In 2019 my grandfather died. It struck me hard. I’d never spent much time with him. It wasn’t till 2020 when I lost two friends to Covid 19 that my life went downhill. In 2021 I lost my 16 year old cat. At age 17 I was appalled because I’d spent most my life with it. When I turned 18 my mother practically disowned me. I discovered this song that summer. I began crying the first time I listened to it. I never had realized why, that was until I realized what the lyrics were actually talking about. “And though you’re away, nothing has changed.” “Wake up and you’re gone without a trace.” “I miss it when we talk a lot.” This song is one of the only things I healthy grieve with. Thank you so much for helping me live with the pain of loss.
