Germans are not better nor worse than others. Always believe in the kindness of others. You will find both types of people in every country.
Sorry but I have to say this: you know you're listening to a New Zealander when check-in comes out as chicken and you wonder for a second what the heck are chickens doing at the airport. 😆
Those people who helped you jumped the line are the most beautiful people in the world. Especially thanks to the elderly couple, she was probably a loving grandma.
Was confused about all that chicken business at the airport before I got "check-in". Love your accent! :)
Love your comment.
I thought she said chicken at first too 🤣 But then I realised she meant check in. 😊 I am Australian.
I think germans are just more reserved than other cultures, but that doesnt mean we are cold. If a german calls you a acquaintance we know you if you are a friend ususally that means we will actually do almost everything for you and it is never just a saying... And with people we dont know we are usually happy to help but we just always will expect you to follow the rules and it is so important that you consider following them since most german will and it is just how our world works.
I think I like that attitude, Knowing that if a German calls you friend he/she really mean it, I like honesty
The story is a shame for the Frankfurt airport. Glad you made it.
I always understand "chicken point" when you pronounce "check-in point". Kiwi accent is so funny! 😆
Me Too! Very FANNIE!😊
Me too!
My husband’s step father is German so we have a lot of experience with German people. Almost without exception they have always been the nicest people. Always welcoming and generous.
generous.....??? I am GERMAN... I could be more generous....
@@habicht6 Well, then work on being a bit more generous, Jürgen....;-) (From another German)
@@guyro3373 well.... I can be generous... but.. it takes time...
@@habicht6 You probably will have some time over Christmas for practice, then ;-). Compassion and generosity are traits that need to be cultivated a bit...
@@habicht6 Every person has things they could improve about themselves.
I am surrounded by incredibly generous people.
Very moving story - I can feel your despair! My husband experienced similar when he went on a trip with his friends this summer. He is an absolutely positive person but as he saw the crowds at the airport, he was sure they are not gonna make it in time. But one of his friends spoke up to all the people just like your husband did and they also made it just in time - they were the last to enter the plane. I think most of the people can feel the despair if someone really is in trouble and don't think of just cheating.
This elderly couple were angels. Angels can also be people for whom God puts a good mission in their hearts. 🙂
The whole story convinced me once again to never set foot on a plane unless I absolutely need to cross an ocean.
What a beautifully touching story ❤ there are so many kind people in this world that just get overlooked because of all the bad situations in the world. Thank you for sharing this wonderful holiday story.🎄❄️🎄
I am having tears in my eyes here 😢 ❤️ I am now seeing the airport situation. So much care for you and what a difficult situation ♡
Glad you made your way ♡♡
Love from Johanne, Norway 🇳🇴
Ps there are different types of people in every country. So many loving people in every country, and of course there are always some cultural differences and more "challenging" people in every country too 😉
I once was late to a flight from Berlin to Madrid and realized that if I stayed in the queue, I would miss my flight. So I spoke to some airport personel who just passed by and told him that. He just said: "Please come with me." And he led me directly to front of the queue. Nobody said anything because he had so much authority.
That is a very moving story. Compliments to your husband for speaking up in front of a large crew. Apart from that I don‘t think it is a question of nationality but a question of character. All sterotypes are fundamentally faulty.
Brought tears to my eyes! Thank you for sharing...🌺💖
Germans are often shy and tongue tied, that looks cold and rude to foreigners. But ask for help and they come through.
Such a heart-wrenching & heartwarming story, Antoinette! Earth Angels are everywhere, even in a busy airport. xo Happy Holidays to you & your family!
it very much warms my heart. had to stop watchin in the train as I really started tears.
I so happy for you that people is that nice. Even though they were hurrying too. They understood your situation. Hearing that story I was teary for you.
