    My father, Fred Gutman, shot these promos. He was a cameraman (that's what they were called in the late 60s/early 70s) at WCBS (and later NBC). He passed a couple of years ago but it's wonderful that these livfe on.

    Hello! Question, Does anyone remember back in the early 70's channel 2 did a station identification spot with a little boy, and girl running through Central Park in the late fall. I want to say over one of the foot arches. It had a nice little jazz piece playing in the background. The key instrument was a flute. I'm 48 yrs old, and I remember it as if it were yesterday. Please help is you can. As you can guess, I'm a very nostalgic woman...Lol!!!

    One of the biggest ironies that the most vivid promos glorifying early 1970's New York had as their background music, stock music from England.

  • @manhattangrrl
    @manhattangrrl Před 7 lety +6

    I vaguely remember this. (Remember the Cloisters promo more vividly though). Oddly enough, this was often followed by a commercial for some store that sold used mink coats. Can't remember the name of the store but recall some woman leaving with a coat on and the narrator saying "you look like a million bucks" to which she replies, "why, thank you". Lol. The things that stick in one's mind. I must've been only 3 or 4 years old or so...

      @@wehoscott - Didn't he also film a "WCBS-TV Celebrates New York" spot in and around an outdoor basketball court as teens were playing, which had a 7/4 time library music piece (which ended with a Hammond B3 organ, and was also used in a commercial promoting tourism to Miami Beach - czcams.com/video/O7qFzjEvYXQ/video.htmlm35s )? I've noticed in all those years that's never turned up anywhere.
