  • “We have two team chemistries. Off the court, we’re all friends. On-court we have a tough time being real with each other.”
Here’s a powerful inside look at the kinds of conversations that Iowa had the courage to have.
It also takes a lot of courage as a head coach to turn your locker room over to a third party. Shout out to Lisa Bluder for that and congrats on 500 wins.

Man my heart breaks for Caitlin in this video, but clearly this open conversation led to some type of breakthrough her junior year. She’s come a long way in 4 years 🖤

This is why Caitlin Clark is a great person. She can take the good with the bad. The coaches need speak to every person the same. We're a team, not just one person.

Amazing to have something so vulnerable like this put out there. Props to the Iowa team!

Why’s the coach mad at Caitlin for making 40 in a game and still losing? That’s clearly the other teammates fault. Cuz from what I’ve seen when I watched their games, Caitlin isn’t selfish with the ball and she’s a great passer. But what I have seen is her teammates either not being able to catch the ball or blowing it by missing the shot. Her teammates just need to get better simple as that. You shouldn’t be having 3 point shooters only average 6-7 points a game. That just shouldn’t be the case for D1 college basketball. And obviously Caitlin wants to win, so she has to make up for what the team lacks by scoring a shit ton of points. If anything the coach should be grateful for having Caitlin on her team, cuz without her y’all wouldn’t have made it anywhere near the big 10.

I’m surprised if you feel like you’re not getting this ball enough ? I’m guessing you don’t get the ball enough during game
When you get your shots make them . I’ve seen her pass to teammates under the hoop and blow it she’s doubled teamed
Leaving a shooter with an easy basket and they choke as far as I can see Caitlin is a thoroughbred she is showing you
What to do WORK 100 3ptets 100 mid 100 free th not mention regular warm up and running and weights and then practice
Wow 😮girls with team success comes individual recognition.kate and Gabbie should be a double digit every game
Just work harder it’s going to be difficult put hard work always pays off your point guard is walking breathing PROOF

This was after CC dropped 45pts against NCSU and they had already lost to UConn the week before so the emotions were at an all time high for the team.
I’m not gonna comment with 100% confidence here because I’m only seeing clips of these videos, and not the entire thing, but I’m assuming that the clip that they had as a team was caused by a disagreement within the team that if Caitlin had not taken those individual shots and instead passed the ball more, they would’ve won the game.
Caitlin’s not perfect, I’m sure she has her own set of flaws on the court and off. I do agree with Kate to an extent in which where if you share the load, you rid yourself of the pressure you put upon yourself and give yourself a little breather to refocus.
However, I also understand where Caitlin’s coming from and it’s completely valid, but I think her competitive edge is what sets her apart. I’m predicting that in Caitlin’s eyes, she’s trying to win and she will do whatever it takes to get the team there- but to her teammates, they don’t think she’ll be able to do that on her own.
I’ve always personally believed that Caitlin’s competitive edge is what brought her to where she is, but I also sometimes worry that it could be the very reason of her losses.
These talks are tough, AND uncomfortable, but they are needed. They need to seek discomfort and put themselves in a position where they have no choice but to talk about it. No team has gotten to greatness without having uncomfortable conversations with one another.
Even A’ja Wilson had a rough pep talk with Kelsey Plum during their 2022 Championship run and told her to get her act together and get shots. Look where they are now. Back to back champions since the LA Sparks.
People need to understand that these girls, or any team for that matter, don’t have to be best friends off the court but they do have to have mutual respect for one another and be able to call each other out when they need to. That’s how you create a solid foundation in the first place.

No offense to her teammates. But they miss a lot of open looks and easy layups....i don't blame CC for doing everything herself. Conversely, there are also times when she had off nights and her teammates helped her out.

The IOWA team had more players drafted to the WNBA than any of the winners team of USC or LSU, but her teams sucks and only her is great? Kate Martin literally made to the most difficult roaster on the WNBA and gets alot of playing minutes in the back-to-back champs. Caitlin was the star, but she wasn't alone. That's why they lost boths finals, they focused so much in developing CC game that forgot the talent they had. IOWA wouldn't had passed UCONN without Martin or Stuelske that showed up when was most needed. However, Bluder still decided that CC need to do it all in the final game, just like the year before. The result? They lost AGAIN.
