Times have changed here in California, I’ve trained martial arts my whole life and find myself carrying a weapon. No one wants to fight anymore but here they shooting.
The important thing most people that try to critique others forget, is to take into consideration the timing...under the proper timing, almost anything can be done to disrupt attacking flow... Yes this hanging the arm out for the instructor to use against you is Dojo syndrome in many cases. But if you have a trained eye you can spot any techniques critical timing. Propper TDA...timing ,distancing and alignment is the key to all martial arts.
In my Silat class, we teach the techniques with the hanging arm to new people. But over a few classes, we then start speeding it up for them, allowing them to see how hard it actually is to catch someones wrist / arm in a real fight when they retract super fast. I've only done it once, and it takes a lot of timing / positioning. A couple of our head students can do it a few times, but still have a hard time pulling off all the moves once they get the hand, because the other guy is still struggling. So, like Dr Phillips said, these moves are often good in close range / the clinch, where you can control the body a lot more.
I train in Krav Magoo and I can relate to this. I only have 2 months of experience but I’m able to beat the black belt masters because of my incredible timing. I was born with it. Natural timing.
LOL Most martial arts are way too complicated to work in the real world humans just can't react fast enough if you like your teeth where they are you keep it simple unless you got dem spidey senses of course.
Steven Seagal is a 7th dan black belt in Aikido, he spent more than 15 years learning in Japan under Shihan Hiroshi Isoyama and Seiseki Abbe Sensei... He also learned Wing Chun under Sifu Randy Williams (he worked as Seagal's bodyguard) then continued learning Wing Chun under GM Samuel Kwok... There are the videos where Seagal and Kwok are doing together Aikido and Wing Chun seminars. Finally, Seagal commented that he is very interested in Systema (Russian martial art and is also used for Self Defense)
I agree with Segal on the shin kick . If you have ever been hit there then you know ... if you've ever struck someone there then you know . The more intense the attack the more intense the response
His wrist takedowns are legit...if he can catch them off guard or in the midst of hand fighting, the opponent falls into that grip. Akido is actual doable before people start throwing hands and you can navigate the grip. After people are tense and in fight mode...nope.

Its a bong sau/larp (in practice) that should just as rightly be a pak (jau/larp), providing you dont rest on the front foot. You could strike to the ribs if its quick enough before you're behind them and bringing them seated down by a rear chin lock. The thing is these Hapkeido fellas get really nasty finger/hand locks on which changes everything. Like dont talk, while they're pulling out your tonsils.
Like your vids your appreciate what I'm going to say. Judo or Muay Thai elbow clinchto judo throw to rear naked choke what move is this because that's a great combo 🇬🇧🏆
A lot of these application demos assume that you caught the timing, which usually means stepping in as the attack comes BEFORE the opponent retracts their arm or steps back, etc. Also, they are just tools in your toolbox - they either happen or they don't in a real fight, assuming you trained correctly and sparred, drilled, etc.
The concept of intercepting the opponents arm and delivering your strikes from the blind side away from the opponents centre line works very well against counter attacks...I think that's what he's explaining to them. I don't think the emphasis about what he was teaching them was about how to kick or throw punches effectively... And in case you haven't noticed, Pereira kicks without proper hip rotation when he throws a round house kick, and his toes point upward without turning his hips - completely different from the Japanese way of delivering a round house kick... So I guess the point is to take what is useful to you and add what is uniquely yours...
Seagal is doing what he’s always done: entertaining. That’s what he is, an entertainer. More specifically, an unintentionally comedic entertainer. BTW, I’ve noticed that he eschews the obi (belt). Too bad, wearing the belt would make Stevie even more entertaining. Just picture it - am I right?
Interesting video: What Steven is doing makes sense. I compare this to Filipino martial arts. Once you get on the outside of the attacker, and once the ribs are exposed, you can easily break one of them and make it painful for the attacker to continue. Once breathing is painful they will stop, so attacking the ribs is a good way of stopping a fight without doing anything that could be fatal.
I think regardless whether or not these fighters believe the stuff Seagal is selling, they're at least giving him a lot of respect, whether deserved or not, and this definitely speaks to their type of character.
Dude you know they were all running down the same thought process - First they think "I'm gonna say 'ok, now let's go full contact and I'LL teach YOU something" but then thought "Dude, this could be the start of a serious acting career. Shine the geezer on a little, hope he likes my moves an looks, ya never know". 😁
It's hard to understand the level of self importance where you think you have to remind a ufc fighter to put his hands up in guard. It's like saying: "ok, you're doing great, so i think you're ready for my secret technique. I want you to close your hand tightly. I call this a first. You're now going to make that first go fast and collide with someone. And now you're undefeatable."
Weird. This video waa online like one month ago. Alex posted it on his official yt channel and yes its alex thar pursue steven like a fanboy and bring the camera crew with him
Like so many other "masters" out there, Seagal's techniques have been developed over a lifetime of never actually fighting anyone and it shows. None of this stuff works in real speed against someone that's actualy trying to hurt you.
Am i the only one who laughed so hard when he said im going to show him to punch that is different ha. I also know even an influencing actor wont be able to have the knowledge an instructor would. I would love to have your knowledge Mark.
