  • After a full season of use I was finally comfortable with giving a full review of the OOAL Slick Rick One Stick. If you already own, or are thinking about purchasing this stick, you are going to want to check out this video.
    I go over every detail of this stick, show you the mods I’ve done, give quite a few helpful tips, hit the pros and cons, as well as give my final opinion of whether or not this stick has earned a rank in the one sticking world.
    Make sure to check out the Slick Rick, Big Bob, as well as his two newly released sticks, the Plain Jane, and the Pinch Point, here:

    When I was looking to convert from sticks and platform to one stick I happened to catch your first video introducing the Slik Rick. I am so glad I did. I purchased the Slik Rick and hunted with it last year. I cannot figure why someone would want anything else. But admittedly that is because I am biased based on my experience. What sold me was the ability to lay it down completely flat, the size of the platform, bolt attachment for the rope, and the integrated aider hooks. They should know that without your rope I would be on something else.
    I enjoyed your review post season. The only other con I had was my calves banging on the top platform as I climbed to the bottom steps. Before I got used to it I got a bruise or two. All is well now.
    Thank You

      It's a method for climbing a tree using a tree saddle (sort of like a small hammock you sit in) and a single climbing stick. You take the rope and run it around the tree and secure it in the cam cleat, pulling it tight. Then you pull down on the stick to get it to bite into the tree good. You put it about head height and climb up the rope ladder thats attached to it. At that point you secure your tether rope to the tree and to your saddle, get off the stick, and sit into your saddle, straddling the tree. You reach down and pull your stick up via the handle on top, and because of the cam cleat it comes off easily. You then attach the stick to the tree above you and start climbing again, moving your tether up as you go. You repeat that process as many times as you need to in order to get to hunting height and then you stand on top of the stick and lean or sit into your saddle while you're hunting. To get down, you could just repeat the process, or you could do what most do and rappel down the tree with a long rope. Search "One stick tree climbing" if you want to see somebody actually doing it.

    On the Genesis 3D website, it say that the rope tamer will only work on the Tethrd sticks. Is it the Stick Mule system?

    • @robzmancave
      @robzmancave  Před měsícem

      Yeah, he changed the name of them. The stick mule used to be called rope tamer. And then he integrated the post onto it and called it the stick mule. But the Stick Mule is what you want. It’s what I have on mine, just doesn’t have the post

    Did you completely strip down to just the bare stick to stealth strip it? I just got my Slick Rick in yesterday. I’m excited to get after it

    • @robzmancave
      @robzmancave  Před měsícem

      @@caseb85 I didnt. Only thing I took off was the cam cleat. But I also cut out where the cleat goes. I don’t like the strip between the stick and cleat. Feels unsafe. I’ll admit, it was a pain in the butt to strip around the top and bottom hinges. But well worth it

      Thanks man! I really like the paracord. To me it adds a lot of benefit in regard to footing and hand grip. Some folks talk trash about it, but they obviously haven’t tried it.

    Couldn't you just girth hitch the tether rope to the bolt? That would solve the problem of hassle when swapping ropes, wouldn't it?

    • @robzmancave
      @robzmancave  Před 7 měsíci +1

      BROOOOOOOO!!! Why the heck didn’t I think of that!? 😂 now I gotta try!

    • @boxertechnical
      @boxertechnical Před 7 měsíci

      @@robzmancave It's probably still a little annoying fishing it through that hole but with a piece of wire or something to pull through it shouldn't be too bad. The new Anchor looks neat as far as fixing the geometry as much as possible, but probably isn't easy to swap out ropes. Then again that's such an occasional need so not too big a deal.

  • @LynnJynh9315
    @LynnJynh9315 Před 3 měsíci +1

    12:10 Why don't you just girth hitch it? Then it's removable.

    • @robzmancave
      @robzmancave  Před 3 měsíci

      I could, but I think having it centered on the cleat is best. Can’t do that if girth hitched. Now I just keep the Allen wrenches in my box with my spare rope. Only takes a few minutes.