Ok, now I am ugly crying. What a touching story. But it definitely triggered me. I had a very similar experience almost missing a flight to the US. I’m beyond grateful to all the God’s, fate and everyone else allowing us to make that flight. It was the last time I saw my mother before she passed. I boarded that plane drenched in enough sweat to ring out my hair, sobbing and I’m pretty sure I traumatized my then 5 and 7 year olds. We had planned everything to arrive in Frankfurt 5 hours before departure.
I have had such a mess with flights in 2006. I was supposed to start in Hamburg at like 6:40. When I got to the check-in they told me "We would like to book you onto the 6 o'clock flight". Okay. I said goodbye to everyone, got onto my plane etc. and then the flight to Frankfurt got cancelled. So they said "Anyone who has a connecting flight to reach before 9:15 go those way, the rest go that way". My connecting flight to Chicago was at like 9:20 and they just had new security rules for flights to the U.S. So I had to wait till 7:40 and by that time we were like a whole group of exchange students who needed go reach that flight to Chicago. When we got to Frankfurt we had like maybe 15 minutes to change planes. So in the end we just ran past that really long security line for the flights to the USA, shouting stuff like "Sorry, sorry, we have a flight to reach". And a lady from our organisation was waiting for us with the rest of the group of exchange students for that flight to Chicago (students from other parts of Germany).
I cried too, hearing our Sister's story.
No wonder the story touched your heart!!!
Holy crap 5 hrs and you still almost missed the flight???
I just watched this video and your story made me cry ! How stressedful for you and how nice you could finally made it to your plane!
Why the hell am I crying…? 😯 so happy for you!
Thank God you've made it!
Your husband is German and you are an English native speaker.
I imagine myself, brazilian, in such a situation...
I can't imagine how would I deal with it not being able to speak so fluently .
I am happy for.you and for your Kids that all went well.
Wow i cried so much hearing your Story. Glad you made it !
What a heartwarming story!
Thy for this lovely story
People are people. There are assholes in every country. I just did a flight to Düsseldorf from Miami. We had a German husband and wife sitting in front of my husband, my 4 year old, and I. My daughter was quietly asking my husband in German what was happening when we were queuing up and then taking off. The German man said in English she needs a slap up beside the head to shut up. My husband came back with Wer, wie, was, wieso, weshalb, warum? Wer nicht fragt bleibt dumm. The guy and my husband got into a shouting match in German and then things calmed down for whatever reason. Everytime my daughter coughed he or his wife would let out a loud sigh. There were kids across the aisle from us and whenever they made a noise the wife would turn around and look at my daughter and shoot daggers at her with her look. This went in for the 8 hour flight. If I was into stereotypes I would think Germans were like these people, but I know they aren't.
When I was 8 months pregnant my husband parked to close to the curb and we had a low BMW. I couldn't get out of the seat with my feet on the sidewalk. I went to rollover (I was thinking I could get out on my hands and knees) when a little old German man and wife came running over to help me. I was sitting there thinking you people can't do anything. You'll need a forklift to get me out. My husband realized what was going on and helped me. The German woman hugged me and the man rubbed my back when I started crying. I felt like Shamu the killer whale from Sea World.
I cried when i watched this haha . I was totally excited about the story 😂
We ARE rude ... compared to Canadians. We are very direct and often lack a filter. That makes us rude in some persons opinions.
Very nice !
Oh jeeeez... Someone cut onions in here... So glad to hear there are still more nice people than a**hats.
Very touching
Oh, the Frankfurt airport is always so stressful at any time but your situation was so much worse than usual. I am almost sick just thinking of what you went through. We just flew from Frankfurt to the U.S. a few days ago and the ultra tight security and repeated passport checks are annoying. Last time I got pulled out of the boarding line for another additional random check, so frustrating.
Fun fact: the plane wont take off if your luggage is onboard but not you.
Either you show up or your luggage has to be removed before take-off. At least in theory
A nice story for christmas.
We've been to a metal concert, 2 days ago. Night wish. Best concert of the year. In performance. But that is only one part of the story: the other part is, how the audience behaved towards each other.
