After watching this, I will form a Darkthrone tribute band with one of my friend and we will never play live
>No big sunglasses
Farvann confirmed for not being a very cool band.
As a metal fan who is not over 25... do not underestimate my knowledge of Darkthone! Awesome vid as always C:
Darkthrone is basically Celtic Frost, Bathory and Live in Leipzig combined together. Turns out to be the best mashup ever
Huh? That description is more fitting for the band in 1991.
As for their entire discography, that is an extremely inaccurate and insufficient description of the band as a whole.
@@zhepkin i would say from 1992 until "The cult is alive". Ain't saying they're the only influences we could hear from the them. But the primitiveness and "black n roll" stuff had the basis from Celtic Frost/Hellhammer. The repetitiveness, atmosphere and sinister sound from Bathory is totally translated to their shit as well as Mayhems aesthetic. To call this "extremely inaccurate" is extremely exaggerated.
@@zhepkin the description of 1991 era though would be Death, Autopsy and Carcass "symphonies of sickness" to the describe Soulside Journey. The production is "swedish" but not the sound, as some may claim..
@@Elsuperthroneoscuro I just think it's an overgeneralized statement, an exaggeration.
Under A Funeral Moon, half of it's songs already written by late 1991, is their only release with significant Live in Leipzig influence.
I agree with you, I just think there are many other less emphasised influences owing to their primitivness, even back in their technical days, and before that.
I don't know if Farvann realizes it, but he's a master of seamlessly transitioning from cold, melancholy black metal riffs to almost rock&roll head-banging riffs. It's as evident on Durbatuluk albums just as much as it is here.
Thats why I love his lessons, they always give you riffs beyond what the stereotype stuff
It became way more thrashy than I expected. Song on bandcamp: farvann.bandcamp.com/track/darkthrone-tutorial-song
You were wearing a "Thrasher" hat in your car so it was destined to be thrashy
Farvann stops the explanation halfway through and says, "You know how music works."
Me: "Yes, of course I do. That's why I watch tutorials about how music works." 🤔
(🤘 😀)
Probably Transylvanian Hunger was what got me back into metal and specifically into black metal which was a total fascination and atmospheric plunge that I never got out of since 1995. I always return to Darkthrone as a reliable minimalistic riff riff riffing sound. Panzerfaust is my favorite album because of it's groovy variety and Ravishing Grimness is also because I heard it as something refreshing after some years of hiatus, anyway that's how I remember - maybe it was on CD instead of tape, like the older albums? And recently I discovered Soulside Journey which blew my mind, endless riffing orgasms like Thulcandra, Eon or Archipelago - ahhhh the best!
Uh yes! I am more of a Prog and Dddddddjent guy but this album…. Love it and yeha that got me into listening to more black metal!
I found them through the old magazines that had an interview with Fenris.
After soulsside journey they were a trio who only came together to record and then split because they hated each other (supposedly). Dismissing LaVey Satanism because they were like the most hardcore slaves of Satan.
It instantly grabbed my puber brains attention and I was curious what kind of crazy metal these guys made.
I ordered a copy of 'Under a Funeral Moon', a note with cash in an envelope to some P.O. box and got a week or so later.
I was expecting something crazy but instead of blast beats and diarrhea guitars and burp vocals Darkthrone has this atmosphere to it, big wall of guitars and vocals and it's still one of my favourite BM bands.
Total Death I play very often and Ravishing Grimness was a great comeback album, the Song Ravishing Grimness has great riffs. I'd like it played on my Funeral.
The new albums are pretty cool, they mix all their inspirations with their own sound and a lot of fans didn't like it so they doubled down instead of changing.
They still have the edgey fuck all energy as way back.
DARKTHRONE HOLY DARKTHRONE
I've watched this while doing make up. I'm surprised it didn't turn into a corpse paint 😄
And I'm glad to see Škoda aka recording studio working again.

Mountains.. of madness, of course
I am not a black metal fan, but this Darkthrone sounds great!
Their discography is pretty varied stylewise, I am sure you'll find something you like even if you aren't into Black Metal.
Just waiting for Fenriz to tell you how this is not black metal
"I don't wanna rhyme, I'm not a rapper
*Not yet"*
If thats where dark throne goes next .. i will be concerned lol.
Their latest had acoustic!
8:27 oh yeah this riff is sick.
lmao I'm pretty sure they would approve
They mentioned somewhere that they basically make a bunch of songs each and then gets together to record it. So whatever it turns out to be is the final product and If people like it they will buy it lol
I must say that Ravishing Grimness has some sick riffs in it, and that song reminded me a lot of that era in some parts
I haven't laughed so much for a long time man I love your content!
Can you make a tutorial about how you get the BM sound with amplitube? And how do you mix vocals and guitar?
In amplitude use a Boss DS1 into a solid state clean 1x12 combo open back with Sheffield speaker choose room as garage. Use a 57 where cap meets cone but also a second mic (your choice, I'd go with 414 or 121) pulled pretty far back off the speaker
Maaan that was a great video!
I really enjoyed the song and I think that vocals were the best ones I've heard from you, cheers man! 🤘🏻
Great video! Love the lyrics of the song and the cuts to you performing them in the car was hilarious lol! The music itself was awesome, riffs riffs riffs baby....
Darkthrone heißen die? Muss ich mal googeln
Yes! I was waiting for DT in your tutorials xD Cheers from Poland!
love the recording studio hope to see more of it in the future
That Solar Cannibalismo V is looking so clean😩🙏🏻😩🙏🏻 pretty cool video man!
