"My god are you hearing this? Listen up, listen to this, when you put that much into something and you believe in it that much, that you are willing to step out of yourselves and completely open yourselves up and make music like that, you deserve to be applauded" - Zane Lowe
I just randomly heard this on the radio. I almost never enjoy music on the radio, but THIS. HNNNNGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH Oh my God this has to be one of the best songs I've heard in ANYTHING.
I'm a full on rock and metal head and I 1st heard this band on the radio at work. I've never heard any other material by these guys , but man alive this song is pure magic, goosebumps all the way. And HATERS Muse wish the could write a song this epic. If this is to become their new sound count me in as a fan.....
Honestly this is one the greatest songs ever written. How these guys never made it big time blows my mind. Saw them at Slam Dunk never heard of them and was just mesmerised to what I was hearing. Absolute gem of a band!!!!
A friend of mine described this as "The Mars Volta playing the best James Bond theme I've ever fucking heard". With that in mind, this track is incredible. Can't wait to hear more!
so many sceenie weenies complaining about this band because they aren't shitty generic metalcore anymore they're obviously exploring their musicality and bringing something different to the table, which is commendable in itself apart from the actual music.
This will take me a few listens but I think I quite like this, I love how British bands like WATO and Deaf Havana etc are never afraid to kick things up a gear.
Quite a few comments suggest traces of Muse - maybe.. I think it may be the string arrangement that's been added. For me, I heard a Jeff Buckley vibe but that's a testament to the power of the singer. But if you combine echoes of both of those it's no wonder they've ended up with such a powerful driving song. I'd love to see them do this live - its a great high energy song.
Different, but the good kind. Total change from the previous album but I'm not sold completely will have to wait and see when the full album come out to convince me. 🐣
I have no clue about this band, nothing they have done up to this. But with 10 mins of google. I am impressed by their modern prog sound on this. I would not guess them to be so young. Great job.
I fell in love with them after the self titled EP way back, but this is still a good sound! I wish they'd have stuck with that sound, but it's still ok!
Could just be that after the departure of dan brown in 2012, they have gone away for two years and thought about what direction the band needed to move in to keep the momentum up. I dont know how much of a driving force dan brown was and how much influence he had over the band as a whole but it would seem that now liam cromby has taken over as lead vocalist they have just naturally taken to this new sound. I think its hard to deny that this is an amazing song regardless of what they sounded like before. The way it builds from the melodic opening to the thundering outro is fantastic. In my humble opinion anyways.
I'm pleasantly surprised by this, even though i enjoyed there last album, i thought they had to change it up. Got to say, i've fallen in love with this song, nice refreshing change.
Wow. This is so different from what i heard you guys do initially, i hear Muse in this, it's actually amazing though, you've continued to climb a rung on the ladder of talent and are expanding the musical horizon, you really are the ocean, and this ocean can be fierce without screaming. You guys are gonna keep growing and i think this song will be the beginning of something new, i feel so empowered listening to this and i thank you, because this new song and style makes me motivated to go out change the World for the better!
Never heard of this band before this month, just seen them 3 nights running as support for Three Days Grace and I was IMPRESSED! Never have I liked a support act before this much and I will definitely be buying this album!
I don't care if they used to play music making fart noises from their armpits to jamaican ska before this song, this is one of the best rock songs in years. Please more of this guys.
I randomly came across the song and I really dig the prog vibe. Went back and listened to their older stuff--not really my scene. I see some people on this board are hating on this song because it isn't sceamo enough. Well, screamo is dead. Prog is making a huge comeback and these guys, now that their screamer is gone, might become worthy contributors.
I think since Dan left, everyone thinks that they should somehow keep their style they had in older albums... He left, they had to adapt, and I think they done pretty good. I may not personally like it as much as their older stuff, but that's just personal preference. Just remember, they are doing their best without a heavier vocalist.
Well, I have to admit that it takes a while for me till I finally love this song. I don't think people who say ugly things below really hate this. They're just not used to the idea that We Are The Ocean is changing. If they play this on radio without knowing that this is the same We Are The Ocean who 5 years ago play post-hardcore music, they'll probably love it in an instant. It's different, guys. And I don't expect this from you. But I really love this :D you guys are still my favorite band!
It's definitely a grower, I love WATO, but the first time I heard it my first comment was WTF!!! Now I absolutely love it, so many complex layers, I hate to say it Muse-eque but with the immense vocal talent of Liam Cromby its a #winner
IMHO they have a bit of Masque/Point of Know Return era Kansas sound. The heavy riffing and high energy strings, plus a little subtle organ work definitely has mid- 70's prog influence. Forget Muse.
How this song didn't bring them back to mainstream is beyond me. Usually people are kinda stubborn about how heavy a band is but this really was just a case of people being super close minded
Awesome song! Has a Muse-y vibe too it, but it also reminds me a bit of QOTSA's Like Clockwork (the song in particular, not the entire album), and Mars Volta or Porcupine Tree. I definitely prefer this style over the hardcore style, this new style better suits you guys.
This song has seriously grown on me. at first i didn't like it cos it was so different but god dammit this is actually a fuckin amazing song. WATO you never cease to amaze me :)
I get that bands change their sound every once in a while. And let's get out facts straight: They lost Dan, which was the screamer of the band. With him, they had the post-hardcore sounds they had in the beginning. It was awesome, but it's not who they are anymore. Listen to the album after that, Dan's still in it but he doesn't scream. He sings. They went from post-hardcore to punk. After they lost Dan and their thirth album came out their sound once again changed. Soft, but very mature and clean. Indie-like rock. And now they have this. Listen carefully and you'll hear the evolution they make in the music and how they grow. If you compare it to Nothing good has happened yet, yes, it is totally different. But so are the members now. All by all this song is just good, and I'm very curious about their other material on this album.
People are complaining because they've changed up their sound, since Dan left, their sound will never be the same duh! This song is given so much justice live, I saw them in October for the second time. Sweet Little Lies off the new album just proves that the album is not going to be all like this- even though that's no problem! They save the best for last, like they did with Bleed!
Ha everyone saying it sounds like Muse, I'll freely admit I actually strangely thought it was the Manics when I 1st heard it on the radio. Really like it though.

HNNNNGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH
Oh my God this has to be one of the best songs I've heard in ANYTHING.
Yeah me too, random hear on radio 1 rock, amazing, love it. So different from their other stuff though, hope they continue in this vein :)
I'm a full on rock and metal head and I 1st heard this band on the radio at work. I've never heard any other material by these guys , but man alive this song is pure magic, goosebumps all the way. And HATERS Muse wish the could write a song this epic. If this is to become their new sound count me in as a fan.....
Such an amazing song. Everything about it is perfect, and every band member is at the top of their game. EPIC...
Honestly this is one the greatest songs ever written. How these guys never made it big time blows my mind. Saw them at Slam Dunk never heard of them and was just mesmerised to what I was hearing. Absolute gem of a band!!!!
has the style of muse, the composition is really good and this lead singer is amazing
this and "nobody praying for me" by Seether are by far the 2 best songs I have heard in an extremely long time.
Awesome tune! Needs an official video!
Feels a bit like Queens of the Stone Age in parts, love it.
This was on the BBC, the review of the F1 qualifying!
I instantly changed the volume, proud of you guys!
Should have 173 million hits instead of 173k.
Outstanding.
A friend of mine described this as "The Mars Volta playing the best James Bond theme I've ever fucking heard".

welcome back WATO!! sounding amazing
Whoever mixed this needed to make the vocals a lot louder... Sounds live.
This will take me a few listens but I think I quite like this, I love how British bands like WATO and Deaf Havana etc are never afraid to kick things up a gear.
This is a timeless progressive vibration. Keep evolving chaps.
Sounds like the Mars Volta, I dig it, massive.
I haven*t felt so much in one song ever I think. God, this is a fucking masterpiece
Quite a few comments suggest traces of Muse - maybe.. I think it may be the string arrangement that's been added. Powerful track! I think it will grow on me!
Listen again, again, again... and again... love it more and more
this is so different for them but i really love it, so proud of them
Holy crap! I was not expecting that level of awesome! And I can download it for free? Thank you, We Are The Ocean!
This has a house of the rising sun kinda ring to it, absolutely love it.
I have no clue about this band, nothing they have done up to this. But with 10 mins of google. I am impressed by their modern prog sound on this. I would not guess them to be so young. Great job.
Sounds really different but I like it
I fell in love with them after the self titled EP way back, but this is still a good sound! I wish they'd have stuck with that sound, but it's still ok!
Can't wait for album and seeing them on the 23/October :)
I still can't believe that you are playing your last shows now...
I love your music, We Are The Ocean.
This grows on me more and more every time! Can't wait to see them tonight in Bristol

