#shortfantasybooks #shortbooks #fantasybooksunder400pages - Zábava
Yes please do part 2, part 3, part n. I'll always be interested in your recommendations
We need a series on stand alones lol
Thank You for this list. Shorter books are very underappreciated. They can also be harder to come by, especially for fantasy. While longer franchises have their value, there are too many super long series where each book is a chonky chonk boi. It's overwhelming if you aren't sure if you are going to like it, and a lot of people are more pressed for time when it comes to their leisure time, and plenty have obstacles when it comes to reading like ADHD or dyslexia. I know fantasy writers like to give this huge expansive world with all this lore, but you can write a shorter fantasy book that still has a lot to it. These books are still good.
Totally agree on T. Kingfisher. After how much I loved Nettle & Bone and What Moves The Dead I've been going back and reading her earlier stuff and am really enjoying everything I've read by her.
Agreed. Loving many of her books! I started with The Twisted Ones and the Hollow Places...I have been hooked ever since. I even enjoyed Castle Hangnail (I think it is considered middle-grade) written under her Ursula Vernon pen name - so much fun!
T. Kingfisher is the pen name. Her real name is Ursula Vernon.
If you like podcasts, I'd recommend checking out The Hidden Almanac. (It ran for a number of years, but the episodes are only about five minutes each and it's ended.)
"Fewer than 400 pages is considered 'short'"
*Me: It's day 594, the book reading community hasn't yet noticed I'm not one of them. Will keep my cover going on in the mean time.*
I'd love to see a part 2 and 3 to this! Thanks for the recs. I've been reading a lot of chunky books right now and reading smaller books sounds fantastic!
Please continue the list. We need more shorter books between the 800 pages giants of most series. 😆
That was a great list, it gave me some good ideas. I would love to see parts 2 and 3.
I'd love a part 2 and 3! I loved this video and got new books added to my TBR! ❤️❤️❤️🧙🔮✨
You are on a roll these days and I’m loving all the content you are putting out!
Great list!! Thank you! I would love to see part 2 and 3. You introduced me to several titles I didn't know. I love booklists 😄 and reliable recs are so helpful. Thanks so much for the time you took to make this video. 👍👍😃
You're my favourite booktuber. I ❤️ coming to your channel and finding new videos and new books to explore. I always feel like im visiting a friend. Pretty much everything (fantasy) I read these days is based on your recs. Thank you for this channel and for you just being awesome you.
This video was so great! I’d love to see a part 2 and 3. 🖤📚
I just finished the ocean at the end of the lane and I listened to the audiobook and read the illustrated edition and omg I love it 🥰
So glad you put warrior of the wild!!! That book is amazing and needs more love!!!
I love the idea of more of these!
I loved this video! I'm a bit terrified of larger fantasy books, so really appreciated these recommendations 😊
Yes, please do parts 2 and 3!
I cannot wait to read more T. Kingfisher. Paladin's Grace is I think the next one on my list unless I decide to read on of her horror books first this fall
Good idea, and would love to see some more!
yes!!! I need more of these videos!! loved this video concept
Thanks for this list. I was recently watching one of your older videos about standalone fantasies. If you have more that are not part of a series, I would love to hear more
Would love multiple parts to this video! I always need more recommendations and struggle to read anything more than 300 pages. Love your vids thanks
yes, parts 2 and 3 !! I also appreciate your 'thumb nail' summaries of each,
Great idea for a video ! I love reading fantasy but so many are big books that a book of less than 400 pages is very welcome to read in between those bigger ones.
I would love to see a second and third part :)
Yes I would love to see part 2 and 3. I’m just getting into fantasy and want to start slowly. Thanks
Yes, part 2 and 3!
Oh that's such a good idea! I would definitely watch parts 2 and 3 if you ever film them ☺️
Yes I'd love to see more parts. I have a recommendation, if that's okay. I absolutely adore *The Tangled Lands* by Paolo Bacigalupi and Tobias S. Buckell. ❤
Yes, please do parts 2 & 3
Yes, please to pt. 2 & 3!
I've been meaning to pick up a few of these! Bear and the Nightengale has been living on my shelves for a while just waiting to be picked up.
Vicious is one of my favorites ever, So good! And it really is a fast read!
Waaaaay back in the day fantasy was sold to me as only having worth if it was of the epic variety. And this version of fantasy has its place. Many of my fav classic fantasies can double as a weight lifting regime. Much of the shorter fantasies were very pulp and veered toward the absurd (elvish steeds as motorcycles and magic as slam poetry will never not be something I love with every fabric of my being!)