If you ever wanna wanna be midst a friendly and peaful audience at a concert: try some Nightwish. (Or Pothead, from Berlin.)
A christmas story for you: pls try and look for the history of the W:O:A, the "Wacken open air" festival.
It's a pretty amazing story.
I am torn on the story...on the one hand, I am so happy for you that you made it...but I am also wondering about all the other people who were in the same situation as you who were also waiting in line. I mean, someone else might not have made it in time because other people were cutting the line, even though they were there early enough, but didn't feel comfortable to skip the line like others did.
If you don't ask, you don't get. They asked, and received people's kindness. No initiative = no action.
Kia ora koutou,
To swanpride and all others who like this comment:
We are all happy our friends made it onto the plane.
But WHERE is the humanity?
Is there a reason why you are putting blame on the shoulders of this beautiful Kiwi, and her wonderful bold Polish husband and any others there in that madness who were there in the same situation?
They'd be praying with all their might, wondering how they can cope, having all the other frightening
scenarios going through their minds, and wondering if waiting for 5 years to see their family and friends would end in disaster, and their kids could all be devastated too.
Kia ora Bro,
You like to point out what people should do. Perhaps you yourself are superman and go to airports to go to the other side of the world with all your kids and partner in tow, and arrive a day early?
This family has gone beyond doing what was required of them. Why have you not cast any blame onto that airport's managers for allowing such a terrible situation to occur for all the people who paid for seats?
Better still, why judge anyone for this unusual situation.
Perhaps if you had a Downs Syndrome kid or some other amazing challenge, you might develop some aroha, compassion and kindness.
@@barbsmart7373 I actually don't put the blame on her shoulders...I just say that I am torn on the story, happy for her, sad for the other people in line (I would have liked the story better if everyone before them had let them through instead of there being other people who said that they were in the same situation). In the end, the airport is at fault there, those lines are insane. But it must have been frustrating for those other people to see them cutting the line nevertheless.
Well yeah someone was looking after you. It was all the kind people that let you go in front of them. I don't think people realize or do it on purpose but by ascribing these situations with an unlikely outcome to some sort of higher power, they take away the decision and kindness from those people who helped and imply that some intervention was necessary to move them to do that in the first place. If they made their own decision to help than there was no intervention necessary and no higher power to credit.
Most often it is just a harmless turn of phrase, but the inherent implication is really quite sad and diminishes what we as humans can do for each other. Despite that is was nice that you thanked the people again at the end of the video.
We all learn lessons. Obviously in Europe you need to take extra time to get through security and immigration and hopefully airlines will start check in gate start operating earlier do you have enough time to get to your boarding gate. In London I always got to Heathrow 6 hours earlier as you could have alsorts of possible obstacles.
vicissitudes of life.... alles GUTE!!!
I can only agree to all the good comments and your story. But what I want to mention as well, as long you have registered your parcels and they have loaded it on the plane, they know that you are announced to fly and you can be sure that they are waiting for you and will not take off without you, especiallly when they are well aware of the actual crowded situation on the airport. They will have several announcement to search for you first before they need to make the decision to crawl into the package cabinet of the plane and remove your packaging from the plane again. So next time, don't panic that much in this case.
They do call for people but it really doesn't sound like they would've waited for them. They took off right after her family boarded I think they really got lucky there.
be careful with the advertising, best practice to avoid any problems would be mark the "ADs" part, with a visible overlay that say "Werbung/Advertising" in one of the corners as long the advertising part is visible / hearable.
if u dont post before Christmas Merry Christmas to ur family
Just a random "technical" question (it's been many years since I travelled by plane). Do you now need to go through customs when you depart? In my memory it only happens after arrival at the destination you have to do that. Or did that change since 1997 (last time I flew) or maybe 9/11?