Like everyone is saying, very reminiscent of muse. But I really dig it. Sounds great.

they have the music and the sound of the band Muse. it's exactly a mix of Muse and Shinedown. they're really good. keep it up!
I miss Dan Brown and their old stuff, but I'm not quite tired of these guys yet, so I guess they must be doing something right
i didn't expect something like that.. but it's awsome!! Epic song!!
i cant describe how perfect this song is...
One of the most amazing songs I've heard in a long time... It's got EPIC written all over it!! :)
I was not expecting that. This band never fail to impress me, they've come back with something completely new and it's awesome.
Love you WATO
2:40 my favourite part of the whole song 🤟
Gonna be honest, this is one of the best songs they've ever put out.
Still stands as the best rock song of the last 5 years, maybe longer.
Sounds like Rival Sons, great stuff guys, best stuff you've released for few years.
fantastic song. With Dan's departure the band has grown up. new fan
This song blows me away ! It's truly amazing !
Best thing ive heard in forever.
How the fuck is this not a theme song to some crazy over the top chaotic adventurous dramatic movie?
Totally agree.
I'm really shocked this hasn't been used in a trailer for a film or game with that kind of spectacle.
Wicked song! Can't wait for the album and to see you guys live again!
Awesome! If next album will be same way it will be great!
So different but oh so good his voice is pure perfection I love it! :D
still rocking for sure
Spectacular
Absolutely stunning!
Simply stunning!
So much better than anything from their last album.
I looooooove this song!! It kinda sounds like Muse and 30 Seconds To Mars had a baby XD looking forward to the album's release!
Could easily be a movie theme. Love it
OFF THE SCALE.....AMAZING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can't say I really liked anything they have done in the past but this is phenomenal!
So crazy good song it's not even fair how good it is!
I fucking love this! Cannot wait for the album.

Awesome song ! We are the Ocean is for sure an amazing band !
" We Are The ocean ruined my life !"

At first I was a little unsure but when I heard the song for the second time I think it sounds really good, great lyrics as well.
Love this, reminds me of riverboat song by ocean colour scene
Descanse em paz We Are The Ocean.
This is fucking phenomenal
Bouyaaaaaaaaaa Energy at the maximum !
This definitely feels like a movie theme track. James Bond???
Yea that's what I'm thinking like it would be perfect
Nuts. Haven't listened to these guys since the self titled EP and I was NOT expecting this. Very good though, shame they aren't together anymore.
Alexisonfire and we are the ocean should tour togther!
Ark is my favourite song from them
Am I listening to WATO or The Doors? o.o This song has an amazingly classic feel to it.
I'd asume that's not a compliment.
Scruff321 It is.
Scruff321 Even says "amazingly" in the comment. Why would that not be a compliment.
VerityAndCakes I suspect she has awful taste and as such doesn't like The Doors.
A truly epic song!
IMHO they have a bit of Masque/Point of Know Return era Kansas sound. The heavy riffing and high energy strings, plus a little subtle organ work definitely has mid- 70's prog influence. Forget Muse.

Totally agree with you bro. I hear a Mars Volta influence on this... I think Children of Nova too Really impressed by this x
So perfect
This song has seriously grown on me. at first i didn't like it cos it was so different but god dammit this is actually a fuckin amazing song. WATO you never cease to amaze me :)

do you think they'll bring out any more screamo stuff?
This is incredible.
This is very cool, video reminds me of Tesseract, definitely getting a proggy vibe off the music
Llevo días esperándola :D estilo muy diferente.
Your best song!
