    Like so many of us, I'm sure, I'm flip-flopping on this issue by the minute. One minute I'm angry, the next I'm philosophical that this is how the modern game works, then I go back to feeling bitter again, and on it goes.
    Bottom line is it's the shattering disappointment that the wonderful management that got us to here might be moving on, plus the worry about loss of momentum at an absolutely vital moment, to say nothing of the disruption to planning while this rumbles on.
    One thing is for sure. I hope this all sorts out in the next few days. Much more of this will be hard to take.
    Such a shame for Ashton and Gamechanger who certainly don't deserve the likely upheaval.
    Great discussion as always guys.

    No Town fan will want KM to leave but let's face it, he owes us nothing. If someone had said when we were languishing in the 3rd tier that a manager would secure promotion to the Premiership in the 23/24 season then leave us we would have snatched their hands off. Well it looks like that's about to happen. My only hope that if he does go he goes soon so we can get a new manager in place ASAP so he can get his team ready for the new season.

    Of course I want him to stay but if he goes which is looking likely, it’s with a big thanks for the last two seasons.
    He came in and we were a mid table league one side, then two full seasons later he leaves us a premiership club with plenty of fantastic memories.
    Fans saying he needs to show loyalty, the only loyalty in football is between fans and clubs. Realistically it’s a career and he will do what he feels is best for his career, like we all do with our jobs.
    McKenna has started a fantastic journey under our new management/ownership structure and at some stage was going to move on. At least we are back in the big time and future looks positive with or without McKenna.

  • @DAVID-ITFC

    Most of the latter part of last season as it looked like we might miss out on the automatics, people kept throwing out that irritating 'you'd of taken this position at the start of the season' comment. Now some of these same people appear to have forgotten their own argument.
    Go back to KM taking over and the mess we were in. EVERY SINGLE Town fan would've taken the deal that KM would get us back to back promotions and into the PL and then leave us for bigger and better things on achieving it.
    Am I pissed off he's leaving, and do I now think without him we'll come straight back down?...Yes, and yes, but I can't be bitter about it. There is no loyalty between fans and manager either way. We do well we love him, we do badly we want him sacked. That's the way it works. I think he's wrong to go, but it's his decision to make and he owes us nothing.

  • @ivanthelimpet
    @ivanthelimpet Před 21 dnem +1

    What the club gave to him was a chance to be a manager, but what he gave back to the club was nothing short of a miracle. If there's love in football, it's overwhelmingly conditional love, based only on providing what is demanded, and is instantly withdrawn on failure. So if his dream is to manage Man U, let him. He's already done more for us that we could possibly have dreamed of. Not many get through the minefield of football management and come out on top, I don't personally begrudge him for capitalising on that.

      Meaning what exactly? If you think that a club outside the big 6 or state/oligarch owned, can keep its star players and build around them, you’re in for a shock. Brighton don’t actively look to sell, but understand they are a stepping stone (as Ipswich will be) Players don’t sign new contracts, refuse to play, have release clause’s etc. To compete with the ‘big’ teams, you have to do it differently. Smart recruitment from lesser markets, promoting youth and selling for the right money at the right time. Start blocking this and players won’t sign in the 1st place. Brighton spent £100m last season, without the Caicedo or Sanchez money (£140m) counting in FFP figures. Brighton aren’t selling this summer, only strengthening. The secret is to know who is going a season before it happens and get the replacement in early. Southampton btw had a great model, until the owner Leibhrer? died and his daughter sold the club to the Chinese. Same happened at Leicester with the owner dying and his son started running the club.

      @@terry9819 But were Brighton not in the last 16 of the Europa League this season? Did they not finish 6th in 22/23? If you think Ipswich are going to challenge for top 6 anytime soon, you’re in for a shock. Brighton are light years ahead of Ipswich in regard to facilities, have a squad full of internationals and attract some of the best young talent from around the world. Ipswich have a squad of League 1 players, who will need replacing. Brighton understand they are and probably will be for quite a while, a stepping stone for players and managers ( as will Ipswich) The clubs you mention all tried to compete with the big clubs by doing what the big clubs do. Only they tried with players not good enough for the big clubs. ALL of those clubs ended up in financial difficulties because of their approach. Brighton would be the perfect stepping stone for his career

      @@terry9819 What would be the negative for KM joining Brighton? Most teams at the top level are trying to move away from a manager signing players. It just leads to a mish mash of type of player at a club when a manager is sacked and a new manager wants his own players. Everton & Man U being prime examples. Far easier for a club to have a style of play that they recruit players to play that way and a coach who can implement that style. Top European clubs have had a coach for decades and now the top EPL clubs are doing the same. KM will have to accept this if wants to be at the highest level.