No, just security check and passport control
Very touching story! 😮 But I still think, that's not about germans, or japanese, or whoever... Like Stevie Wonder once said: "There is good and bad in everyone!" 😅 But your story reminds me of my way back home to Germany from USA last year. From Denver to Dallas. From Dallas to London (The Queen had passed two days before. Can you imaging the crowd at Heathrow?). From London to Hanover. Our very careful son picked us up there and took us home. Erm... and maybe I should mention that I started this journey with Corona flu. I didn't know it that time, I just felt like going to die.
After all it's just such a GOOD feeling to come home! 😊
i remember almost missing a flight in Spain and there was a long queue of people waiting to get through security for their flight to Manchester.. i suddenly realized my flight was earlier than theirs and i had like 10 minutes left. This group came out of nowhere. I just sprinted to the front, squeezed through, did not even look at them cause i thought for an english person this must be super rude.. i just did it, and think they were so stunned that they could not even complain.
I think they also had good hearts.
It happened to us in Heathrow that after waiting for 4hrs in a queue of hundreds of passengers as one check-in counter was open for several airlines, we had no chance to get ahead of anyone else in the queues. After security check and immigration we raced like crazy to the gate, reached just as the door of the plane was going to be closed and the crew refused to let us in , we missed our BA flight..
Kia ora That story feels so horrible and stressful!!!
I think my partner missed a flight once.
I am very shocked that you weren't let in. I didn't know people were that horrible at airports.
I had the same issue with BA too...
Gosh that sounds awful. I've traveled through and from FRA 4 times during the summers of 2021 and 2022 and I didn't think it was that crowded. I get some special treatment though because I am visually impaired so I get to cut lines lol. I was worried I'd end up missing my flight the last time though because I checked in late and had to wait a while for my escort, but it turned out a lot of people were late so the flight got a little delayed anyway. I can't imagine doing that with three crying kids and a crying husband! lol
❤
Shocking. Chaos. Oh my goodness, what u went thru!
Da mein Englisch nicht ganz so toll ist, schaue ich Videos die in Englisch sind gerne mit Untertiteln. Was da manchmal rauskommt is very funny.
Hier z:B. sagst Du öfter "Check-in" und in den Untertiteln steht "chicken". Auto-Übersetzer sind viel zu dumm, um den Kontext einzubeziehen.
Ich musste auch so lachen: chicken area und chicken point😂🤣

Kia ora!
That is so good of you to remind us to subscribe.
Thanks for cheering for our lovely Sister!
can anybody tell me, why in modern times elderly and families with young kids don't count anymore?
Why, why, why, why are there not at all airports, always, not just at crisis times, extra lanes, for free, for elderlies and families???
Shouldn't this be an honour for any official institution like airports?
I ask this myself every time I see families with babies truggle in lanes. How stupid is society?
Wahre Worte! Danke!
Yeah, it's so terrible to have to wait with a baby or a toddler. Even half an hour wait is exhausting and usually you get there in an already exhausted state...
So far nothing unusual in Germoney. What did you expect from a third world area?😁
It’s called „Ze Germanz“ 😂
I don't think it's a stereotype, but has to do with the strong social system they have to rely on that they don't feel they need to go out of their way to help someone in need. Whereas countries who don't have that count on each other in moments of crisis..
I like you and your channel but why don’t you make sure to be at the airport early? Other people need to catch their flight as well .. 🤷♂️ just be 1 hour early and be relaxed 😎
Excuse me, but maybe you didn't get it? They actually were at the airport 4 hours ahead of departure time!
They were there well ahead of time. I wasn’t through any fault of their own that they were so far back in the queue. All airports post Covid were a nightmare. Think it’s still pretty bad.
#sns474
Kia ora mate.
Sometimes I hear something that helps me feel that German people can be like us after all, but then some German pops up and kills it with one of their anal, retarded viewpoints. I just think it is worth considering how a person's words and actions cause ripples.
For someone who has felt not just ripples but tidal waves, over decades, it is hard to paddle peacefully in my waka towards peace and the kotahitanga that this world needs.
What a nice person you are! Hope u get shitty christmas presents...