But a sparse, more succinct version of fantasy that can balance an engaging plot with some of those meandering character moments... an absolute delight.
I would appreciate an additional part to this series!
My TBR fantasy list is growing!! Piranesi, Violet Made of Thorns, Together We Burn, These Violent De--, oh, no I DNF'ed that one before 200 pages😬😬😬
Please do a part 2 & 3. I’m always looking for shorter books! Especially when I’m waiting for something to come out or to become available through the library.
Part 2 & Part 3 please!!!! Especially the series that have each book less than 400. Would be amazing!!!
amazing video, waiting for the part 2 😊
Part 2, part 3! Yes please! 💕
Yes please do more of these
Yes to parts 2 and 3!!!
Yes to parts 2 and 3 :)
Just finished nettle and bone❤️.
I am so excited for shadow and nine season 2! I think I’ll read the book.
Great idea for a video Elliot👍
I’ve seen you recommend warrior of the wild a few times and I think I’d really like it, seems a bit harder to get here in the UK (at a fair price) but I see a new edition is up for pre order so looking forward to it!
Yes pls do part 2 and 3
This is *exactly* what I need right now!
Great video!
Yes a part 2 please
I loved The Witch's Heart so much
T. Kingfisher is a truly amazing author, Swordheart is great, too
I am currently reading the final strife.....its amazing
I need to pick up warrior of the wild, I’ve loved Tricia’s other books!
I need to reread Vicious, Im hoping to read Gallent on Autumn 🍂
Yes for 2 & 3. Would also be interested in the opposite, fantasy books over 1,000 something pages
Not sure if my previous comment was deleted cos I included a link in it but… yeah, I have a YA dark fantasy book out called Awakening: The Commune’s Curse Book 1 which falls in this category. It’s about 360 pages I think in paperback, a bit more ebook. Multi-POV & character focused. I love a longer fantasy book but these days it takes me so long to read them, I appreciate a shorter book!
Hi Ell. I'm truing to reach my reading goal for the year - it's been a tough one as an individual. I'd like to read some nice short books that are enjoyable that will make me feel adventurous. And of course, to hit my numbers. Thanks El 💞
Parts 2 & 3 please! :)
Surprised Piranesi Isn't here. That was a great one
Yay the girl who fell beneath the sea!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻
I like those books because I just don't have the time like I used to and I need options 😅
The Bear and the Nightingale is actually YA. Katherine Arden is currently working on her very first adult book. Edit: yes, I would like more of these videos. I love fantasy but I don't often read books that are extremely long.
We want parts 2 & 3!
Can u do a video on books u think would make a brilliant tv series
Just about any S&S novel is short, the king novel thing seems to have gotten out of hand in the late 70s and 80s, taking off in the 90s, so many older fantasy works fit this: Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser, Conan, Jirel of Joiry, Elric, New Sun, Dying Earth, etc etc
Yes of course but could it be ya ? Love your content ❤
More more! Always do more videos! Lol
Trying to write a standalone fantasy epic... barely scraping past 300 pages.
The Almighty Algorithm brought me here. Great video!
As I'm new to your channel I don't know if this is normal for you but I would suggest you add just a little more time before the transitions. Sometimes, the last word is kind of chopped off. Even half a second would make the transitions more natural, I think.
Otherwise, all excellent! :-)
Vicious should've been a standalone, Vengful feels so unnecessary, and I can't even imagine what Schwab planned for the third one
I'm gonna try and make this sound less like a hilariously unsubtle plug but mine is 283 pages. Although I don't have anywhere near enough of an ego to imagine it belongs in the same quality category as some of these XD
Title?
@@jkpiowa Fairy War (the cover is my profile picture)
When part 31 comes out, we will be watching and reading
How about the Hobbit?
For some reason my comment keeps getting deleted. I will say The Bear and Nightingale is very good.🙂
Pff the youtube advert cut off the start... I know you open with hello friends... Cheek
It makes me giggle that those of us who read epic fantasy now consider a book with less than 400 pages to be 'short'. :D
Havent watched the video yet but the percy jackson series practically all the books are under 400
Edit: only the first and last one go over 400
LOL! Short novels under 400 pages. 🤣
Just described 95% of Fantasy from the last 160 years! Maybe retitle for the decade rather then general. 😉
1st
