it's been a long time since I watched this but from what I remember apple constantly tries to convince raven to commit a murder by poisoning her, which not only made raven really uncomfortable because murder isn't great, but it would also ultimately result in raven's permanent and unmourned death and apple meeting a handsome prince, so she kind of is. I would've loved to see this show get the chance to fully develop all its characters bc apple's motivations were so messed up and I don't even think she realized it-

It may be cliche, but I love the trope of a "good" character acting rude, selfish, or downright evil! It's just so cool to see a character who's always portrayed as perfect suddenly do a full 180. It's especially fun when, like in Apple's case, the character uses their already established connections, skills, personality to get what they want.

Raven could be raven-haired because some people do tend to associate that with evil (even though she's actually *not* evil). Their appearances are probably just something for the viewers to think about and speculate about. Then again, it's also possible that maybe their mothers are secretly related (cousins, aunt and niece, etc.) in which case then either daughter could take after either mother. Just a theory. Apple acting evil in this episode is certainly giving some viewers even more ideas about what if she turned out to really be that way.
There is at least one movie about Snow White that has Snow White's mother and stepmother as sisters. I don't think the Ever After High universe has ever said anything about anything like that, but as long as they never really said anything about it one way or the other then it is still a possibility.
