That first track is so fucking good it's unreal. Love groovy stuff like this that gives the music some room to breathe. Edit: listened to this demo dozens of times since leaving my comment. This is some of the finest death metal I've ever heard. Extremely well done to the fellas in Crucifix.
It's crazy to think that I used go see this band just about every weekend at Copper Tank Brewery, Galaxy Club, or Trees in Dallas. I was bummed when they called it quits a few years after this demo.
I lived in DFW back then. Lucky enough to see them a few times along with Enbalmed, Disencumbrance, Monolith and I forget who else. Too many great bands back then
I lived in Dallas during the rock and metal hayday of the 90s! I would watch these guys every weekend either at Galaxy Club or Copper Tank Brewing in Deep Ellum. At the time Dallas had some of the best up and coming death metal bands around.
Can you imagine if this work had been recorded at Morrisound Studios with Scott Burns as producer? We would be talking about one of the best Death Metal works in history, this demo is pure gold
Extremely underrated gem! I wonder if the unreleased JL America album ever got recorded or did the plans simply never materialize. Regardless, a true DM masterpiece!
Well dude, this demo got re-released by Dark Blasphemies records and IF I'm not mistaken it has 2 tracks that should have been on the album that never got released. Those 2 tracks blow everything which is Death Metal nowadays. And yes, it's a pitty it never got released. What a great album that could have been.........
All my friends and I use to jam the F out of that demo back in the day. I saw them at the Showcase way back in the day when I was still in middle school lol. I think one of my first DM concerts. I can't remember who they played with though. Too many shows!
That's a great story. Thanks for sharing it. This is a great demo and I was thrilled to see when it got re released on CD a few years back. Thanks for watching.
+Kens Death Metal Crypt I didn't know it was released on CD. I'll have to get a copy because I couldn't find mine although I've had it on tape a few times over the years lol.
San Antonio's INDIGNATION started the show, followed by Dallas' CRUCIFX and then Houston's DEAD HORSE. One of the most memorable CRUCIFIX shows I had the privilege to take part in. San Antonio is fucking crazy!! \m/
Classic \m/. That 2nd track especially....the epitome of nostalgic OSDM. I remember 1st hearing this back in the old tape trading days. Miss those days...despite its modern conveniences, I'd gladly trade the internet back in for em...
Who did the cover art here? Pretty good airbrush work. By the way, the neurones have so much dendrites, that the cell itself would not be seen at all. But it's not relevant for the picture, just a fun fact.
Still have this cassette.
Jason Miller Excellent

Wow underrated best band !!!!!!!old school technical brutal death metal ever !!!!!!!!
Amen!!!
Hard to believe this has no reviews on the metal-archives, kids don't know what they're missing

That would have been cool to have seen. Thanks for sharing that. Cheers
TXDM ftw! Devourment, Sintury, and Crucifix. I love how the band has influences from many types of metal. The Melvins was an unexpected shout out.

+Robert Cortinas thanks! I was there for that. kick ass show.
Awesome, 80s 90s best death metal ever
A beautify done demo! I can't believe I didn't notice this here before.
If aliens came to Earth and asked me to show them what death metal is, I'd show them this. THIS IS FUCKING DEATH METAL!
Excellent 🎼🇫🇷🎼🤘🥢
Killer classic stuff 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
properly stern death metal. a stark example of an obvious brutality of its time.
Agreed! Great stuff. Thanks for watching.
Damn, I forgot how good this was. Back when death metal felt like a drug.
Great rare death metal
