Funfact: The Mayas really sent their princes to school. You werent allowed to be crowned, if you didnt had an education. So the series is kinda historical accurate here. Edit: Im sorry, I meant Incas. The point still stands but I mixed up the cultures. Thanks for everyone for correcting me.
The Incan nobility, which Kuzco is, also did went to school. Role of the teacher was called "Amauta", and they learned a lot of administrative stuff. Even the girls went to a seggregated school for women to learn about household activities: the Aclla Huasi (~"The House of the bride").
I mean, at one point Kuzco says "They haven't invented light bulbs yet" while he's standing on a modern game show stage covered in light bulbs. Yet taking pictures involves opening a window for a "flash" so someone can paint really fast. They talk about or use all sorts of modern technology, yet it's completely random which ones exist or not. Sometimes they call themselves Incan, yet sometimes they say they live in Peru (which is the name the conquistadores gave it). Yzma goes off to Hollywood, then when she arrives, it's a desert with a giant Hollywood-letters-sign that instead reads "NOTHING YET." They literally give no effs about continuity with real life, and that's part of the hilarity (especially in season 2 when they really start to riff on it).
Also, *everyone* is "ethnic". It's just one of those words that makes white people out to be the norm. What the f_k is "ethnic" when everyone has an ethnicity?
Also, I thought this show took place in some sort of fictional Peru, where the Spanish didn't invade yet. And here comes Ramon's Latin ass, destroying that in my mind. Damn, it really has been a minute since I watched this show.
@Gi-Gi-Gi-Gia Camole damn... kuzco gone through all the trouble of surviving yzma and graduating just to have some disease-ridden gods show up and topple the empire
@Gi-Gi-Gi-Gia Camole Then there's the fact that Ramon looks exactly like the natives too. Shouldn't he look white, or at the very least tan? Unless Spain had already been snooping around in South America, and he's mestizo 🤷♂️
they probably added the spanish music in just to remind the audience that theyre "latino" characters. cus i know a lot of people who werent aware they were Native.
What if Ramon is a half Native-half Spanish spy planning to not only assassinate Kuzco, but anyone taking his throne including Yzma and later Pizarro. Meaning he will rule all of Peru once the Spanish Crown conquer the Incas.
I watched this show every day when I was little because it used to come on after The Replacements. Even when I was little, I didn't know if I seriously wanted Yzma to snap Kuzco's neck because he was so whiny sometimes or if I actually loved Kuzco because of how funny he could be.

I’m aware that I keep saying Yzma’s name wrong in this video. I was truly big bugging the whole time. 😂😂 I knew something was off, I just couldn’t put my finger on it.
I remember this show so much. Though I've been reluctant to revisit it as I was always annoyed with Kuzco (they had him say "hottie hot hottie" and "me" way too much). In the movie, he was fine but in the show it felt like he was flanderized and had to learn the same lesson over and over again even though the movie had already did that for him by having Kuzco change from an arrogant, spoil, selfish jerk to a more humble, compassionate and likable fellow by the film's end. In the show, it's like he would have Aesop amnesia.
I personally love Emperor's New Groove because it was one of the few Disney movies that didn't have a subplot around romance. There was no half-assed character put in solely to be a romantic interest that the main character was going to end up with, it was just about a kid learning to be a better Emperor and I loved it.
"That Roseanne cow movie." Perfect description there, Tariq. lol 😂 And yeah, Emperor's New Groove is my personal favorite Disney film, and I only like a few of them The others I like being Tarzan, Alice in Wonderland, Lilo and Stitch, and Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas. Lion King never really interested me, Pocahontas seemed to drag a bit, Aladdin was only good for Robin Williams, and the less said about Chicken Little, the better. 😆
Don't forget Yzma finally got to sing a song in the finalé of the series. Something she had when the movie was "kingdom of the sun" but lost after it swapped direction. Something even she was upset about; since she was hired to sing in the first place. Along with her role in the movie. It's like hiring jackie chan for a movie but not having him do stunts at all; to paint a better picture.
She did get to sing little snippets throughout the show, as well, usually because of Kronk. The Pajama Llama theme song in at least 2 or 3 episodes ("And I wear a stupid blue CAAAAAAAPE!!"), Kronk's recycling song, and I'm sure a couple others before "Yzmopollis My Metropolis" in the finale. Her talents were very well utilized by the writers, and she earned every Emmy she got!

This show gets waaay too much hate.. the most baffling thing is people complaining about the plot not making any sense... like did they even watch the movie? Or Kuzco still being a brat... like if this were a more serious franchise I'd get it, but here... being a brat is kind of what gives Kuzco his charm in a weird way, he's funny. As for who was running the empire while Kuzco was in school... I don't think anyone was. If you recall back in the movie after Yzma took over no one really noticed or cared, so it's not that much of a stretch to me that the throne could go empty for a little while and nobody would notice. (Again, this isn't supposed to be a realistic show.)
I'm in Canada and I don't think the second season ever aired here because none of those new characters or the musical episode look familiar. I'm gonna have to go find it now. Great video, though. I'm on a binge of your channel right now and it's all awesome.

The show dosent care
I genuinely enjoyed watching this back in the day. It was on Saturday Disney for us Aussies I think, I need to rewatch this again.
Fr it's so overhated like 😤😤😤
Most underrated Disney cartoon!
I was 15 when this came out and loved it since it's based off my favorite Disney movie. Show was funny as hell
I'm in Canada and I don't think the second season ever aired here because none of those new characters or the musical episode look familiar. I'm gonna have to go find it now.
Great video, though. I'm on a binge of your channel right now and it's all awesome.
The Emperors New Grove is one of the best Disney movies out there. It’s just a great movie! So funny no matter how many times I watch it!
Everyone in my house, including me, were today years old when we learned Miss Kitt died. Eleven years ago.
We all thought she was retired this whole time holy shit.
I agree Emporers New Groove is one of their best movies. SO funny. And Kronks wasn't bad either. I showed my 3 year old twins and now my daughter actually says "boom baby" when she enters a room or is excited 😂
OMG that's so cute!
Broooo, I would watch this type of content all day. You got your own vibe going and I’m really enjoying the feels I’m getting. Keep doing this bro and you going places. Sending dank love homes
Eartha Kitt is a is a legend one of the greatest black people who ever lived !
Oh man I loved this show and just ran across your page! Keep up the great work brother!
Had me howling in laughter.
*YOU KNOW DA VIBES*
I always thought that Yzma "disguised" as the PRINCIPAL BECAUSE she was fired.
I always saw Kuzko looking at this whole situation like "I am going to let this slide, see where this goes"
