The Sherp all-terrain vehicle is a floating all-terrain vehicle on ultra-low-pressure tires created by constructor Alexey Garagashyan. The technical characteristics of the Sherp allow it to overcome mud, water, tree debris and rocks up to 1 meter high. The Sherp all-terrain vehicle is equipped with a Japanese-made Kubota v1505-t diesel engine. The Engine has 4 cylinders and a total volume of 1.5 liters. Engine power is 44.3 HP. The Sherp has a 5-speed transmission, all-wheel drive on all four wheels.

I started out following the Sherp blogs and CZcams videos. Every time I watched a Sherp video I would think why did not make this with an articulating body. All you have to do is run a Sherp over uneven ground, boulders, logs or what ever and you see it tip with one or more wheels coming off the ground. We owned a coot for years. Coots were one of the first ATV's to come out in America. The advantage with an articulating body is all wheels are always on the surface pushing or pulling. When you go over logs or boulders the front and back axles adapt to the uneven angles. The Shatun is the answer to what I was looking for. There is No Question, the SHATUN has far more Features, Advantages and Benefits PLUS it costs less. The only question with the Shatun is what kind of WRAPS would you go with?
Both are BEAST. I like the SHATUN for the reason it has a steering wheel. The SHATUN needs SHERP tired and then it would be perfect!
Notice that the filming crew going through the same terrain with no problem were in the SHERP... :)
@PaxSilvestris I wonder how much a Shatun would cost once they made one that was USA compliant to import, set up distributors, dealers, and a parts and service network. Haven't seen one in the USA yet. I can tell you right now, the crush/pinch point on the sides when turning would not be ok here in the USA. Haven't had to replace any tires yet, they're holding up great with virtually zero wear.
I tried to get one down here in texas a few years ago, right before hurricane Harvey but it wasn't compliant in u.s. yet but it was in Canada. When did they allow them to be sold in the u.s.? Are the new n versions sold in the u.s. too?

@@NA-gd3sd Yes the 2020 Sherp N is also available. Right now there's about a 4-6 week wait period.
Sherp is for sure better but I think the tires are a big difference
It's kind of ironic that these few private citizens have better hardware for all road and weather conditions than most natural disaster and SAR teams get to save lives.

You can't call the video Sherp vs Shatun, WITHOUT a sherp in the video.
but the camera crew was in the sherp. You didn't see how it seemed to have no trouble with the situations that the Shatun had trouble with? Though they are both quite similar. Sherp seems to be slightly better in comparison.
Though you are right. I wish the camera got swapped to the ones in the Shatun at one point in the video.

ikr. the shatun seems cool and all, but the more moving parts you have, the more problems you will have. on the other hand, sherp is just simple and has a better tire design to go over anything.

Introducing more points of failure isn't how emergency utility works. Anything will have to start flying too to get ahead of Sherp.
Sherp can brake the chain, and then you only 1 side drive. Shatun has difflocks. if 1 wheel stops you have 3 others.

Sherp; Price is outrageous. 100 000$ for skid steer loader drive train, 4 agricultural tires and some body work. Outrageous price. 50hp diesel engine... what a joke for 100k.
10 000-20 000 for drive train
10 000 for tires
5000 for body work
This is 40 000 $ machine at good day
Shatun; kinda manageable price. Still 5 ton wheel drive train and some body work.
Any skilled enough mechanic can make sherp or shatun in garage out of used parts for 20 000-40 000 $.
If that was all there was to it. Yes, you left out about 50k of what makes it special. And the engineering/ R&D...even the tires are specialty kevlar. But I'm sure your build will be great.
You are right.100.000 costs a new Mercedes S Class with all new technology.
This is a simple vehicle.

The Sherp costs almost twice as much, but it seems to do the job ... plus : the cargo compartment, ( being all one piece), has a much roomier cargo bed ... imagine that a a rescue vehicle , it's simply better ...

From what I read the other vehicle was designed 2 years before the Sherp,but because of better marketing the Sherp got to market quiker
Not a difficult task to reverse engineer a box with an engine and huge wheels though. Surprised we haven’t had someone at home make one with a Harbor Freight engine.
