so far is an unpaid internship as an artificial intelligence engineer and I'm learning a lot but it sucks do not have income
what country do u live>
1980 - punch cards and Fortran for my first college class in programming
Hey Tiff , really nice video ! I was wondering if I could help you with more Quality Editing in your videos and also make a highly engaging Thumbnail and also help you with the overall youtube strategy and growth ! Pls let me know what you think ?
In your opinion, are the recent waves of tech layoffs the result of over-hiring during the pandemic or of the companies doing the layoffs thinking their engineers can be replaced by AI?
Tiffin Tech🤘
Computer engineers may need their CDL Class A license also, just in case.
This comment is legendary 😂
Tiff👌👌👏👏👏😊👍
AI rarely writes well working code, so you must use your brain anyway. It can't immediately fix an error, its solutions almost never work. I expect AI to quickly solve a problem, but it generates something wrong.
But AI isn't useless, Chat GPT and Claude AI wrote some functional for my first Python project. It wasn't from the first attempt, though.
It's better to learn documentation, than to hope that AI will make everything for you.
The main thing is that it saves time, especially on code generation from your current context, even when it’s slightly wrong. That’s been my experience anyway.
1986.
What growth?😅
I got 8 years of experience and I can’t find a job
Programming isn’t a career option anymore, it’s a handy skill, yea
ai just a tool not a replacement
Poor girl is still in denial stage. Or she just tries to justify her sponsor.
Perhaps yes agi could replace her jobs and many the result in the long run is post labor economy
I am glad you mentioned Co Pilot and it s ability to code.... aaaa nope
1983
She is reading off a tele prompter. switching back from AI to software. I don't know why these videos pop up in front of me.
And ai coder
😃
Ai is crap at writing good code, the near term impact will be brain drain to AI development to try and make it better.
But for now it’s terrible.
😮 software engineering is a job won't exist soon and if it does none of the people in the comment section here are good enough that you'll have a job😮 the very corporations you're trying to get a job at are trying to replace you and you're trying to get a job in this field😮 it just doesn't make sense if you think about it like 2 seconds😮 like how is that different from you're trying to get a job as a bus driver and there's a law that the government is trying to pass and the bus companies to make bus driving illegal because somehow it makes them more money 🤑
Your problem is thinking 2 seconds, AI can code, but what will it code, random things? who will design, debug and control quality? farmers or docters?
