I forgot to change my game rules back to normal from a previous campaign so my domain limit was +3. I decided instead of restarting I would just use my primary holdings and give the rest to vassals.
making France become part of HRE is something I would never think of.
Beeing vassal to someone is pretty good because of stuard council position (granted rights!) and because of the throne sheme to overthrow the empire.
I love to start as baron vassal in bulgaria to overtake it. Then join the byzantine empire to.... overtake it.
To take the best out of it you have to join by decision. Because you get better contract and you increase the area of your target.
I find that pledging allegiance to an empire and plotting to take the throne spoils the game a bit, it's much too simple@@hornstein12
@@Guillgoo Well the problem with that is you need to clean up the empire after you took it.
Most vassals wont like you and you need to handle allot of people with claims.
and before that you need as much area of the realm as possible.
Probably 2-3 civil wars will appear after you took the crown.
If you character surprisingly dies (for example) during all of this you are fcked.
That's one of the most useful exploits since CK2. Emperor guarding you from any of possible threats right in the moment when you're eating him inside.
I did it with William the Conquerer and just gave some claimant land to reconquer France after I became emperor
Bohemia is a duchy, kingdom, and now a empire title😭
Restored the carolingian borders... but for what? 3000 vassals now wish to lower your crown authority and dissolve the realm 😂
That's why I made theocratic kings. Much easier to please when you're a pious ruler!
The real impressive part of this playthrough is that you managed to resist the temptation to conquer Brittany.
Hon hon hon hon hon
greater France
When you realise Bohemia is a duchy, kingdom and the only kingdom and duchy for the HRE de jure
Duchy of moravia is part of the kingdom of bohemia in 1066
Großfrankreich
Just a couple of questions on your playthrough:
-what causus belli are you using to conquer Carolingian Iberia?
-how do you get on the ballot to be elected HRE? Is it by killing the current emperor?
-who do you normally pick for your spouse?
-is there something specific you're trying to get with your university visit?
-I'm buying claims through the scholarship tree
-Just being a powerful vassal gets you on the ballot
-Depends on the situation. Most of the time I go for Intelligent trait but if it's a tougher start I go for alliance size.
-Just went for extra levels so I could buy claims faster

I thought france was the dating sim
Do something like this to get to rome
wait did they change the carolingian borders decision? back when i did it the HRE had to exist. it was near impossible because you'd just get elected HRE before you conquered it all
Yeah they made it much more relaxed on the requirements recently
I left at swear fealty
How did you nab England? Claiming the Norman title?
Great playthrough and edit btw
william became co vassal of hre when he won invasion, since france as kingdom was already a vassal to hre
HRE = Empire title, France & England = Kingdom titles.... normally, when William wins the war he goes from being Duke of Normandy (vassal of the King of France) to King of England and gains independence since they're both King-tier titles... since France is vassalized under the HRE though, when William is the Duke of Normandy he is also a vassal under the HRE empire title, so when he gains the Kingdom of England he doesn't get independence automatically because his kingdom is still under an empire-tier title (he does get independence from France [kingdom] but not the HRE [empire])