That was pretty awesome.
Strong Panzerfaust vibes sir truly…In The Shadow Of The Horns.
one might even say reaching…Quintessence it’s almost as if you heard His Master’s Voice & thought “know what I need? I need a Hate Cloak”
That new Darkththrone record tho blew it out of the park this year, the production and the instruments are just... dusty and 70s and it just hits right.
Excellent tone dude. Hilarious lyrics and vocal execution. Well done 🤘🏻
Darkthrone is a great band, I love their riffing and tone. Necrosound, guitars like chainsaw and vocals where the pieces of Nocturno Culto his lungs come out of the speakers.
And Fenris on drums laying down the drums, sparing the blast beats and drumming upbeat grooves that sound like they're recorded in a cave.
Still doing their own thing and coming up with kick ass music.
Great songs to play on the guitar. They are not hard to figure out without tabs either.
Enjoyed this video, cool song too!!
It's been a while since i watched one of your videos, but I was immediately reminded about how entertaining you are
I love your videos bro! Always awesome.
Cheers from Brazil
i love all of your covers and tutorials
And you know what: I like it. Sounds legit, has everything, perfect. With a chefs kiss.
under a funeral moon is their purest black metal album and one of the best too imo
Oh hell yeah! It was great!
And yes Darkthrone is very influential indeed. I especially picked up a lot from their more melodic and atmospheric riffs (like Hans Siste Vinter, Transilvanian Hunger and all that).
one of my favorite videos
Good to see black metal played in these guitars, nice video as always!
I was not expecting that when i requested darkthrone tutorial. I was expecting just transilvenian hunger tutorial lol.
Thanks for such a nice tutorial
Looking forward to seeing this
The bass is struggling finding it's way through the frost and mighty old cold forgotten forests
Very cool way of mixing all the Darkthrone era's in one song, great job
haha love the track. All their styles mix together surprisingly well lol
So simply and yet so perfect....
Man! That was awesome!
Bad ass riffs bro. Good shit.
Nice job channelling this iconic band, by the way.
The production is too good for black metal lmfaoo awesome stuff 🤘
Great content, as always!
Btw, almost q&a time ;)
That song turned out pretty badass indeed! Hails man!🤘🤘
We need a Bathory tutorial
Step 1: get 10 watt tube amp (or practice amp honestly)
Step 2: find a fairly shitty distortion pedal
Step3: Max out the gain/drive
Step 4: ?????
Step 5: thrashin'
The one we have been waiting for
That was very well done. 👍
I always loved how darkthrone sounded like they recorded a quick demo and released it
Awesome!!
This had me head banging for sure
5 am is the perfect time to upload this
i like the song. it sounds good, not generic like it often does when youtubers make parodies or tutorials
What I really like about these videos is that you actually have a good Black Metal guitar tone going. Nothing makes me more annoyed than hearing that "I just turned off my cab sim" tone.
Good video, love the riffs!
This actually sounds really great.
This was a great tutorial, Darkthrone rules!
“i’m in my recording studio” lmao most black studio ever
Good to see your vocal recording in the car, I prefer it myself because it's cold as fuck and its decent for isolating improvised tracks.
And today is the birthday of Fenriz
Hey man nice video
I see you are have some new guitars, you could make a video showing your collection, just a suggestion
Keep the good videos
Great video man, the lyrics were hilarious. I would love to see an Immortal tutorial, especially to see you dealing with corpsepaint and lyrics about
Blashyrkh.
Funny stuff!! I this has helped me get better with my song writing!! BTW how about a Post-Black Metal Tutorial?? LMAO!!
The second you played the 0-12 chord in transilvanian hunger i reconized it
Hell yea,my all time favorite metal band
Love Darkthrone... especially the music from the first times \m/
Darkthrone may be using this song on their next album!!
Überraschend gut. Man merkt, die Hingabe zum BM. Bin selbst seit 1994 dabei und eigentlich an "neuen" Sachen schon lange nicht mehr interessiert. Du bist eine wohltuende Ausnahme.
New Farvann tutorial? What a great day! Nice Solar you got there.
Sepultura T SHIRT! A hug from Brazil to you 🤘🤘
I love darkthrone so I will enjoy this tutorial
The most essential aspect of Darkthrone is being able to play the Celtic Frost worship drinking game. Take a drink every time you think you hear a CF riff.
Darkthrone is a school of riffs.
🔥This experience🔥
transilvanian hunger vocals were actually on point
awesome Song ❤️❤️
Sounds like something off of Arctic Thunder mixed with Panzerfaust and with Nocturno's drunk vocals from The Underground Resistance. Awesome and hilarious!
Hey, didn't know you got a Solar ^^
Interesting video, I didn't know Darkthrone went through all these phases, I never really followed them.
True to the Sepultura T-shirt, you sounded a lot like Max, sometimes. I suspect sitting isn't great for vocals, though ;)
okay that TH part was spot on lol
@Farvann
Very niiice ! Very representative of the variety of Darkthrone’s music along their career. The riffs and rhythms which accompany them fit very well together. (Not sure about my sentence, if a bad soul could correct it eventually, I would be grateful)
Machst echt mega Videos 🤘
4:00 That was actually really good 🔥
nice shirt, btw that`s my favourite Sepultura album
You are genius her farvann

That's what i wanted!!!
I'm jealous for your Sepultura shirt! 😮
The bass exists... Somewhere in the darkness. Buried and forgotten
rumbling from the depths, obscured by the cold fog
LMAO!!!
The bass is very relevant in the early albums
