The water pump needed primed before it could begin pulling water (take the lead hose out in the pond, submerge it to fill it with water before hooking it up, then dump some water in that big open port on the top of the pump) and the pump is cooled by the water flowing through it...unless I'm mistaken on all of that. So yeah, the water pump is burned out. Engine might still be good though.
Yeah sucked through top released through front. I use hard pipe. Sry andrew1. And be able to water your entire property with it. Wayer all animals even set up valves and sprinklers to sater ever piece as long as that pond has a steady water source. Or a well to the pump and equipment
They definitely won't last long without an aerator and some shade. Even a fish tank aerator would help them a ton. 10 to 15 gallons of water will heat up suuuuuper quick so maybe a tarp 2 or 3 feet over them to block most of the direct sun.
Especially with there being a black lining on the bottom. That's going to catch so much heat, those fish are gonna be swimming in a hot tub next summer.
Lojo and Flair have the same issues with fish. They don't use aerators. Everytime I see Flair empty out dead fish after transport, you know there's viewers screaming at the screen "FISH NEED OXYGEN" "THEY CAN'T BREATHE". Then Flairs like "I don't know what happened" "it's a mystery" Nope. Just need to buy an aerator or two.

The shiners are good. If you could get a bigger tire to lay on top of the other one to give it more depth. And more area for the shiners and little solar battery pack and a small bubbler for the summer months to help with breeding of the shiners.

Make the bait pond a little bit bigger add some water plants to oxygenate the water and maybe deepen and more shaded or you can try to dig a trench connecting the two for a better water flow so you don't have to continuously filling the bait pond with water
That plant with the yellow flowers by the mini pond looks like a pumpkin plant I just grew several over the summer and it looks the same as mine did you maybe throw an old pumpkin there last year that's how mine grew I threw a couple old pumpkins in an area last year after Halloween and they grew up this year also had a couple watermelon plants to lol

Probably because you were running it for a long time with no water in it. Usually you have to prime the pump with water to creat a siphon. And the water keeps the engine cool. Just like any power washer you can't run them dry or they break. Got to read this directions
Your shiners will last forever if you find a way to circulate and aireate the standing water. I use a small solar panel and a battery with a 12 volt pump to do it for my pond.
Put a solar pump and a stream plus waterfall the gravels in a little stream will filter the water and the fall will add oxygen. There's a $15 one on Amazon that has like a 10ft cord for the panel you can add wire to to put it In better light. Ours pumps up 4ft and runs down through sand and rock then over a waterfall. We used 2 for more flow but sill 1 is better than none.
id love to see some sort of system for a like breeding ground for bait but like let em kinda be able to venture to the main pond if they dare or if the bait pond gets too full. . . if the even makes sense, like a lil spillway or tube with like a grate so tiny can go in and out but big can't get in. . . or this may be a dumb utopian idea idk, you the fisherman with the ponds xD

That should be the nursery for bluegill. Bluegill will probably survive in that small of a pond

Pumps need water flowing through them to keep them cool, they also need priming to get them to work.
