Just bought one. Used it 15 minutes and cleared out an annoying flowerbed full of weeds - correction - no longer full of weeds. Easy to use! Love it! Five Stars!!!
There are a lot of comments here saying people don’t like this tool. This happens to be one of my most used weeders in my tool arsenal! I generally prefer it for weeding my mulched areas. A simple back/forth motion once a week will break off the baby weeds around your plants. It works great in wood mulched or pea gravel paths as well but not so much in gravel path areas. It makes very quick work of weeding.
The video demonstration is very good. This weeding gadget is really practical. I bought the same renhotec brand weeding machine not long ago. After using it for a while, it’s not bad. It’s worth trying.
I got one yesterday from Ace Hardware. It wasn’t great at getting the weeds in the concrete joints but it’s AMAZING at taking down garden weeds in seconds!!! And it’s extremely well made. The metal portion is thick and won’t bend like so many of my other tools have done. The handle is super sturdy and easy for my arthritic hands to hold.
So good to hear! I agree, the tool is not designed to take weeks from cracks in sidewalks and concrete joints. Concrete can be in so many different conditions that it's very difficult. If the concrete were smooth, it would slice weeds off easily, but it's usually pretty ragged. And as you say, working in the gardens, even digging out weeds using it as a small spade, works wonderfully! Thank you for your testimonial!
@@rudyanderson835 my concrete is smooth, so I must be doing something wrong. The joints are fairly wide so I’ve been turning the tool sideways to try to get in there. I can dig dirt out but the weeds just sit there taunting me!
Not cheap but worth every penny from Ace. Using the point and pushing walking backwards works best with least effort. Keep it sharp and it will cut and chop heavy weeds.
I have a tool like that that’s probably as old as I am . I’m 70 it works great when I remember I have it . I o eve bought an old old hand edging tool at a sale for $.25 my son used it once and broke it . The steel back then snapped it didn’t bend . I was pissed I got even more pissed when he said well you only paid a quarter for it . I tried to explain to him it wasn’t the money that was the issue but that u don’t abuse tools . I said if that was used as an edger like it was designed for it would have lasted another 100 years I said it wasn’t a pry bar . But he just couldn’t get it . I love old tools they have character . Like an old shotgun that had a long ago broken stock . But was repaired with animal glue and a screw and a nail and some wire wrapped around it . And the stock would be solid for the next 200 yrs . It may be ugly but had character and if it could talk would tell you many Fabulous stories
Viktor Shauberger used this design in his copper implosion plows. Excellent work. Now, can I get one made of copper? WE are all copper deficient in our diets and Schauberger had the solution almost 100 years ago.
I’m about to order 2 of them from Ace. One for me, one for my mother-in-law :) And I may get her the short one too when that comes out if we like them.
I used one today - works very much like a stirrup hoe, but with an added pointy bit at the end, I felt this answered all of my weeding and cultivation needs. Great tool. I want one with a shorter handle - I may buy a second and cut it down to 14" for easy bed use.
Not sure if you jimmied a short one yet, but it looks like on their website, they’re planning to come out with a small one this year. Looks like the handle is supposed to be like ergonomic too.
I can dig a furrow, move the ground in a furrow, drop seed and cover all with one tool with the least amount of effort. I emphasize least amount of effort compared to other methods. Garden your arms off.
@@walterdarvin9983 We do sell it on Amazon, but not internationally. It turns out that long handled tools cost in the hundreds of dollars to send individually overseas. Even domestically we have to charge extra for shipping.
It is available at Ace Hardware stores, and online at skidger.com. Also, walmart.com and homedepot.com as well as Amazon.com. Just put in Skidger weeder and it should come up.
This is a lot like something I banged out of some scrap steel. The price is too much. The profit on this has to be thru the roof, you have $2 of materials.
I WISH there was a big profit. Long handled tools are extremely expensive to ship and distribute because they take up two pallet spaces and shipping/postage costs are through the roof. And you obviously haven't priced hardened stainless steel or silicone rubber (grips), let alone a thick and stiff fiberglass handle. It's a very high quality tool that will last many, many years. Go to your local Ace Hardware store and pick one up. You'll be very glad you did.