Speed is critical.. whatever you train to do.. You should train to do it faster than your opponent can react to it.. an elbow strike is slow if you don’t involve the torso and legs to maximize the speed the elbow is traveling WHEN it makes contact. IMHO. as soon as it becomes grappling.. your odds drop drastically.. even among Jujitsu practitioners, who are really trained for a ground fight.. end it quick.
indeed - it's interesting, Seagal does these with some UFC fighters - and then they often win by precisely the thing he trains with them and then you have these shill videos always dismissing Seagal as a clown. It's weird, because even the fighters who train with him show him a great deal of respect - and we can assume that they see validity in his technique - and we can also assume that he shows them a bit of his speed and power, thereby gaining further respect. Last but not least - lots of peeps poking fun at Seagal's weight - and yet, I've seen plenty of fighters who had the same belly but still retained their strength and speed. Heck, some even retained great endurance, too. I will admit, however, that in many interviews, Seagal comes off as snobbish and disrespectful towards many others in the martial arts field. For a fellow that teaches about respect and inner peace - that's not cool - at all. That may also explain the negative commentary about his teachings.

Seagal kills me. He is a legit martial artist to a dead art but he tries so hard to make himself seem so great. He needs a dose of humility
and yet i somehow feel that you would be on the floor in a few seconds against him.
@orangefacedbuddah1776 No I wouldn't. I wouldn't get near him but he's not all crap, he just went about things wrong for his western career.
He has black belt judo, karate, jiu jitsu and kendo.
@@itllkeal he devoted many years perfecting his disciplines,he knows what he is talking about.Unlike you i do not pas commentary on his personal life, that's his business.
Bring on Jake Paul
That glued on felt widow’s peak toupee is ridiculous! 😂
If the man had any confidence and self respect that would be gone.
Seagull's finishing move should be blinding his opponent with the squid ink stored above in his hair.
Steven seagal is the secret to Chael Sonnen going undefeated in MMA.
It’s funny, Chuck Norris jokes are good natured and funny! Steven Seagal jokes are painfully funny. They both earned the jokes about them!😂😅😊
They did indeed. Legend and Loser. But sensei butter bump thinks he can kill chuck norris. But we all know that's impossible...chuck norris can't die
Like your vids your appreciate what I'm going to say. Judo or Muay Thai elbow clinchto judo throw to rear naked choke what move is this because that's a great combo 🇬🇧🏆
I love it when all the critics of Seagal wouldn’t have dared to face him when he was younger.
yes ask van damme what happened back in the days
😂😂😂😂😂 WAT?!?
Compare his receding hairline from that time to today
Faux Master seagull is legendary
Steven Seagal Threat Level Midnight
It's always great seeing this dude play karate 😂
😎Excellent!Excellent Program! Your fighting analizations make out alot of sense!Thank you for sharing!🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🍃🍃🍵🍃👊🍃🌅
Can't wait for mixed martial animations to cover this skit
Next, he's going to show them how to eat an entire meatloaf without any cutlery while being able to keep his wig attached.
Jean-Claude Van Damme runs in does a flying kick in Steven seagal's chest. Then runs off.
Can’t wait for Seagal teaching Sean Strickland!! Please God, make this happen!!!
lil' stevie seagull is a the world's greatest master. Buffets around the world shake in fear as he waddles up.
😂😂😂😂
Seagal is the reason I lost my bet in the Pereira Vs Hill fight. Pereira KO Hill with the help of sensei Seagal's wisdom.
Looks like bo rai cho from mortal Kombat had a Italian brother
Seagall does have pinpoint accuracy. He steps on that foot every time without even casting his eyes down.
Steve is gunna take all the credit for that one too
A lot of these application demos assume that you caught the timing, which usually means stepping in as the attack comes BEFORE the opponent retracts their arm or steps back, etc.
This is like my grandmother teaching Danica Patrick how to drive…
Regardless of never fighting, Seagal is top 50 toughest actors ever. Big Al is a former UFC champion. Top 100 UFC fighter of all time.
The original Gravy Seal!
😂😂😂
Seagal is doing what he’s always done: entertaining. That’s what he is, an entertainer.
More specifically, an unintentionally comedic entertainer.
BTW, I’ve noticed that he eschews the obi (belt). Too bad, wearing the belt would make Stevie even more entertaining. Just picture it - am I right?
Your take on street fights are so realistic.
"And when the director says 'cut', the fight is over".
Always wondered how Eddie Munster grew up. Im underwhelmed.
Seagal teaching kindergarten fighting skills. Is this the new show Reno MMA?
It's hard to understand the level of self importance where you think you have to remind a ufc fighter to put his hands up in guard. It's like saying:
"ok, you're doing great, so i think you're ready for my secret technique. I want you to close your hand tightly. I call this a first. You're now going to make that first go fast and collide with someone. And now you're undefeatable."
Every time a fighter wins a fight, a video appears of Steven Seagal teaching him.
Weird. This video waa online like one month ago. Alex posted it on his official yt channel and yes its alex thar pursue steven like a fanboy and bring the camera crew with him
Seagal has a stunt triple 😂
Pereira basically won (his last fight) by a deadly _invisible_ left hook (and some additional ground and pound)! :D
indeed - it's interesting, Seagal does these with some UFC fighters - and then they often win by precisely the thing he trains with them and then you have these shill videos always dismissing Seagal as a clown.
@@realitycheck1086Very good points.
Has Seagul spared with anyone or thing on video. To learn is to unlearn bad habits. Here comes Seagull, there goes good training.
Lol kick with the toes bro 😂😂😂
Alex would beat the shit out of Seagal
I really like your way to introduce him
Thanks for your input
He is legitimately an Aikido black belt and also legitimately out of his mind.
